Split Contract

Part of the Contract approved....part not:

  • So much for the détente between Mayor Brandon Johnson and the police union that has bolstered morale among rank-and-file Chicago Police Department officers.

It could be back to the constant bickering and legal wrangling between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police that dominated Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s single term.

A deeply divided City Council on Wednesday laid the groundwork for a return to those tumultuous days by rejecting an arbitrator’s ruling that would have allowed officers recommended for firings or suspensions over one year to bypass the Police Board in favor of an arbitrator who might be more sympathetic and would hold proceedings behind closed doors.

Next up:

  • Wednesday’s thumbs-down vote sends the ruling back to Benn, who has made it clear that he is not about to change his mind. If he again affirms his original ruling, the Council would vote again, followed by an FOP lawsuit that the union’s president, John Catanzara, has no doubt would succeed.

“It’s absolutely labor war at that point. … There will be a price to pay for putting his thumb on the scale to shoot this down,” Catanzara said of Johnson.

Get ready for another couple years of demoralization.

Too bad we cant have the city pay for our legal costs after we win. That's all this is, political show and sticking the FOP with a legal bill.

Who wrote this article? They saying Brandon Johnson has improved morale? Just like they believe Meritorious Snelling improved morale? All meritorious back has done is further lower morale by sending inspectors everywhere dinging coppers for missing a belt keeper.

That is all right Brandon’s new safety plan that came out yesterday he wants less patrolling wants more people involved in fighting crime. I don’t know where he’s getting $100 million from but he is saying Mr. Pinocchio that businesses are putting up $100 million to have more crime interrupters, and that kind of garbage.

Whenever the city goes against CPD on reasonable issues, there should be an immediate response from us. While we cannot strike, we still know what to do demonstrate our displeasure.

John would succeed the same way he’d succeed in suing the city for residency. BUT they’re paying him too much 💰to ever attempt!

We were given binding arbitration because we are not allowed to strike by state law, are we allowed to strike now?

Slow down people, this decision will slowly enter our already slowed down court system, they will slowly deliberate and slowly come to a decision. They will slowly try and circumvent state law and make a decision.

2. How many officers are they talking about
Hope the answers aren’t to shocking for the general population.

Aldreman Irving voted no arbitration? Funny how he amd his wife always asks to be escorted to and from their gate and to the front of the TSA line. there are other politicians who have more class and never ask for escorts or don't ask to be escorted to the front of the TSA line. Speaking of airports, how is it that the previous 3 commanders have been rehired as commissioners or to run security there? Does the commander position at the airport require you to be a airplane aficionado? I've seen the movie Airplane a bunch, does that count? I really would like a 100k job on top of 100k+ pension.

It’s a dead issue. Wasn’t even part of the talks. City doesn’t want police to move out of the city and the courts have upheld residency

And by the time it’s decided in court, Johnson will be long gone.
It seems that’s what our politicians continually do.

They simply violate the law with their policies, knowing that by the time things make their way through the court system they will be long gone and someone else will be holding the bag.
It’s sickening to watch the system work in this way.

I know, it’s tough to live in the city and all but since you live in your mom’s basement you don’t have it nearly as rough as most of us. Residency ain’t happening. Now, get back to your mom’s basement. She says no meat on Fridays so you’ll have to settle for fish sticks tonight!!

Better than split pants.

I knelt down to shine King John’s size 12 Dillard’s and it was blowout city. My Tighty Whities were on full display for all 3 of the 20 non-essential FLOP office employees present. Thankfully Mom had just Clorox’d the bacon strip out the day before.

True story.

I say no activity until we get what we are owed. But we know those selfish ones that need to go on e-learning or wear skinny jeans or like safe desk gigs and keep pens tiddy. We are our own worse enemy. We are not unified or in solidarity.

That's RIGHT!!!! Only a fool would work the DNC. I along with few others were dumped off our team as soon as the riots ended in the summer of 2020. 6 of us workers including our sergeant! We did what needed to be done activity wise and still dumped. Received a call while on furlo and told I was going to a district and which district I prefer to go to. GTFO! Everyone used like a condom. Never again. FU department and city.

Can't say I blame you. Why would any self-respecting copper work for and protect people (Democrat politicians and delegates) the despise you and believe you are expendable? There's definitely going to be a lot of IODs after the convention. There's a good chance the pro-Hamas faction is going to let loose with a car bomb near the United Center in August...or ANTIFA will gleefully get revenge for the DNC 1968. I hope you guys and gals like that fat OT check when you're missing your arms or have a permanent head injury.

How can they reject an arbitrator’s ruling? I thought the whole reason of arbitration is when there is an impasse so then an arbitrator makes the ruling on the issue. If either party doesn’t like the ruling they can’t just reject it.
