CTU Extortion

While the head of the teacher's union tickles Conehead's prostate, get another look at what she's demanding:

  • The teachers union is demanding nine percent cost of living adjustments every year.

According to Indeed, the average salary of a teacher in Chicago Public Schools is $67,718. With raises every year for four years, teachers would be getting paid about $95,000 a year by 2028, which is roughly 36 percent higher than the national average.

The $50 billion demand comes despite the fact that Chicago Public Schools spends more than $21,000 per student, far above the national average of $14,347, per the Census Bureau.

And even with the extra $7,000 that Chicago lavishes on its students, the cost doesn't appear to lead to better academic results.

It's far past time to break the CTU.

Ban strikes - they keep telling us they're "essential," If they're that essential, like cops and firefighters, then they're too essential to strike - and tie raises into results.

Some smartass is going to chime in with "Then tie the police raises into results." That's fine with us, because all we've been hearing for years now is, "Crime is down!" and we still can't get correctly paid or paid on time.

The CTU will get every last dollar of that money and probably more. The dumbass electorate of Chicago will see massive tax increases and cuts to other services to pay for it too. Hell, BJ will probably pose with the union president with one of those oversized checks they have for lottery winners.

The voters will piss and whine, for a little while, then rush to the polls to vote straight ticket Democrat yet again this fall.

Teachers bought the 5th floor.

Hold on.

Old man Daley always cared about taxpayers first.

Da mayor cares about teachers.

It's not just cpd and cfd that can't strike. I worked for 2 major depts a d we all had no strike agreements and just had to wait months or years for negotiations which were usually tied to some election. We must have police and fire, water and sewer etc. Teachers , not so much. These overpaid whiney mostly illiterate baby sitters were mia for 2 years and nobody cared. Fuck em, go 100% zoom from another country like they do with customer service and put all the teachers on welfare where most of them came from in the first place. I doubt they could be much dumber if the kids never went to school than they are after 12 years of part time communist group therapy. Be gone ctu

To tie/connect police pay raises to results would depend upon what results.

As in, what results of law enforcement actions would be tied to raises in pay?

The commonest of common sense would say, violent crimes trump all.

Violent crimes pursued = Big pay raises.

Apply the same to the prosecutions.

Hell, apply the same to the adjudications.

Were the same to be applied to the politicians, they'd be in debt for decades.

Also if the CTU claims there ā€œessentialā€ then I have to assume they go to work everyday. Us essentials donā€™t work from home.

Typical of the teachers clan, to want to have their cske and eat it too.

Their solution: a never ending resupply of cake!

Their source of said resupply: us property tax payers.

This ctu/cps is the hoggiest hogfest of grifters.

With tbe stamp of approval from the democrat grifting machine.

Such a collection of thieves, rascals and pompous assholes has been made possible by our innate natures of giving the benefit of the doubt and looking on the bright sides of these things.

Said doubt has vanished and said bright sides have been blotted out by the mud storms of greed, most rapacious and ridiculus.

Mighty nice wish list for the teachers who are not only overpaid but have decided their contracts should include social justice stipulations. These teachers can only get up to 21% of the kids to meet the required standards. Chicago spends $21,000 on each child, more than $7,000 over the national average, and we are still behind in almost every academic area. These teachers are getting paid too much to do nothing. LOOK in the mirror and tell me who has the power to make a change; if you stay silent, you are complicit to the nonsense dished out by CTU. Don't fall for it, even the President of CTU has no confidence in CPS and sends her kid to a private school

How about make them pay their fair share into their pension?
At the very least 10% or 15%. Heard they only pay 3%.

"Heard they only pay 3%."

CPS teachers and counselors throw in only 2% of their own pension contribution if hired before 2015. All others after that pay the full 9% but were given higher starting salaries to offset not getting the 7% covered by CPS aka taxpayers.

Teachers hired before 2015 can have $7000 put into their pensions each year while they only put in $2000

If these teachers hired before 2015 work 34.5 yrs, they only contribute $70,000 into their own pensions. They get their contributions back in their first year of retirement, everything else is gravy.

They are just going through the motions of negotiations. They have already decided on seven percent raises. But this way, Conehead can say he talked them down from nine percent.

Don't forget. We were disposable during the pandemic. They thought it was more deadly and sent us out there while others were paid to stay home. Who was to watch our kids when the schools closed or at the time CTU refused to work. Apparently they are not that essential. If not a pandemic then it's a strike. What new tool were they forced to learn and wear. Maybe there should be cameras in the classroom. Cameras for all!

If anyone wants the police to get paid based on results, give them the power to actually make those results happen. Once the police do their job, the rest of the system works to dismantle and undermine that work in order to set criminals free to offend again.

Looking for the golden goose ???. The Illinois Policy Institute is reporting that since 2018, the CTU has been paying millions for legal services to the mother of CTU Vice President Jackson Potter. The CTU has steered two huge lawsuits to Robin Potter worth upwards of 9.25 million, out of which her law firm received 4 million in fees. The CTU has also failed to provide a required annual audit to it's membership since 2019.

They sent us out there because they knew the ā€œplandemicā€ was bullshit. They implemented those measures because they wanted to rob us of our liberties and steal an election.

You hit the nail on the head. I knew a HS teacher, transferred from a west side holding cell of a school to Northside Prep. He had one kid who probably didnā€™t deserve to be there (but equity) in his class who was failing. He offered solutions ,but the kid refused to work on any. That teacher was in no uncertain terms told: ā€œyou canā€™t fail him.ā€ That was over 12 years ago. I canā€™t imagine how much worse itā€™s gotten.
