Ha, hardly! I just listened to Waller interviewed by Sun Times and all I can say is wow!!! How and why did the Mayor pick this guy to be interim? I’m hearing Snelling wasn’t to happy with most of the promotions he snuck in before he left so some major changes are coming within the next week or so. Snelling is not from the same internal click as Waller and had to play nice in front of the media but I’m hearing he was truly appalled by most of the changes. I wouldn’t get too comfortable if I were some of those exempts. Also, as recent Superintendents made some unprecedented moves, you will be shocked as to who the 1st deputy will be and some of the bureau chiefs. Let’s just say it will make national headlines if true… Stay tuned!

I would be surprised if Devries is Chief of Patrol. He is supposed to be the next Chief of BOC. He hasn't left Homan Square in over 5 years going from Lt, to Commander, to Deputy Chief without leaving the building. I've heard Snelling likes him. I have no problem with the man. I've never heard anything bad about him other than from crybabies who didn't get the merit bump they felt they deserved.
Here is the thing about Merit. Who from upper management isn't merit?? I would like to see a list of the entire department Command staff. How many Commanders and above didn't get at least one merit bump???? I hit my 26 year anniversary next month (not old enough for medical/top 100 seniority for Sgt's/test score). I can only think of a few. JA was the Commander of 001 he was test score for everything until Captain(all Captains merit). Shemash is probably test score all the way (completely useless). I'm sure there's more.
Those of us who have worked our ass off for decades can name hundreds of test score supervisors who you wouldn't want in charge of the Bingo game in the community room let alone anything on the street. Sgt's and Lt's just did a survey about merit. I ripped the whole promotion process, not just merit. Part 1 of the test is joke as there are always questions without the right answer and part 2 is totally subjective. I can you tell for fact that extra points were given on the last LT test if you told the officers thanks for all your hard work and ensure you debrief them to make sure they are ok mentally. Can you tell what General order told you to say that???? What does that have to do with handling a shooting and protest???? The last Lt test wreaks of Notify the WC from the past. I have no doubt the last LT test was rigged as usual. I say this because complaining about merit is only half the problem.

The rank of Commander and above in Chicago Police Department in the last 10 -15 years has been filled by incompetent buffoons. Those who are not lucky enough to be chosen as a Bureau Chief or Deputy Superintendent mostly likely stepped on their own dicks or shit the bed, causing too much embarrassment to cover up, so they leave prematurely for some cushy job and the next buffoon steps up. Merit and phone calls ruined this once fine department.

Here's some unsolicited advice from a retired guy. Keep your head down, watch your patterns back, laugh often, and go home to your family. The clown show of bosses will always be there.
This is somewhat accurate. There will be some last minute jockeying and phone calls for the politically clouted. It’s crazy at HQ right now, Waller is staying the rest of the year as a consultant of some sort and everyone is in camps waiting to see who’s getting what. Larry’s people are all smiles while Carter’s people are looking for moving boxes. Chief of Patrols Office will take the first whack from the hatchet, from what I’m told. Your fearless HQ informant will continue to traverse the cavernous halls of the building to see what else I can dig up..

I worked with Da’shae many moons ago, she’s a stickler about getting things done. She can be a bit compulsive, but that wouldn’t bother me. NW, we’ll I’ll just leave that alone.

When Commander Harris was a Captain in 002, he would literally walked past officers and wouldn’t speak. He would look straight ahead and ignore officers that spoke to him. I’m not surprised that he’s a morale buster in 001.
God help us all if "Lt KA Giving Brain" becomes a commander. This woman has brought down morale at the Area. Please send her to the 2nd district so she can continue to check on the young PO's Wellness, just get her out of the Area. This lady doesn't know shit about the D-Unit.
