Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates got an undeserved property tax break on a house in South Bend, Indiana, and now she’s failed to meet the deadline for paying $1,533 in penalties and back taxes.
The union boss who earns at least $289,000 and admonishes the “wealthy” to pay their “fair share” is now in arrears to two local governments. Davis Gates failed to pay her Chicago water, sewer and trash bills for at least three years, racking up $5,579 in fees by November after defaulting on a payment plan in September.
Indiana revoked Davis Gates’ homestead exemption after it was revealed in early November by the Illinois Policy Institute. She was billed for the tax break plus a 10% penalty for a total of $1,533 that was due Dec. 8.
The St. Joseph County assessor’s office confirmed in an email they had not received a payment by the deadline. The amount owed will be rolled into Davis Gates’ property tax bill for next spring, pending approval from the state.
She failed to adhere to the payment plan for the water/sewer/trash bill.
Now she misses the deadline for the Indiana tax fraud.
With someone this incompetent at the helm, perhaps it's time for a forensic audit of the CTU books? Because incompetent in personal matters often spills over into business matters.

Why are her wages not garnished? Why is her water not shut off? Why is this not a federal case for not paying taxes? Hopefully the Internal Revenue Service does a complete audit on her taxes. This needs to be done. She obviously is a scumbag. OT: Another Chicago Police officer helpless and victimized on Friday night. This seems to be happening every week. It's met with shrugs by our local media (and our white-shirts) and mocking laughter by the police-hating public. I estimate that at least 30% of our fellow officers refuse to carry their handgun off-duty. If the story below doesn't change officers' minds (especially you females) than nothing will. I am writing this email to notify the members of our unit that yesterday we had two 3rd watch officers the victims of crimes yesterday. One incident was an attempt robbery, where a weapon was implied and the other was an aggravated assault near Jackson and Halsted in which an offender pointed a firearm at our officer. The attempt robbery occurred just outside of our lot on Polk Street. Luckily our officers were not injured. Please be careful when leaving on your breaks and lunches. This is the 3rd incident we have had in recent months. Let a co-worker know where you are going and try to go with someone if possible. Always be aware of your surroundings.
