CWB Files Appeal

CWB blog has appealed the FOIA request for Flossmoor PD documentation. Flossmoor unilaterally disobeyed existing law to assist Crimesha in the cover-up:

• The city of Flossmoor appears to be circling the wagons to keep the public from seeing records related to the alleged battery of one of their town’s most famous residents, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

  After Foxx accused another Flossmoor resident, William Swetz, of reversing his car toward her and dousing her with a Big Gulp of root beer, CWBChicago filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the Flossmoor PD reports documenting the incident.

  The Illinois FOIA law gives public bodies five business days to provide responsive materials, but it also allows them to extend the deadline by an additional five days if they need more time due to certain circumstances.

  Flossmoor PD FOIA Officer Megan Ivers responded on Friday morning, the fifth business day after we filed our request. In her letter, she cited the law that allows them to extend the deadline by five days.

  In the very next sentence, though, Ivers said the city would respond to our request not within five additional business days, but within 30 additional business days. [...] In response, we asked Flossmoor officials to cite the state law giving them the authority to grant themselves a 30-day extension, particularly since they cited the law that gives them only five.

  We also informed Flossmoor’s people that if they did not provide a legal basis for its extension to August 12 by noon on Friday, we’d take the matter to the state attorney general’s office.

Of course, one can't expect the Cook County Machine to turn on one of Prickwrinkle's own. This is essentially a Simple Battery by all of Crimesha's interpretations of the Law....except when she's the "victim" of it.
