Rumor Time!
Completely unsubstantiated rumors popping up here and there:
- Fifty sergeants upcoming, and that's it until a test in the fall.
We figure this one is about 50/50. There are about to be a lot of sergeant vacancies mixed into the projected 1,000 retirements this year. HQ also asked for approximately 130 names for the "merit" list, all of whom scored higher than Larritorious ever did. Also, given the Consent Decree guidelines, promotional exams will be given more regularly than old timers and retirees remember - something like every two-or-three years instead of once every eight-to-ten. (also, see calendar below)
- COPA about to unleash a wave of strippings
Unless this is the PPP fraud "investigations" wrapping up, we can't see shorting the Districts alongside a massive retirement wave, all before the DNC. What we can see is a whole bunch of cases being finalized with short suspensions, a warning not to grieve anything and a "let's never mention this again" in order to return as many officers as possible to the streets. We'll see.

This one is greatly amusing. Remember this calendar?
We didn't see any exempt moves on 12 Feb, but HQ will always fall back on the "dates subject to change" disclaimer they put on everything.
However, a little birdie e-mailed us that the exempt changes/promotions/demotions were delayed because downtown and City Hall didn't want the blog to look like they had an inside scoop. If you go back through our archives, we had written that we were told changes were scheduled for 10 February, which would have had them take effect on the 12th as posted in the calendar.
Sorry to burst their bubble, but we were just going by this calendar. So Larry, Conehead, Fred....you can pull the trigger on the moves.

To fred and Larry...both classess will be from current list in 2024 and will at least be a 100 if not 150 a piece which will leave the rank order at 381 or 451. Guys on the list dont jump off the bridge your ok! Anyone below 381 study for the next exam just in case and going forward plan to score above 400 to make it legitimately. Also why would the department have merit interviews of a 132 people to promote 15? You might as well continue off old merit list which had 48 to 66 people left on it.

I've heard the Sgt rumor more than once. That supposedly comes from inside sources at the academy and HQ. I have no skin in that game as I'm already a Sgt by test score a long time ago (I was in the high 100's). Should that rumor be true it's disgraceful!!!! Should they take this list down they won't make it to the top 300 scorers!! Why bother studying and having a test if you are going to take it down that fast? Everyone knows the top 100 scorers are filled with house mouses, individuals in special study groups, or just straight up cheaters who had the test or the answers. Those who score between 100 and 300 are most likely to be working street officers who should be humbled to get a promotion.
A few stats for everyone
The last list went over 600 (probably was higher) plus 30% merit in every class. That list should have come down. The department wasn't even full and your talking well over 800 Sgt's including merit from one test.
The list before that got to almost exactly 400. McCarthy was Superintendent for a chunk of that list and took less than 30% merit the majority of the time. Sometimes the class only had 10% merit. My class only had 20% merit. That list along with the detective list was up forever as no one was getting promoted thanks to Daley. Promotions started once he was gone.
The list before that got to just over 350 with 30% merit in every class. I know more than one person who scored between 350 and 400 who didn't get promoted and never scored that high again. They are pushing beat cars.

The real question is WHY????
The answer is Conehead doesn't like the demographics of the list. A certain male demographic who can't seem to ever score well on the test isn't represented at all up to 400. Therefore a new test must happen so that group can somehow score well.
That is the same group that needed more representation in merit so the Command Staff had to submit almost 200 new names hoping to find more diversity in the Supervisor ranks.

This is the guy who came from the Academy said he’s gonna put more police on the street the city hired about 100+ retired coppers to teach the constitutional policing which is paid for in federal dollars, but his boys and girls that worked at the Academy with him noticed this and decided they wanted these positions, so what happened they get rid of The retired guys who have a lot of experience and bringing all other little friends, more millennials, who are clueless on how to teach a class. As far as the strippings, whatever the war on police do to Democrats and a mayor who is clueless, and does not care about anything just gets on TV rambles on and blames everything on his family ! The same guy who took how many millions of dollars of tax money which is what it is from the Chicago teachers union which we fund got elected to office, in the same way the governor bought the governors office in the state of Illinois and now he’s in charge. Look at the way he stares at things look at the way he looks. He’s either crazy or heavily medicated, or both!
The city, the state, the county is so full of corruption, it is easy, but we have no investigative reporters that are not part and parcel to the democratic dictator, ship party, bent and destroying the country and everything in it.
Hope they make some good exempt changes!!! Get rid of some of these Commanders already!!!

