Shortages Continue
Up north, the 16th and 17th District Chicago Police Scanner twitter account cites the following:
- Through calls of catalytic converter thefts, robberies and backlogs, this was the manpower in the 16th district last night. Beats 1611, 1612, 1623 & 1632 don't have any officers assigned to their areas. Beats 1624 &. 1631 only had one officer assigned. A total of 14 officers available to respond to calls.
They also have a picture of the worksheets up (redacted)L
We used to ask people to send us copies of the sheets in an effort to provoke the media into actually covering the manpower shortages. Didn't work to any great extent, but it was an honest effort.

Media is all millennial and gen Z now. If you want contact with them you will need to post on TikTok, Facebook, twitter and all the other apps that drain the brain and make you the docile retard China wants you to be.

This reflects on the irresponsibility and the negligence of the chain of command to allow this, which has been going on for years. Time to step up now, instead of bloviating at member’s funerals when it’s too late. Can anyone from the CFD comment on whether an engine, truck or amb. be allowed to go out short. And yes SCC, trying to provoke the news media into to covering this is fruitless as they are the cheerleaders and censors for the Machine promoting the woke stories. CWB covers what the local media fails to tell you.

I'm so glad I filed for disability after my On Duty accident that keeps me from being the police, but I rather be physically handicap than mentally. The last 5 years on this job was mentally stressful with the stuff the department puts out. I don't miss the job at all. So for those who have sustained life altering injuries on duty don't be scared to go for disability take the gamble it's worth it for your mental state.

One man units working first watch. Thought that was a big no no. The deputy chief gets a copy of these sheets everyday and does nothing. If a commander complains he/she gets launched.
I got out at a good time. Was just talking to a buddy at the gas station the other day and learned ISP is right there with you guys and gals. I can't fathom how short folks are these days. The worst part for ol' ISP is the leadership is axing everything in favor of teams or special groups (SOGs I think my buddy said?) No joke, axing patrol (towns/counties suffer) to make these teams in order to push numbers in certain areas and if you don't hit the numbers you get disciplined (as if going back to patrol is a bad thing?). Basically, it's ISP leadership way around the ol' quota. Don't know the story but when they changed from Districts to Troops statewide, there's nobody on the roads anymore. Depts that relied on ISP patrol are waiting hours for a response due to the distance to each call (I don't really know if that's true but he said it sucked). Lastly, I heard the one guy rank and file were excited to have rise in the ranks, some Owens guy, is actually a nutter, in way over his head now. It's a shame, morale is in the tank and folks are super short staffed. As usual, the folks that suffer and pay for it are the same, the taxpayer! I really wish this gets better for all you. I truly believe you guys and gals need to be paid or have better benefits because this is ridiculous.

O.T. I saw our new (old) CPD helicopter yesterday. Sounds like an old Army UH-1h from miles away. Wop...Wop,,,Wop Maybe it's an upgrade? Nice paint job though.
How desperate is the department for new officers, well....the department has been sending recruiters out to roll call to pass out cards to help them solicit new recruits. When the recruiter went to hand me his card I told him no thanks that I have been doing the opposite of what he's doing and that I actually discouraged people from coming on the job and have talked several applicants that were going through the process out of coming on our job I'm proud to say I have discouraged approximately 12 to 15 good people from coming on this job and ruining their family lives. I don't want to hear argument about we need people to come on a job to help pay into our pension, too bad I won't allow to happen to good people.

You went through the hiring process, 6 months at the academy, 3 with an FTO all in the effort to turn you into a police officer.
Yet some want to be half ass teachers and secretaries because they are afraid of the street. AND THE DEPARTMENT ALLOWS THIS!
There's a LT in the 1st Deputy's Office that can count her time on the street by WEEKS. Sgts and Officers afraid of a Bear Car.

Don’t get me started how officers on the watch are assigned to mandatory alphabet “training” (FIP, CP, UoF, etc.) during the busy summer months. Sometimes 4-5 a watch are assigned to training on a Friday leaving the beat cars dangerously undermanned. Why? So you can sit in a classroom getting PowerPoint presentations from 5 year wonders on how not to police…or drive the 1990s “driving simulator”? (Insider Tip: bring a barf bag to class.) LOL…It’s Clown World. The only training we need is more LEMART training and much much more time on the shooting range.

Couldn't have said it better! Don't forget about 4 instructors teching one class in the academy, some of which have only few years on and read the slides for 15 minutes. That is their tour of duty. What a joke!!!

And don’t forget they got rid of the private company that was doing this taking over the teaching and they had to bring in a whole lot of street coppers to do the training so they shorted more off the street. Stupid is as stupid does.

They don't want to talk about black on black crime. Larry Elders, who's running for president, talks of this and the fatherless homes in the black community but of course they just call him an Uncle Tom for such radical views. In my district, only approximately 10 of the 70 spots on on 2nd watch regularly worked the street. Everyone else was admin/inside spots when bids came out. Again only 10 actually worked the street. Government work at its finest. It was eventually corrected. But jeesh.

002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011 are always in a backlog too.
Until we put more people in a Beat Car, this isn't going to change.

Hard to do, unless you start dumping and gutting the Academy and 35th Street, put those chickenshits that are scared of a domestic back in a car and remind them that they are the "police" and not a secretary.
New hires- who wants this job? Especially here. So it's going to be hard getting quality candidates for the job. It's 18months from the time they start until they start to become useful on the street.
In 016 Saturday morning there was a catalytic converter robbery. Car pulled up in front the hot dog place next to the Emeral Isle on Northwest Hwy they got out of car and in the process were confronted by business owner. Badguy doing security pulled a gun on him. No fear of the police
