Until we see total indemnification, relief from punitive damages and charging the criminals who flee, you shouldn't even consider chasing anyone.

I wish certain north side tact teams would read this blog.
That’s to include foot pursuits also. They want to make us jump thru all kinds of hoops and reports and second guessing for chasing someone on foot… well guess what, I don’t need to do it anymore. Says so right in the order. Sorry he got away, but here’s your paper.

But I see all minds of cool car chases on "Chicago P. D."

Give them nothing until we see total indemnification, relief from punitive damages AND charging the criminals who flee; you should not consider chasing offenders. Kimmy does not have your back and the Department is not trustworthy.
When the criminals became politicians they stopped the chase’s. From the beginning of policing the Police would always chase the bad guys. That is what they do. Now some weird-O though no chasing is good. Now what are the Police to do? Nothing. How did they think that was going to workout. This idea had to come from someone who is clueless about crime and policing. What happens in the end, public is screwed along with city living. What is even dumber is other cities thought this was a good policy and copied it.
But...But....
I'll be the toast of the town, catching them get away cars @ 100 mph down Damen...

Then who needs the police? Perfect argument for defunding the police. Just a bunch of way overpaid report writers tha show after the crime and document it. Who needs that? City could save hundreds of millions of dollars by putting the report forms on line and allowing victims to self report. Sorry but the fetal concept of fetal policing is total waste of time and more importantly tax dollars.
And always remember, you will never get in trouble if you let the criminal go.

Yes, why don't we give that a try? Have the city take the millions spent on funding CPD and reinvest that into the "community". I am sure that amongst all the vacant, trash filled lots and abandoned buildings of the south and west sides will blossom vibrant neighborhoods safe for all mankind. The dope boys and weed man will also be able to turn into legitimate retail salesmen. The day-to-day violence that plagues this city will most certainly come to an end once the spigot is opened to allow the cash to flow to neighborhoods that I am sure will not squander it in a short period of time.
History has shown that you cannot throw money at a problem and suddenly expect a solution. Allowing the police to police is part of the answer, but if the people in certain parts of the city do not want to change their ways, then don't expect the conversation to be any different next year.
The bad guys get free passes.

The 'city' would not be 'saving' anything, as:
A. The 'city' has nothing. Not one penny. Nor does the 'city' have millions of dollars of debt.
B. ALL valuables are the property of the Payers of Taxes.
C. Any 'savings' of the dunned monies would be grafted as all monies dunned from the Payers of Taxes are.
D. The only quality of 'sorry' that you display is your sorry assbrain.

Self report? I'm not a po but am sure none of them would say this but part of the problem with the police are the people wbo hystrionically call. Swatting is a real thing just like people making up stuff about anyone they don't like.

But Pinocchios are saying she was not at Christmas party hmm many cameras when you drive drunk and kill innocent person you need to be charged, who is her clout if true? Loss of police powers does not happen for an accident. The coppers few years ago even touted how superintendent of police was drunk! We’re there tests given blood draw?
i recall when the Asian woman was struck and killed by a tac Sgt. in an unmarked car downtown around 20 years ago. they sent 1 Sgt. and 1 PO from every district to HQ for the new pollicy regarding chases. THEN, I summed it up in 5 words...Dont Chase No Fuckin Body.Evidently some still missed the memo.
I'm sure the private attorney will supena the party videos and possibly personal phones relative to the crash. Get ready to be part of a civil law deposition that can land you a Rule 14 or worse perjury. Just like Sup Jonshon and his own bafoonary, sht rolled down hill from the primary responders to a white t. Tragically, someone died, but think about for a minute...what would happen if it was your own loved one.

What the general public dont see is what a po has to do to make the decision to chase. The city is not a place to have a car chase. Yes the department and the city had given us strict conditions and rules to chase. Its not worth it.....the city streets are a mindfield, people and drivers do not listen to the sierns or blue lights. The general public think that police are protected if something goes wrong. Geneeral public think the police arent doing their job if they dont chase. The department, the city and the private lawyers will burn the po that chases that ends up bad. Po's are under a lot of pressure when they show up to a hot call and to go through the list of things to do for a car chase is very paticular. In a nutshell, DONT CHASE its not worth it. There are pod cameras, red light cameras that can follow the getaway car better than risking the po's and the general public being hurt or killed beacause of a bad chase. The deparment doesnt even train po's to chase people either.
