The illegals they're stashing at the airports got all the money that should have gone for new equipment for the police. Haven't you heard? Illegals matter. Public safety does not.

Police are low in priority. They've got more important things to spend that money on, taking care of illegal immigrants housed at the airport, for example.
Prior to my police career, I worked in nursing homes and we would have money that was designated to be for certain things: e.g. activities, social outings…usually from grants etc. it always ended up misappropriated and spent on other things to save the nursing homes spending money that would cut into their profits. I am not disillusioned that this happens all the time with money designated for specific things and either exhausted on over loaded administrative costs or other projects. Money designated for specific purposes should be audited very intensely. Instead, it usually lines the pockets of connected people or to fill budget holes elsewhere.

I worked at the airport. We always had the newest vehicles every couple of years. You got new cars, the best SUVs because it’s airport money paid for by the Airlines. Now they are driving vehicles that are worse than the vehicles in any other districts. Many of them should be junked long ago. then again you look at the leader ship of the airports this girl doesn’t know the difference between an airplane and a waterfall. She’s absolutely clueless and of course she serves Brandon 100% flew into O’Hare recently the airport truthfully inside the terminal is looks like shit not just with all the illegals they are dirty outside is dirty, it’s a disgrace, but then again no leader ship extremely poor management very unsanitary very unappealing! But they are dealing with a cost overruns billions and billions of dollars for new runways new terminals, whenever that is going to happen because everybody’s being paid off as usual the Chicago way

When I was there in '01 they had the best equipment because it was paid for out of the airport budget under federal requirements.

They don’t care about police cars they are shipped to the dealership were they get scrapped because they won’t repair cars with 170,000 miles on them this whole process takes 4-5 months to get a single car back. I had the privilege of getting a ride from the terminal before the Po from the academy ruined it for everyone and I can vouche for this post. The car i was picked up in was something out of a nightmare I felt like bugs were crawling on me. The glove box was hanging, windows covered in inches of muck, heat inoperative, huge holes in the floor. The entire outside was rusted, rims bent tires bald, no wipers, duct tape holding the dash in place, every warning light in the gauge cluster was on, seats wear so worn every time we turned you would slide right off the seat. I saw the odometer 215,000 miles. What a horrible example of CPD for visitors looks like a 3rd world country police department. I needed a shower after that drive.

My advice ? Blow whomever you have to blow to get an airport gig. Yes its true most have never been the Police, or at most did some short time in a place like 016. I worked with coppers, and I use the term loosely, who had no idea how to use the computers for case reports or how to even make an arrest. BUT! Their clout removed them from having to work the shit holes the rest of us worked and the odds of having to be the Police at the airports is very low.

Units 050 & 051 should be disbanded they are two useless clout heavy do nothing waist of money and manpower. I have been to both O’Hare and Midway on many business trips and can honestly say that I saw very few police officers in the terminals doing anything.
The airport doesn't need more than a couple of cars. Keep up a rapid response car or two, and let the rest walk a beat...maybe they will fit in their uniforms better then...

Hmmmm something doesn’t pass the smell test here. The airports equipment, station, supplies, ot and just about anything else is paid for by the Feds and the airlines. All of the airlines agree to pay into a joint fund for police and security at the airport. The department doesn’t pay a dime. I find it hard to believe the security fund doesn’t have money to buy cars. I happen to know there is a crazy amount of money in those funds. Don’t know about this one.. normally an “old” car at the airports have about 40k miles on them..
Area three Detective cars are even worst. I had one with no paint, had chip of paints here and there. I parked it a block away so no one would see me coming out of it. The thugs would crack jokes on the car. Damn why you can’t afford paint? Lol Don’t let me talk about the Nissans with no lights or sirens.

What is with "Sleepy G" at 050 converting one of the Explorers into a miniature "RV" for his personal use. It appears that "Sleepy G" has installed blackout curtains behind the drivers seats and, he then folds down the rear seats so he can install an inflateable mattress. He can be seen in the lot of the ORD Hilton, where he still avoids the $5 lunch deal.
Leave it to "Sleepy G" to make the most out of his 27 hour day.

Police aren't assigned based on where they live. You know that, but you just had to be angry about something, so that's what you went with? Cushy spots go to connected people, regardless of where in the city(or suburbs) they call home. If your best argument is "but he lives far away," get better at complaining.
Remember, not that long ago, the Cta is and was fully funded by the federal government when you worked at detail at least you had newer vehicles in good shape, but that is changed also due to having zero brain trust in charge of the police department in any aspect of it however the mayors detail they’ve got brand new vehicles tanks. We call them suburbans fully police equipped when you have that many soldiers a.k.a. Vallés you need the latest state of the yard vehicles electrification vehicles that have to be plugged in nope, not for them you need the ungreen big machines. They strive for 10 miles to the gallon. I assumed they were referring to someone in command of the police at O'Hare, since that's what everyone was talking about. I don't know or care enough about the police bosses at the airports to know who they were talking about. I just know they singled out O'Hare. I guess I'll answer their idiotic question, since you've decided to clarify their pointless point for me. O'Shea is in charge of the committee on aviation, as in both airports, one of which is on the south side. He's a member of the city council, not just a south side alderman who sits at his house. If we want to start questioning which alderman are assigned to which committees, the very last thing to worry about is aviation. Thanks for your helpful post to remind me that I need to read the minds of morons before commenting on their idiocy. I'll try to do better in the future. You said "airports" in your post, so it seems like you knew he was "in charge" of both airports. The commenter I replied to didn't seem to realize or understand that. I hope everything is cleared up for both of you now, you goof.

I'm sure I speak for a majority coppers that are pushing a beat car in the ghetto when I say I could care less about any complaint coming from any copper that works at O'Hare. Sorry, not sorry.

The clout (and very heavy) Sgt of the 7262 team got the former Sgt of the 7262 team dumped while the Sgt was on IOD! The 7262 team used to work and clear the terminals now they do nothing! A few PO's out there do ALL the work! LT is no where to be seen! It's sad to see as this used to be a great place to work.
They're catching up. The AMC is starting to work on some squads, and most been sent to Roesch Ford.
And that lone 07 Crown Vic that's still there, 97k miles and drives like a new car. Just crack the window when you run the heat or ac...has a hole in the floor lol
