CCL Winner
- Three people were shot, one fatally, in an exchange of gunfire on the city's Northwest Side early Saturday. Police said a 31-year-old man was in the 1600 of North Hamlin Avenue around 1:17 a.m. when he was approached by a vehicle with two men inside. The two men began to shoot firearms at the victim.
The victim, who is a concealed carry license holder, pulled out his own gun and returned fire, police said.
One of the men in the vehicle, age 44, was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim was shot in the torso and taken to a hospital in fair condition, police said. The other man in the vehicle, age 37, was shot in the shoulder and also taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Robbery? Or hit? Or mistaken identity for a hit?
Regardless, there still ought to be a fund to buy CCL holders who successfully defend themselves a new box of ammo afterwards. It might encourage more people to help out.

CPD should hire this guy to train shooting techniques. Way too many PD shots fired with no one hit.
This one will may have an interesting outcome.
The CCL holder basically finished off the guy who fired at him...and live streamed it.
Part of me hopes he has any charges dropped, because everyone involved is a POS.
Sometimes you just have to fight back.

Well now, since you are essentially an observer, an audience, a voyeur of sorts, perhaps you could create a new fly on the wall sport on this.
The sport of identifying, in your opinion, when any event occurs that sufficiently displays those specified qualities of a Paul Kersey/Bernhard Goetz occurence.
Much like heyjackass informs the statistics on a day/night to day/night basis.

It would be great publicity (and a damned smart business decision) to see a few local gun ranges offer a free range session, with a box of ammo, to any CCL permit holder that uses their gun for self defense.
Where were the CPD foot patrols at?
Every IROC and CCL card holder should have insurance like USCCA. It's will be worth the money if you ever need it. Attorney David McDermott of Homewood works with USCCA and is an expert in CCL defense.

It's unfortunate that the CCL was hit and had to hang around.
Otherwise, the best course of action would have been shoot-and-scoot.
That way, it gets written off as a public service shooting and the Ds file it under 'Don't bother looking'.

Candy is dandy, butt, liquor is quicker.....
In light of recent court rulings and high crime rates, EVERYONE in the state should call their legislators and demand that Illinois institute permit less Constitutional Carry for law abiding citizens.
Why not? The criminals already have it
And no bodyguards for elected officials. Let them carry their own protection.
Maybe a Steak at Gibsons? LOL