Why are so many officers detailed to unit well over 90 days? Some have been detailed out for well over a year or two. Why do units have budgets but then they detail connected people in who are incompetent because of their looks, ethnic background, etc. etc. The streets are extremely short manpower, maybe look at the amount of officers detailed out

This list had a big COVID gap. Part one and two were about 18 months apart. None of the other tests listed had that. That’s why it won’t go down as far.

Taking the list down this early is completely unfair to those who studied hard and had the test on days 1 and 2. It’s obvious that majority of the people off the list took the test on days 4 and 5 when it was confirmed the same test for each day. Also, why did J Cat push so hard to keep the last list going in 2021 when the city came out and said they won’t promote off the old list anymore? Who did J Cat have to get promoted for him to have any skin in the game.

It's doubtful that the department will make 50 sergeants in march. 130 new merits and only 15 to be made? Most likely won't happen. CPD is currently almost 150 sergeants under budget and the consent decree is demanding CPD to promote to be in compliance.

I love how you assume everyone who scored better than you must have cheated or been in a special study group. There's no chance in your mind that anyone in that top 100 could've possibly legitimately done better than you? No one just studied enough or knew enough to get a better score than you? They had to cheat to beat you, right? Pretty full of yourself, aren't you? None of them were working street officers like you... just not possible. Get over yourself. If you were actually as smart as you think you are, you would realize that the top 100 scorers would have to include at least a few legit scores. But accepting that fact wouldn't allow you to pretend you were the special one who did it all legit and scored as high as possible without cheating.

Eddie Johnson's kid whose whole class didn't have to pass the POWER test because he couldn't? That Eddie Johnson's kid? He shouldn't be eligible for a promotion because he never passed the requirements for graduating from the academy in the first place.

Shutting down districts is always on the table. And once they shut them down, there's no going back. The slower districts get shut down first, so the safer parts of the city, which are already extremely understaffed, will get even less police coverage. The city believes its taxpayers and law-abiding citizens don't deserve police protection, because they're not black enough and don't commit enough crime.

No you are lying ass wipe the department is short almost a 150 sergeants and they have two lt. Classes coming as well as exempt promotions that will deplete the sergeant position not to mention may retirements. Stop trying to scare people. I know this department is dumb and sucks but why interview a 132 people for 15 spots? That make sense to you buddy? As far as the boss kids do a 9171 check bunch of old heads being forced out this year and next as well as lts. And the usual 100 + that leave for whatever reason they will get made in 2025. Even if these kids are waiting, there are other people that the department wants that are currently on this list. The new merit list has 132 nominees. They will not let this list go to waste.

You all do know that probably 95% of these people that say that they work downtown at 35th are just trolling. For example, the guy who reposted the calendar basically wrote it into the blog except that person added how many people he or she thinks it's going to get promoted lol. To the guy calling out members of the department who may be related to our bosses That's trash, they are still a part of us. How about trying to get to know them instead of ostracizing them? 2023 had a max of about 1315 sgts in the budget. Consent decree monitors forced to city to up it by another 100 for 2024 after the second sgt class was made last year because the city is still not in compliance for 10 to 1. Not only does the monitors want 10 to 1 but they want sgts in all sectors in the districts.
2024 now has max of about 1415 sgt for budget. As of today, CPD is short approximately 145 sgts from max budget. CPD then reopens merit nominations and bow we have a total of 132 new nominees for merit promotion.
It's highly doubtful that they will only make 30 from this new merit list and end it. CPD will make all tier 1 and 2 merits which means they will make at least half of the new merit list.
Now go backwards from the merit list and count 70% by rank. I can see another 140 made by rank this year.

OT: rumor is that the city is planning to acquire 18 new Bomb dogs. 14 airport/mass transit and 4 Citywide bomb dogs before the DNC. The spots have been never filled and the funding will expire. I’m sure the phone calls will be off the hook for these positions. The city will probably have another test before they fill the spots. Absolutely doesn’t surprise me if they pull that hat trick. Can anyone confirm before I push the retirement button

Cool story! He's humble and a good fto? Did he pass the POWER test? No. Did anyone else in his class pass it? No. Were exceptions made for any of us who aren't the superintendent's kid? No. I'm speaking facts, not trashing anyone. If you'd like to dispute those facts, please do so. The fact is he didn't meet the requirements to get the job, so they changed the requirements temporarily so he could get hired. If you think that's legit, I'd say you're the shitbird. Very fitting that you work in 006. Were you in his class or did you get hired after him? Clout babies get no respect from me, especially when they're too heavy to pass the test, and heavy enough to get requirements changed just for them. His entitlement even spread to other members of his class because of this bullshit. But you're a fan, so it's all good.

