He/she gets a big percentage to put his desired folks in, and the remaining are to be made based off other factors (ie race, gender and in rare cases: ability) or to appease other powerful folks like being related to a senator or a congressman or something like that
As for the Area D/C’s, there hasn’t been a decision yet as to whether or not they’re ALL going to be shuffled around.

When I look at that list of names the one thing that is apparent is that this department not only loves , but embraces incompetency. That list is what you might see in a department like Harvey or Robbins or even Ford Heights. You know places with high crime and corruption and no one in power cares about either.

I hope they clean house in Area 4 . I was up there the other day helping out on a case when I had the pleasure to observe Lisa Starks in action. I do not understand how she could be a commander in the D unit. She has absolutely no clue what she is doing . I hope Larry replaces her . The Detectives of Area 4 deserve better . Merit after merit promotion , actually has her to believe she deserves all those promotions. Right the ship Larry , dump Lisa . This woman has no business being a commander in a detective division . Didn’t she cheat on the Lt. Test anyway ???? Given … Not Earned !

The detectives deserve better? When all the investigations are going on with all the crime, don’t worry about it. It’s reported to the news media that detectives are investigating. Now I’m gonna go home for the early duck as usual. I will stay a little bit for overtime going to set up the Netflix on the TV Passed me their coffee people go get me some of that McDonald’s. I’m hungry now get out there in the beat car do your job. Why do you think the city went out at leased Nissan Sentra’s crappy cars like that with no equipment so no one would know they were detectives like nobody knows anyway because these vehicles can be used for the coffee runs. Cleared cases how many are actually clear?

I am well aware of that. There was also assistant deputy superintendent as well as a couple of other ranks that were eliminated under the jerk McCarthy. So what I am asking is, since for over 10 years there has not been a rank of deputy superintendent where does this fit into the CURRENT rank structure and why create a spot for her?

Page 1 Sunday Chicago Tribune 3 column foto above the fold - Jerome shaking hands with the President of the United States. Huge. hein was back home shaking hands with his pud. For a brief moment Jerome brought a bit of pride to this media mocked city and PD. The real question is why would u put in place someone nobody wants to work for opposed to someone everybody wants to work for ? Brutal.

DS is HEAVY.
Whoever gonna get the reign of the 009 Daisies will have to navigate the complicated political structure of 009. I doubt it will be JV. I don't think he will want to deal with that headache. Betancourt has been the commander of 010 for almost 3 years now I have never seen him on the street!! He is scared of his own Shawdow and has lost the district and doesn’t deserve to get promoted!!! 010 is not 014!!!

Smith was in the 290's or 300's on the list for lieutenant. Everyone that was above 160 on the list is basically merit. They never make lieutenant's above 125 ish. So stop with your nonsense
They went into the 300s on that list he was promoted on. Like him or not he made every rank on his own so stop with your nonsense and pay attention because those lists stayed up a long time. I’d much rather see someone like him get made than most of the merit jag offs that think they really earned it. (Well, maybe the bj broads earned it …)

I am a recruiter for laterals as well, we DO NOT hire CPD Officers, they can barely read much like their bosses
Hey Recruiter, why are you on our blog? Business must be slow? Side note: Most of our former bosses are the Chiefs of the departments you recruit far. Upon retirement, CPD personnel usually takeover other departments, more so than making lateral moves to join them as a new recruits.
The 10th District is going to be crying for Mighty Mouse back when the new commander gets here. Best known for crying at her last high stress position at News Affairs and abusing the medical while a sergeant in the same district. Laugh now, cry later ese.
Anyone talking crap about Bruno clearly doesn't know him. Guess it's bad to come from a classy, good family. I can think of a lot managers in the rank of lieutenant and above that I would not want to work for before even getting to a leader like KB.
Never promoted by merit....[I know that means he got the answers to the test]. Must have gotten answers to tests given in law school too.
No pleasing anyone at cpd. Merit = bad. Making rank off test score = cheating.
Since I don't work there any more, I hope you get someone other than KB as your chief of detectives. Maybe someone like the cdr of ANY of the areas currently. Maybe you'll get Dalia bulnes! Good luck!
