Aldercreature Abuses Process
These body camera videos are turning out to have all sorts of beneficial side effects:
- Newly-acquired Chicago police body camera video shows an Albany Park
man being arrested for battering a Chicago alderman at a River North
bar, even though the alderman says that’s not what happened. Ulises Ortiz, 33, of Albany Park, spent 20 hours in police custody after Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) signed complaints against him outside Boss Bar, 420 North Clark, on October 7.
The CPD arrest report and criminal complaint in the case court file identify Reilly as the victim who was struck with a belt during a dispute over a game of pool.“A city alderman was struck in the face and refused medical attention on the scene,” said a preliminary notification to CPD’s Crime Prevention and Information Center shortly after Ortiz’s arrest. “It is not believed the alderman was targeted due to the alderman’s position with the city.”
Reilly has consistently denied that he was battered since we first asked him about the incident two months ago. He called the allegations made in the police report and criminal complaint “totally inaccurate.”
So why, pray tell, did the aldercreature sign complaints and then hide from Detectives for twenty hours?
“Hey, alderman,” the officer says. “It’s a felony, by the way, and, uh, I’ll sign it,” Reilly begins, shaking the cop’s hand.
“No problem,” replies the cop. “So what do I gotta do?” asks Reilly.
As a backup officer arrives, the first cop briefs him: “He threw a belt at the alderman. He wants to sign a complaint…”
“How are ya?” Reilly asks the backup officer, extending his hand for a shake.
“I’ll show up to court, too,” Reilly says moments later, as he signs two complaint forms against Ortiz.
Asked about the situation on Thursday, Reilly said he signed the complaints without reading them. “I signed the report having not read it,” the alderman said today. “I signed it quickly because the guy was belligerent, violent and needed to be removed from the neighborhood so he wouldn’t try to hurt anyone else.”
Um, that isn't why we have complaints signed Brendan. Complaints are signed because someone is saying under oath that a law has been broken, you're a victim and you're willing to testify to that in front of a judge.
Police records show CPD officers pursued the matter as a felony charge of aggravated battery in a public place. Ortiz remained in police custody for 20 hours as investigators tried to contact Reilly, according to the arrest report.
At 5 p.m. the next day, some 19 hours after Ortiz was arrested, a detective determined that they could not pursue felony charges because they could not get in touch with the alderman, the report said. Ortiz, who had never been arrested before, was released about an hour later, charged only with a misdemeanor.
So the aldercreature lied (by omission) to police, then attested falsely (by signature), using the police as bouncers, then hid long enough for the offender to be released on a misdemeanor charge - a charge that would most likely have been a "catch and release" on-scene report or immediately upon reaching the station.
Just so we're clear when the lawsuit is filed.

A smart retired captain once repeatedly told our watch that we are not bouncers. If a bar wants someone removed from their bar, they are going to jail. You get those complaints signed first, then go in and grab him. There will be no escorting unruly people out of bars and letting them go. Very smart words that I’ve always remembered and have saved my butt a few times. Good advice for younger coopers. Bar staff always “just want them to leave.” Nope, if u want me going into your bar and removing someone he is going to jail.
So?
Wait?
No one was in their underwear and wielding a hammer when the police arrived?
Liars are going to lie.
“Man charged in ‘random’ attack on alderman outside River North bar
Antonio Palazzi is accused of jumping Ald. Brendan Reilly outside Boss Bar, 420 N. Clark St., while the downtown alderman was waiting for friends inside to settle their tabs.

This looks like a developing crime pattern at the Boss Bar!!!!!!!
In all the years I shot pool I just don’t remember people taking their belts off. Is this a new game.
I just can’t get past the belt part of it. Is this a Juicy Smolett thing.

