Chicago gun violence continued to decline with the cooler weather in November, but shootings and murders are still spiking compared with last year.
Nearly 3,800 people were shot in Chicago this year through the end of November, compared with about 2,400 shooting victims in the same period last year — a 58% increase.
Meanwhile, police reported 716 murders through the end of November, a 54% increase from the 464 murders during the same time last year.
Don't forget carjackings. Those are up a little bit, too.

Would you agree the world has changed a lot in the past 20 years? Almost too fast. Why is that? If you can get the people you want in public office and remove the opposition then that is probably the quickest way to reach an agenda. If money is no object then your chances increase.

You’ve got officers with no time on the job but because they’re in a specific DOG, they get the early side and beats that officers with time had previously had. The whole rumor of SGT’s get to pick there officers isn’t true at all. My secretary denied us the ability to switch DOGs in order to keep our beats, instead gave them to officers who practically just got off status. Even officers who have been partners for years are getting ripped apart because the DOG they have is stacked and obviously not the same. It’s making a whole lot of hell in 007 and a lot of POs are pissed. So much for keeping morale high. Any chance officers in 006 or 011, or 025 are having the same issues? From what we’ve heard we can’t even grieve it with the FOP according to the staff in 007. Apparently seniority has no bearings on DOGs, or who gets the early side, park cars or specific beats.

I disagree with the whole premise. Violent crime is "Up" across the board and every copper knows it. The only thing going down is prosecutions, and that means more real bad people on the streets and more violent crime in the streets.

The city won’t be able to start over with newer officers because there won’t be any interested in taking the job anymore. It’s become very very undesirable nationwide but more so in cities like Chicago that treat their police terribly. If a new kid were considering law enforcement why would they work for a mayor like Lightfoot and then be forced to reside in Chicago when they could go to any suburb or town in America and be treated better and live wherever they want? Also 4 years no contract. A terrible storm is brewing for recruiting in Chicago.

I don’t mind the guy and he’s probably better than Graham but what fighting has he done? Name one. We still go to training exposed to Covid. He held off arbitration for 6-7 months thinking Lightfoot was going to suddenly like us and be fair. Now we’re back to square one. Everyone saw that she was playing with FOP. She’s not a nice person. It’s not really his fault but what fighting for us has taken place? What have we won so far? He also talks about residency even campaigned on it, but what has he done about that?

I think 29 a day regardless of age should have the option of retiring with medical coverage like every other retiree. Guys that came on young are penalized and held hostage, and it’s not fair. As far as draining the pension? I don’t think there’s tht many that fall within your parameters to have a significant effect. I’d bet big money that there’s WAY more people over the years who have gamed the system via “disability” - if they really wanted to put a stop to it, they would, but too many connected people would be exposed. But then again, I’m jaded as I hit my 29 and a day today.

My secretary denied us the ability to switch DOGs in order to keep our beats, instead gave them to officers who practically just got off status. Even officers who have been partners for years are getting ripped apart because the DOG they have is stacked and obviously not the same. It’s making a whole lot of hell in 007 and a lot of POs are pissed. So much for keeping morale high. Any chance officers in 006 or 011, or 025 are having the same issues? From what we’ve heard we can’t even grieve it with the FOP according to the staff in 007. Apparently seniority has no bearings on DOGs, or who gets the early side, park cars or specific beats.

Will it drain our pension even more or would it be good because the city can start over with newer Officers? I wonder how many people are between 50 and 54 years of age that can’t retire because of this?

ONCE AGAIN.. This been covered.
The PBPA arbitration that was settled in June by Abitrator George Rommell made his decision.
He stated to have members age 51 to 54 retire with a health care package would be too much of a burden on the pension.
SO.. What this means is the next arbitrator that FOP will have will state the SAME EXACT THING.. the "age 55" deal will be the youngest you can go to get the insurance AND YOU WILL PAY 3.5% like PBPA and Fire Local 2.
Age 60 people WILL PAY 1.5%.
Age 63 will remain free.
Any complainants blame PBPA units for volunteering to pay the higher amounts which is clearly documented in Arbitrator Rommell's decision thereby screwing FOP members as well as CFD.
Watching the hearings on the rampant voter fraud in the swing states, it struck me funny that an owner of Dominion Voting Systems referred to the Detroit Wayne County operation as The Chicago Warehouse.

Common sense yes it will drain the pension more, the pension is rapidly depleting and the mayor will not do what is required by law (when do democrats ever obey laws anyway?), many are over 50 you can retire get a pension if you have the minimum time and find another career if that is your desire!

The city has already acknowledged on several occasions that 55 and out was a mistake, big time. Getting all those people to retire helped with the budget in the very short term but hurt the pension big time in the long run. Until there is some major improvement in the funding ratio of the pension fund, you will not see any enhancements to the current limits. The percentage charged for health care will also increase. Don't waste your time hoping for lowering of the age. It is not going to happen anytime in the near future, at least not until well after you are retired.

He also talks about residency even campaigned on it, but what has he done about that?
