A judge has ordered Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office to pay $16,000 in legal fees to the family of a slain taxi driver who sued to get case documents.
Taxi driver Anis Tungekar died in 2018 after he was kicked in the head by an Uber driver during a traffic dispute. The Uber driver left the country before he was charged with murder three months later.
Tungekar’s family believed internal case documents could explain the delay despite a police recommendation that murder charges be filed. The family sued Foxx’s office, alleging the documents were being kept from them in violation of Illinois open records law.
Cook County Judge Neil Cohen sided with the family and ordered most of the documents be released last fall. On Nov. 20, the same judge ordered the state’s attorney’s office to reimburse the family for their legal costs.

Kim Foxx’s office has purged numerous case files as well. No one is mentioning it but there were several cases that were “dismissed” or plead out to misdemeanors that the cases were purged when an FOIA was requested.

To the Country peasantry, you are not allowed to criticize the State’s Attorney’s Office, we do not tolerate dissent, you are risking persecution for utterances.
When you believe you are above the law, you believe you are entitled to disregard the law. The money should have come out of the personal paycheck of Foxx. That the only way to make pols accountable, hitting them in their pocket, making them realize there are personal consequences for their illegitimate decisions. Shortshanks should have had to pay out of his wallet, instead of Chicago taxpayers, when Feds fined Shortshanks/Chicago for ripping up Meigs Field.
Good! She and her office are the reason that piece of shit is still free instead of rotting in jail. Tungekar’s family is never going to get peace now because of that low life bitch. How anyone voted for Foxx this election is beyond me, but if that’s what this county wants, have at it!

So they screwed around looking for context for three months. So did she say what the circumstances were, of course not. The context is in the video. Offender kicks victim in the head, victim dies two days later. Simple case to prove with video and DNA on offender’s shoe. The offender should have been charged with something and held without bond do to the fact he was a flight risk.
The incompetence of Foxx and SAO is astounding. So to add insult to injury now the taxpayers have to pay that $15,000.00. Foxx and her minions should have to pay that money out of their pockets. And that poor family, not only was their relative taken from them but they were injured again when the offender fled to China due to Foxx’s ineptitude. Time to start a recall of the SA if it is the law.
That was an absolute failure, and a disgrace.
The attack was on video, and he was caught on scene.
Anyone involved with the decision not to charge should have their law license reviewed, and be spanked good and hard if it can’t be pulled.
That family as denied justice by Foxx’s office, despite the CPD wanting to charge the case.
And now the offender is in China, never to return.
I wonder if there is some way the family can now sue her office civilly for emotional distress, over knowing the killer is still free after they let him go?
She’s still immune. Or do you think that money came out of Foxx’ pocket?

If her office had complied with the request for the documents, there would've been no media attention. The litigation didn't garner media attention. Her office's failure and lack of cooperation with a victim's family garnered media attention. Refusing to prosecute a murder caught on video is just the incompetence icing on the fail cake. Worthless at doing her job. Worthless at coming up with excuses when she constantly fails to do her job. Worthless at presenting any sort of case for reelection. But the dumbass voters of Shitcago voted for her again. We have the dumbest voters in the history of the world. So greedy and self-centered that they vote for whoever can give them the most free handouts and keep their criminal lifestyle going. I can't wait to get the fuck out of here.

I had a few cases in front of Cohen over the years. A fair judge. He'd fuck you up if you brought a bullshit case in front of him, but he also didn't brook any nonsense from the defense if they tried some shenanigan argument. Can't ask or expect much more than that from a Crook County judge.

Cohen is the judge the keeps fucking the retirees around. He took apart the case and made it a Mandlebrot fractal out of it, splitting hair after hair until nobody was entitled to nothing. He looks like Nosferatu, which might explain why he once complained about being abused by an "older woman" during one of his tirades. Fuck that guy.
