Making up for last weekend's shortfall?
- Four people were shot Sunday afternoon on the city's West Side.
The shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. in the 400 block of North Lavergne Avenue, Chicago police said.
- Five people were shot, one fatally, on the city's West Side early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. at the 5300-block of West Madison Street near Lockwood Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood.
All told, HeyJackass.com had the tally at 8 dead and 27 maimed.
No word on how many rose from the dead for Easter.
And it wasn't just local either:
- Seven juveniles, including a 12-year-old, were injured when gunfire erupted outside a mall in downtown Indianapolis late Saturday night, authorities said -- the third consecutive weekend city police have responded to a mass shooting.
- Authorities in Nashville, Tennessee, have asked for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of a shooting during Easter brunch. One man was killed and several others were hurt non-critically in Sunday's shooting, authorities said.

I always take these inner city shootings with a grain of salt. I know some innocents get caught up in the gunfire and I feel for them, but I also know the vast majority of the "victims" are probably gangbangers on the wrong end of some street war that they were equally guilty of waging.

Well, we all know why. So he can text the supe on the side to let him know 5 minutes before cpic. Guess what chief…. I’m not sending out a thing before cpic does. I make my notifications as ordered, youre micromanaging doesn’t count. Bird shot in the calf on the Westside??? DONT CARE!!!! I’m not lifting a finger to make sure you know 5 minutes ahead… I also don’t care if my merit commander gets bent out of shape because you pressure the commander. Stop being a micromanager and there is ZERO you can do to me. I’m glad to have retired early just a few short years ago and collecting a nice monthly pension check. I Relocated to a nice quiet place, while working a nice job that is paying me over $100,000 yearly with benefits. As long as you continue to be preoccupied with race, just continue to pay into the pension so this former officer can live WELL ;)

The city's murders and maiming's are ALL on the Democrats for the last 50-60 years. Black murders and shooting victims will continue unabated, unless you stop voting for these Democratic bums that allow this murderous lifestyle to continue in your neighborhoods. Annually, you are looking at hundreds of people being murdered and shootings in the thousands.
Frankly, most people are not impressed by the community's response to these historic and senseless murders and woundings, other than celebratory candles, balloons and high school photos of the deceased. By your community's own political actions (mindlessly voting Democratic), one can make an argument that you are a participant in these acts of violence.

You are correct, he was like this as a Cmdr and it drove him crazy when his Lts wouldn’t notify him immediately. This barely scratches the surface of why nobody likes him…

You don't get in those units unless you have one hell of a phone call and I don't care what "test" or application "process" they make you take. Face reality. Very true for the most part. There are some that get made rank order (myself included) but you’ll have to wait til those given test content by the SME’s (AKA “trainers”), those given the secret phrase/answer to drop at the oral interview and the phone calls get theirs first. Oh… you’ll also have to wait until the FOP makes backroom deals with the city to promote some people who never took the test. These are the sad facts. Now just wait your turn if you made the eligibility lists and hope they don’t tear them down and have another test before they get to you.

It's still not a promotion, and they still won't make more just because you're "short." The department believes it has enough. I made it so far out of patrol that I'm retired, sport. You keep answering those requests for a money sniff though, since that's 90% of your special phone call job. Keep looking down on patrol, too. They're doing police work while you play with your puppy.

Who mentioned anything about race? Oh that's right, YOU DID. All that was asked was for a description of the Juvies... wondering what it could be since none was given is a proper thing for any reasonable person. "Gee, should I be afraid of ALL the kids on the block, even the 9 yr olds? How much do they weigh? What were they wearing? Riding bikes? What kind?" and so on...
It helps people to keep an eye out so they can alert the coppers if they happen to see the POS running around the neighborhood.
If the vast majority of them turn out to be of a particular race for all the crimes committed in a neighborhood, well then that just tells me that there's a disproportionate amount of crime committed by members of that race, and we need to start investigating further. How many are repeat offenders? First timers? What are the crimes being committed? Because the repeats need to be in jail - if they're not, I want to look at those details and find out why they weren't prosecuted better and call out the prosecutors for doing a shit job. If certain crimes are being committed more than others, I want to know what those are so I can enhance the penalties and hopefully stave off other brain trust members from doing the same.
But unless and until that starts happening - expect more of the unknown, no-description ghost people to pillage the neighborhood with impunity...

Show me where it's called a promotional list. A promotion is to a higher rank. FTO, evidence tech, detective, k9, marine unit, horsey police, etc. are not promotions. They can come with an increase in pay, a new uniform, cute boots, a nice little patch, but they're not promotions. Even if someone were to call it a promotional list like you say, it wouldn't make it a promotion. It doesn't matter how much room there is for more handlers if beat cars aren't being manned across the city. Summer is coming up, and the DNC. You think they're pulling P.O.s to K9 to increase the already significant manpower issues? I'll make a deal with you: if they make a dozen or even 10 canine handlers in the next 3 months, I'll pay you $1000. If they make 5, I'll give you $500. I don't think they'll make a dozen in even a dozen years. They might make 2 or 3 in the next few years. If you'd like to see the major flaw in your thinking, take a look at how many P.O.s the department should have, and detectives, and FTOs, and sergeants, and lieutenants. They're short on all of those, by a lot. Are they filling all those spots? You can't fill openings without manpower. Retired and commenting on the blog is just one of many things I can do with my endless free time in retirement. Good luck getting your dog "promotion."

Oh sorry. I didn't know "Anonymous" was all you. As for your insistence that it's a promotion, it's not considered one on this job. It's cute that you want it to be, since you told everyone you got promoted. It's never been called a "promotion" and your name was never on a "promotional list." You're grasping at straws to win some semantics argument just to make yourself feel better. Show us the list that says anything about promotion. Show us anything related to being assigned to canine being referred to as a promotion. It must be written somewhere.

Well, there it is. But it's still just semantics. Weird that they separated it like that. "Appointed as" positions shouldn't have their own category if they're promotions like all the others. Take a poll of your fellow canine handlers during all your free time. See how many agree that you got a promotion. Tell other officers who didn't have your juice about your promotion to canine. See if they agree you got a promotion. They won't. Maybe you can take the sergeant's test to get an actual promotion. I'm sure your juice will help you there. That's the saddest part of this whole discussion. You bragged about getting your "promotion" due to your juice, rather than your ability. You guys really have no shame.
