Just so you know, there's a marathon happening in Chicago.
This year's route has taken great pains to avoid the neighborhoods associated with gunfire and robberies.
Additionally, the intersection takeovers and non-demonized yutes perfuming the air with burning rubber will be asked politely to cease such hi-jinks at least two hours before the marathon begins. Failing that, they will be asked again. Should a third asking be required, a strongly worded editorial piece shall be prepared for the Monday newspapers.

I recently found out the old suckhole "CR sergeant" was gone from 20. Seems he is now working for the luxurious Mayor detail. Never did a lick of work in 20 just jammed us working cops. Same guy got put in for "Merit" while never stepping foot on the streets except to get food. Comical. You have to love the way things work here. Good riddance to this rub.
So, a route devoid of the authentic Chicago experiences?
That would mean outside of the city's borders, as far west of Harlem Ave as there still are buildings, and not roads like trails thru the primeval forests....
And just where would that neighborhood be?
Look at the bright side. All that crime should make the runners achieve new records.

If you want to have a race that does not go through bad Chicago neighborhoods, move it to Barrington. But watch out for Rolling Ghettos.

SCC, Can you please do a separate post about the number of people assigned to the Mayors detail ( I think it’s like 170) and what an absolute waste it is? Also, how these members were chosen to go there.

CME Head Duffy Says Chicago Needs To Get Its Act Together
Now, CME Group, Inc. - which has over a century of history rooted in Chicago, is warning much the same. According to CEO Terry Duffy, they'll cut bait and drop Chicago like a hot stone - and in fact, have begun the process of uncoupling from the dysfunctional city.
"I liquidated every piece of real estate in the state," Duffy said in an interview last week, according to Bloomberg. "I have leases where I am in an advantageous position, because now I can renegotiate. They’re all coming due. We like Chicago. There’s no reason for us to want to leave. But at the same time, if the atmosphere gets to the point where it’s intolerable, we have no choice."
His commitment to Chicago is being tested as stubbornly high crime rates and a slew of taxes — including a financial-transaction levy proposed by Mayor Brandon Johnson — have him considering his options. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has already said he opposes the tax proposal, but he won’t be at the helm forever, Duffy said.

The Murder City Marathon is an annual event with much hoopla and fanfare. People running a daily marathon are running for their lives on a daily basis in Murder City, but without the hoopla and fanfare.

Last anyone heard it was up to 150 officers and counting. Remember this detail was increased to protect dignitaries and VIPs next August during the DNC convention. Once the convention is over some of them may (or may not) be getting bounced back to a beat car.
21st Century International Marathon of Migrants
Chicago Marathon has to be one of the most boring events of all time. It's not like runners are trans-versing the Darion gap. Now if the course made runners cross the Chicago river and the sanitary canal using inter-tubes that might help. If the finish line was made of razor wire I betcha a Venezuelan would probably win putting those Ethiopian runners to shame, No cap!
Chicago marathon should hand out those disposable personal protection shoe covers like you see surgeons wear, the plastic baggies with the elastic tops. Running through the puddles of blood in the streets splashing and spattering it around is not safe. Surgical gowns for tourists on the sidelines too.
Many of those on the mayor's detail also have to drive around the mayor's family members. Play Uber/cab for them.
Chicago Decathlon of Crimes is much more entertaining.
Master of ceremonies Brandon Johnson hosts. Come wear your colors and represent your favorite sect. Catch a participation trophy in one of the many calibers (.45, .38, 9mm...) You have the 100 meter backyard fence hurdles, 400 meter stolen cash register run, the pistol toss, car-jacker relay race, brick and bottle shot-put, shoot and loot and much much more. 365 days a year in a never ending competition people (and folks) compete to see who will win, be the last person standing of the all around event. Mt Sinai and/or Strogers Hosp should sponsor it with all the business they get or maybe Medicaid I don't know.
