Officer Shot

Injury described as "not life threatening:"

  • A Chicago police officer was shot in the hand during an exchange of gunfire on the city's South Side on Monday.

The incident happened in the 5600 block of South Shields in the Englewood neighborhood. The officer had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital.

Two other officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police were expected to give a news conference later on Monday with more details.

Hand injuries can be career-threatening though.

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery to the Officer

007 seems to be getting particularly hard-hit the past few years.

He's not some 2 year wonder either, this is one of our better people; a really good copper, through and through.

I'm hurting...

Waller the Baller says no one in custody. Why is that? Answer?โ€ฆ dumb kids playing tactical hero with 3 years on da job. If you accidentally shoot your partner can you still get a merit bump to sarge or dick? Asking for a friend. Remember !!! Danger is no stranger to an Englewood ranger!!! LMFBO!

Permanent disability sounds about right for this officer. 75% of your pay tax free, free medical until 63 because your hands can't function anymore. Best thing no more having to show up to work. Seek outside legal assistance not through the clown attorneys the FOP has.

Things arenโ€™t always as they seem. These kids playing police sure ainโ€™t the โ€œrangersโ€ of yesteryear. Not only does friendly fire hurt, itโ€™s quite embarrassing ..

Could be a case of โ€œ friendly fireโ€? Goes to show what can happen when you placed snot nose boys who havenโ€™t paid their dues on the street. They think having been on the job two or three years qualifies them to leap frog over more and better qualified officers. Letโ€™s see how this plays out.

"non-life-threatening injuries"
To the average TV watching numb nuts that means inconsequential. Bovine excretion.
There needs to be a medical category called "non life threatening, but very fucked up"

Just saw the bodycam video on WGN. Idiot shooter had tattoos up and down both arms. He should be fired. He very easily could have shot his partner in the back of the head. There aren't enough bad names to label this fool. Resign asshat. It's been years since you could shoot at a fleeing vehicle. He followed the fleeing vehicle with his weapon. Right through putting his partner in his line of fire.