Brendan, time to get a membership.
The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart (PTAA) is an international organisation for Catholic teetotalers that is based in Ireland. Its members are commonly called Pioneers. While the PTAA does not advocate prohibition, it does require of its members complete abstinence from alcoholic drink. It also encourages devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an aid to resisting the temptation of alcohol. Pioneers wear a lapel pin called a Pioneer pin with an image of the Sacred Heart, both to advertise the organisation and to alert others not to offer them alcohol.

Crooked Politicians in action in at work.
Notice the security guard in the puffy jacket gets real close to the officer with the body cam running and whispers something unheard or unintelligible in the officer's ear twice?
Body worn cameras.
Beckoning a succinct and elegant performance.
Always remember, they are both the punch line and the set up to the punchline.
You are the referee, the conductor of the symphony of abusurdity, the observer of the innanities.
He is disgusting and has an alcohol problem. If he does not read HIS own complaint, does he not read city documents but just signs them? The MSM does not report this. The days of Walter Jacobson--long gone! I am not a LEO, (related to one), but I assume that BR made sure the cops knew he was an alderman. I don't know protocol--but I would address him Sir and not Alderman.
The belt less guy is looking for a good lawyer now. Riley and CPD about to be sued. All those secret handshakes will be played in court and plaintiff will be looking for 100k to Dr your spent in illegal confinement. City will settle for 50k per hour or a cool million. Nice job people.
Brendan was my aldercreature for a while. He's definitely in on the grift, at least from the restaurant association, but he also supports law and order. Too bad he rushed through the process and didn't make clear he and cop were on the same page. Anyway, there's too many pro-crime aldercreatures for me to worry about him.
Again, as with other numerous incidents in the past, the police are used as boogie monsters to satisfy a personal dilemma that could not have otherwise been resolved without the police being called and involved, later being used as scapegoats.
With all this attention now, can he use the “MAGA extreemasists are out to get me” excuse?
Well, sue the city,...they'll pay up...
just another day.
,
I’d be more interested to see if he actually paid for his drinks and meal and he didn’t violate the city’s ethics training.
The alderman will skate, cops will go down the drain. Would anyone be surprised?
This alderman is a real weenee.
No keeses for him.
HA! HA! HA!
I hope this offender sues the Alderman for false reports!
any insights on this report?

Similar situation a few years ago when lady aldercreature's phone was stolen. "No harm, no foul."
Sounds like we need to press filing a false report charges against the alderman or just turn the entire political landscape in Chicago Republican! This is due to their countless failures and incompetence as a political party.
Im sure "We" the taxpayers forked up for the tab as well..Just put it on my City Credit Card!!!
He should sue the lying drunken POS !
Another oxygen thief
Seems more evident that, during a game of 'pool', 'someone' tried a version of distract the shooter from sinking that triple bank shot.....
Naughty, naughty.....
Tho, it works....
Brenden Reilly is a scumbag

No harm no foul?!?!?! BS! that phone cost the city 100k in restitution to the Gypsy, and Gardiner’s ward superintendent was arrested by ATF shortly after for selling full auto AR platforms to an undercover agent. Allegedly.
His alcohol fueled euphoria is quite evident.
There was probably some extra cockicular activity proceeding the punch.
Hey, SCC - Speaking of city employees abusing the process, got any light on this? This is a black eye, brother. Doesn't make any of us in uniform look good.

Wow Boss bar! Over 30 years ago I worked in the old 018 and Boss was a copper regular. First time I walked in there working there were two Commanders and one chief sitting at the bar. Years after, coppers were constantly getting into trouble there. That place has cost a couple of careers over the years. It was mixing patrons with the Drag show place next door. It’s was always too popular for the bosses for me. If I wanted a beer after work I would go to Dugan’s and watch coppers duke it out there, and then to Ira’s for a couple, with “bench” bartending or if it really got late we’d be ringing the bell at “mikes”. Ahhh the olden days. I’m glad I survived.
Did they strip the alderman?
Put him on no pay status?
Make order him to blow to see if he’s intoxicated off duty??
Oh wait that only applies to police