He didn't pass the POWER test. It was decided that he didn't need to, simply because he was the superintendent's kid. I don't care how many kidneys or livers or whatever he donated to his daddy. If he can't meet the requirements of the job, he shouldn't get the job. There's no organ donor exception to the POWER test. Maybe if his dad wasn't an overweight alcoholic with self-inflicted diabetes, he wouldn't need a kidney transplant. And maybe then he wouldn't have been caught passed out behind the wheel of his department vehicle after driving drunk with his fuck buddy. But let's pretend nepotism and favors for the connected are good things because they're "good guys" and whatever other bullshit you need to tell yourself. If you can't pass the relatively easy physical test to become a police officer, due to "diminished strength or endurance," well shit, maybe you don't need to be the police no matter who your daddy is or how many kidneys you have left. Saying others miraculously passed the test doesn't help your argument. They should never have been hired either if they didn't meet the requirements. Citing more examples of corruption doesn't legitimize other cases of corruption. It just shows that it's a bigger problem than the one case I mentioned.

Humble as hell you say? Damn right as he should be. He knows everyone knows the rules were bent, hell, suspended for him- THE (then) SUPERNINTENDOS S0N. So yeah, a lot of humility and self proving should be going on.
Embarrassed to say that I barely passed the “Chicago power test” as they called it back then in the academy. I couldn’t pass it and they made us come in a hour extra every day to run on the treadmill and work out. I wasn’t even that heavy just couldn’t pass the run. I came in early with all the other overweight cadets in my class that couldn’t pass it. In the end we pushed and we all passed it. It stings that I was told by the instructors that I will fail out if I don’t pass and this kid gets a free pass. I can’t wait to see which exempt puts him up for merit as a last favor to his dad.

There is so much cheating on this dept nothing is untouched or legit. Even a legit top score is tainted by just being associated with the testing process. But its biggest defenders are always the biggest cheaters. Have some decency and stop gaslighting people.
This isn’t the first time someone needed helping “passing’ the power test, or their range qual, or the state test etc. this shit has been going on forever. I remember when we had the wall you had to make it over, there was always people who couldn’t make it but somehow did in private, same with range and state test etc. get over it and move on. Nothing in this city is legit in any manner.
There are currently numerous supervisors and exempts that have been to multiple command schools when they’re only supposed to get one, while others keep applying and never get to go to one. It’s always the same people too. I wonder how that happens?? Must be a crazy coincidence or these people are so special they must send them to them all. They’re usually all merits too…

Now just taking the test means you cheated? Any high score is trained simply because it's a score on the test? Are you legitimately retarded? I must be the only clout baby who got stuck on midnights in shithole districts. I probably should've used my phone call to get some cushy inside spot. Your inability to get a higher score doesn't magically make everyone else's score illegitimate. You honestly think there's no one who could legitimately score better than you on the test? Does this apply to everything you do? How far does your narcissism go? Did you even get promoted or did the system conspire against you so they could promote the clout babies? If you're as smart as you pretend to be, surely you could just learn what's in the orders and score well on the test. Did someone distract you while you were taking the test? Did they switch your perfect test with a clout baby's test so he could get your perfect score? If your score was the only legit one, what about the person just above you or just below you? They scored either exactly the same as you or a fraction of a point away. But only your score was legit? Explain your "thinking" on any of this. Forget the conspiracies and excuses, actor that there is actual cheating and phone calls, and also accept that some people do make it legitimately. If you can't accept that, you're just jealous and incapable of getting yourself promoted. It's everyone else's fault and the system is rigged against you and only you.

Learn to read, dumbass. I acknowledged and agreed several times that there is obvious cheating on the test. This moron thinks he's the only one who didn't cheat, or have a special study group, or a phone call, or some other special treatment. Literally everyone but this one person did not achieve a legitimate score. Only this one person, who still has not been promoted, scored "well" on their own. Anyone with a single atom of functioning brain matter would know that's absolutely ridiculous and delusional. As for me needing to get some time on the job, I've been happily retired for a few years while you're out hunting blue cards for your cheating bosses, kid. Get your reading comprehension skills fixed, and maybe dial in your common sense a little better too. Or just try to follow along better before commenting.
