Larry Snelling’s days in the $260,004-a-year hot seat reserved for Chicago’s police superintendent probably won’t get any better than Wednesday.
By a 48-0 vote, the Chicago City Council confirmed the man Mayor Brandon Johnson called a “son of Englewood,” with alderpersons from across the city singing his praises as the antithesis of David Brown, his unpopular predecessor.
The posturing started immediately:
Council rules were suspended to give Snelling an opportunity to address the body, pleading with alderpersons and the people they represent to treat his officers with respect, to join them in fighting crime and, above all, to judge them fairly.
“Anybody will tell you this: I hold officers accountable. I will call officers out. When we have bad officers, I will call them out. But when our officers are held accountable, they have to be held accountable fairly,” said Snelling, 54.
Progressive aldercreatures are still going to pander to their leftist base, even with a 48-0 vote.
Larry is still going to follow orders, even if it's to strip Officers attempting to exercise bodily autonomy.
Now word is leaking out that the Department is at least 1,900 officers short, and that's on top of the 2,000 unfilled spots Groot and Rahm eliminated in their budgets, and so far this year CPD retirements are outpacing hiring.

Off Topic: for any of those who thought Snelling didn’t get mixed up with the Covid direct orders. 23 PB 3034 listed in full view on Chicago’s website has him directly named ordering an officer to comply or be fired. Officer refused the order and is now officially facing termination by his hand. He is not your friend. He will testify against you without a second thought. Just because the guy can complete pushups doesn’t make him a strong moral/ethical leader. And of course we know he is a double merit so he lacks intelligence too. Why not make ALL exempt vehicles blue and white squad cars?.

Today’s, CPD Supervisors keeping the unit divided, setting out to get officers, toxic, discussing officers medical history with other officers, ducks everything, hides out the entire tour, refusing to show up to prior 1 jobs, can’t make a decision, fighting over the district desk position, clueless to the gang factions in the district, approving incomplete case reports, over-promoted into positions they can’t handle, insecure, narcissistic personality, too lazy to put officers in for awards for their outstanding work, fifty uniforms, disciplinary history longer than their subordinates, incompetent, medical abusers, sleeping around on the job, no problem solving skills, no interpersonal skills, no leadership skills, lacks self-awareness and empathy and the desire to do better. The list goes on and on.
All exempts are promoted off of the backs of officers, and because of the secrets they know. That’s nothing new.

The Dept has been using Snelling as their Use of Force expert almost as soon as he showed up in the Physical Training Unit at the Academy. Why? I'm not totally sure but I think because he was tasked at that time with revising the Use of Force model and I believe the Dept felt he was the most knowledgeable because of that.

Let's be the police we were 20 years ago before bodycams and ISR's brought police work to a screeching halt. Remember the ACLU got involved? With Rahm's blessing? Lets put a bodycam on every surgeon, nurse, anesthesiologist, etc. We can grab a beer when our FOI Act video arrives, then delve into out surgical expertise and criticize the surgeon's every move. Hey the surgeon should have closed that suture in 30 seconds, why did it take 2 minutes? ANd during that time the surgeon grinned and made a joke with the nurse. Reckless homicide?

No, it's not the be-all-end-all. Cops still work wearing bodycams. But layer all this shit on top of each other and this is what we get. Lets lay an ISR, that takes 3 hours to complete, on top of that.

They wanted to know if you have or have not. And if you have not you had to just go and get tested. It was a great rally cry but it was also embarrassing. If you choose that not letting someone know weather you’re vaccinated or not get in the way of possibly supporting your family then you’re either very well off and didn’t even need the job, eligible for retirement or you’re a moron.

You know what's sad about fellow blue shirts? They talk shit to other blue shirts when they can.
I hope I never have to hear you have a 10-1 fundraiser because I would love to to hear why you did the right there. Because officers like you would roll over like a house dog for any bosses order just for the sake of the "pay".
