Of Course They Did

They always do:

  • The city of Chicago dismissed the majority of tickets issued to Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s security detail by red-light and speed cameras, including some that were recorded at times when the mayor was scheduled to be attending non-city events, records show.

Since Lightfoot became mayor in May 2019, the police security detail assigned to her protection has received 13 tickets for speed and red-light camera violations, and 10 of those have been dismissed, records show.

Though city officials did not address specific questions about her whereabouts at the time each ticket was issued, listings in her official calendar show some were given at times when her calendar suggests she was on the way home from a personal event or en route to a “non-city breakfast.”

And of course, Reason #1 for dismissing the tickets:

  • As a candidate, Lightfoot promised to reform the city’s fines and fees program, saying it was regressive and focused on generating revenue, not safety.

“The red-light camera program was sold to Chicagoans as a public safety solution, but it’s really been about revenue — and those fines fall disproportionately on people of color,” Lightfoot said at the time.

If you can't live up to at least ONE campaign promise, what good are you?

Does anyone know of a number I can call or e-mail to get this resolved ? There used to be a way to expedite leo cards but I'm told that's not the case anymore.

the beauty of kommunism is that we are ALL EQUAL ! however due to human nature and all systems being run by real human beings with friends and family and private agendas, some people always end up MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS . kommunism like heroin sounds great on paper but not so much in da real world. so you dummys in copland better not run any red lights unless you have a c note to burn. the party base in the uncivilized no go zones in the death provinces will get a break, cuz racism. and of course the ruling kommisars of the politburo will always be exempt from the peoples laws because the are MORE EQUAL than mere commoners. so komrades, kool your jets and watch those city fines. the only way that the wonders of equality and fairness could work is if were totally run by incorruptable robots who ruled every aspect of our lives. maybe thats why the tech oligarchs from google, amazon, fuckbook, microsoft et al are all in on socialism and democratic anarchy for us peasants. MOTCOC (Mayor of the City of Chicago), just like POTUS or FLOTUS) as she is known in some circles is not just a silenced passenger in Car One. The dignitary might not give minute to minute instructions to the drivers but is quite aware how they are driving. The dignitary will at times give instruction as to how quickly they want to get to a location. Even Rahm’s detail was guilty of speeding and blowing lights. So far they have been quite lucky in not plowing into someone.

The cure: Make MOTCOC ride with the young police rangers flying to those in progress calls on the West Side. Throw in some high speed chases that happen to end up on the expressway and don’t let them graduate from the rides of their lives until they leave skid marks in their diapers.

Funny how the AlderCreatures just passed a new rule saying now that anyone speeding over 6 miles per hour over the posted speed limit will be ticketed...but yet the Mayor does what she wants, do as I say not as I do? Will the media confront her about this while the rest of the citizens pay out??? Why not, they called out Rhams detail when they did that...Love to hear what shell have o say, you know she doesn't like being called out, esp when she's in the WRONG!!!

The Mayor's speeding tickets should be dismissed since she is 'the face of our city' and it's critical that she get to her non-business breakfasts, lunches, dinners, birthday parties, etc.

'regressive' - funny how the liberals use that word. What it really means if that if you have $ you should pay more because ... you have $. So you both run the same red light and one guy should pay more because he can afford it.

Hey, the price of Chicken at Jewel is apparently also 'regressive.' Matter of fact every product subject to the laws of supply and demand are also 'regressive.'

I don't think traffic fines are indeed fair and are just revenue generators. They need revenue so instead of being upfront they raise fines and fees. No one speaks for the traffic violator or the cigarette smoker (favored target of the SJW - not so much when it comes to weed fees) so they can just raise fees without worry about opposition.

It not fair that a low wage worker, someone going work every day, and probably night, to support a family to get fanged a week's take home income for running a red light.

The fine should be high enough to deter the conduct and not as a device to generate general fund revenue.

$50 will deter most people. I don't think Bill Gates worries too much about getting a ticket and a fine, but the guy working as a day laborer surely does.

I did not know that traffic lights were racist. I guess they were electronically programmed to only capture license plates of black drivers violating the law.

Disproportionately against people of color? Who disproportionately commits most of the violent crime in this city, state, and country. Who disproportionately disregards any sort of traffic laws. I could keep going but why..

12/01/2020 08:18:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

So, these fines " fall primarily on people of color".That might be accurate but what is the reason for this? Racist cameras? More cameras in black areas then in the rest of the city? Or is it behavior ? No one answers these questions. Adverse impact seems just a way to ignore the cause.

Larri’s prerogative to get home ‘cuz she left a pot roast simmering on stove...now you try and argue that before a city hearing clerk.

I once seen her entourage when I was coming back from a doctors appointment up on Oakton in Evanston/Skokie midday, wondering now how many red lights she’s on the hook for in the collar suburbs during the Covid’s lockdowns since March.

(Addendum A, to prior post comment)
More budget stuff fount;
Larri’s Commurnity Immunity program forgave $11.5 million in fines for 2020 (an election year perk?) granting 11,000 motorists a pass just in city sticker violation fines. City sticker revenues are expected to increase (for chumps only) in 2022 when Larri assesses a Consumer Price Increase adjustment as she’s doing with Property Taxes.

Funny thing though is I had a relative check themselves in for depression (Not Suicidal) and within a week of being discharged they got a letter saying that they must give up their FOID card and any weapons to the State. Amazing how they can do that in a timely manner but make law abiding citizens wait for a FOID. I cant wit to retire and move to a more friendly state.

The FOID and xxl cards are being purposefully held back by the pritzker Administration in the dictates of theDNC. It’s goal is to limit the amount of firearms in Illinois. Blm must be very happy because that’s who running this state now.

The matter is in court as we speak, a lawsuit filed by the Illinois Rifle Assn. One of the plantiffs has been waiting two years to get his concealed carry card. Allegedly, JB took most of the money allocated to the program and transferred it to another area of government and the program is shorthanded. I and many I have talked to think this is just JB's way of gun control. It took me 3.5 months to renew my FOID card. If a citizen applies for their FOID card and then their CC card, it is taking about a year to complete the process

Had the same problem with foi renewal. Go to your fop book state police directory and call the headquarters number in springfield. Got bounced around a few times and then connected to office where they process everything. Came in the mail a few weeks later after talking to an officer there. 217-786-6677.
