A gathering of brainiacs to fix Chicago:
- Chicago's Loop was the center of attention Thursday morning. Leaders announced a committee to revitalize the downtown area, including State Street.
That includes making people feel safe, getting more businesses in vacant buildings and adding more amenities and dining.
It's all a part of the Chicago Loop Alliance's strategic five-year plan, which was shared during the group's annual meeting Thursday.
Where have we heard "five-year plan" before? Oh yeah, the USSR always had a five year plan, right before they executed all the dissidents and headed into another famine starving hundreds of thousands of their own citizens.
We guess the Chicago commies noticed this other report:
- State Street is a cultural anchor, a shopping destination, and an important part of Chicago's history.
[...] But right now, State Street has seen better days. The storefront vacancy rate on the Loop stretch of State Street is higher than ever before – as the downtown area tries to make a post-COVID comeback.
"Fifty percent of the storefronts on the east side of State Street are vacant," said John Vance, principal at Stone Real Estate. "There is a palpable; a visible vacancy on State Street."
You know what might be a great start?

But, but, the Pritzger Park is on State Street! It provides a nice gathering place for our new neighbors from Venezuela to soak up some sun! Even before that, it was a hub for self-starting micro-entrepreneurs to share their various agricultural/self-care products!
The days of Frango Mints, window shopping at Marshall Fields, ice rink on state, preacher man on the corner by Old Navy and The Hi Guy are gone long gone that Chicago is gone and never coming back.
The Chicago we once knew is nothing but a memory majority of Chicagoans will never know about.

The Dems may be able to pull off a “Potemkin Village” in the Loop and Mag Mile for the DNC. Gavin Newsome did it in San Francisco just last Nov for the US & China Summit. He disappeared all the homeless and their tent cities and cleaned all the feces off the streets and when it ended it returned to $hit.
When Richie Daley went to dedications the city workers would go before him and clean it up. He went to a function at a grade school and they paved an entire block the morning before he came. They were even cutting homeowners over grown grass across from the school in case he looked that way.
George Bush visited a school after we had a snowstorm. The morning before he got there they had trucks with heavy steam hoses and they melted all the snow where the motorcade parked on the block. None of the dignitaries had to walk in any snow.
They will be able to transform downtown and may even open some fake stores in the vacant ones. And Christy Weber will transform the area with palm trees and tropical flowers and you will think you are in the tropics. It will be great for one week only.

Their plan is to place 150 Officers (the same as Mayor Moron’s security force) to protect one single block of State Street. All high end Michigan Avenue stores and the low-brow Taste of Chicago will be moved to this one secured block.

State Street is terrible Michigan Avenue even the former phenomenal N. Have to clean up the city, in this case SF, when the owner (Xi) of the property pays a visit.

One major problem with City and shoppers / visitors is trust and the perception of safety.
Before someone comes to Chicago / Downtown for shopping, they have to both be safe, and believe that then will be safe.
It will take years of the City being safe before it will become a common belief that Chicago is safe.
