Where's Summer Mobile?
- A teen was among two people injured in a stabbing and shooting near 31st Street Beach Saturday night, according to Chicago police. The shooting happened around 11:34 p.m. in the 3000-block of South Fort Dearborn Drive, police said.
A 26-year-old woman was arguing with a 17-year-old girl, Chicago police said. During the altercation, the 26-year-old allegedly stabbed the teen in the arm and then the teen shot the woman in the shoulder. Both the woman and the girl were taken to hospitals and were expected to be okay.
No charges have been filed. CPD Area One detectives continue to investigate.
The shooting and stabbing happened after police planned to crackdown on crime near 31st Street Beach after four people were shot and killed there earlier this month.
The aldercreature promised more enforcement and Hein cancelled everyone's days off, but did anyone get assigned to the 31st Street war zone?
UPDATE: Seems the initial report was incorrect - female teen stabbed the woman who then shot the teen:
A woman possessing a valid concealed-carry license shot a teenage girl who stabbed her late Saturday night near Chicago's 31st Street Beach, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 11:34 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Fort Dearborn Drive. According to police, a 17-year-old girl and a 26-year-old woman got into an argument when the teen stabbed the woman in her right arm with a sharp object.
The 26-year-old, who possesses a concealed-carry license and Firearms Owners Identification Card, produced a gun and fired shots, striking the teenager in the left shoulder, police stated.
Sounds like a good shooting, too.

I think it was actually the other way around and the teen stabbed the woman and the woman was a CCW holder with valid FOID. Justified. But... Aren't guns supposed to be banned at any Chicago Park District property per ILCS?

I know we’re good at calling out the bullshit of this department but we gotta give credit where credit is due. We just finished up pride fest and this was by far the best it’s been handled in the last 12 years I’ve been working. Cruz, O’Conner, McCrudden, and the Lt and Hispanic sgt (don’t recall his name) absolutely did an amazing job. I guess all the FFO training paid off. Officers had shields up once the bottles started flying. Everyone stayed in formation, arrest teams were quick, hell even the gold stars were dragging these clowns back to the arrest line. Nicely done tonight.
Beach should be closed forever. Terrible beach, always trashed, people drive their cars up on the sand and shit everywhere. But who’s going for enforce the closing? Would need 12-20 cops to effectively close the very Long Beach, from 26th street to 35th street long.
The only thing this city has going for it is the beaches. I say shut them all down. Let the citizens know if they can't behave themselves they get no access. Make it a pay for access, 30 bucks for the day, fill some budget holes.
If you go anywhere near any beach inn this city after dark you are nuts. It doesn’t matter where these animals are, the results are always the same.

I live near the lake and walk almost every day there. Yes I carry every time. This is by far one of the worst years I’ve seen for not seeing any Police, or bike units or anything down on the lakefront. And I walk museum campus , all the way to Nay pier and beyond, at all different hours. I have barely seen any Police.

Word is two of the Lt from BOD headquarters are on the hot seat about gloating they don’t go to the details they are assigned to and openly defy and bash their bosses. Their emails are going around.
31st Street beach and parking area has been a out of control, violent shit hole for decades. There is no way to effectively police it. The city must find a way to shut this down and the only way I can think of is to close the parking lot and turn the entire area into a park.
Close every parking lot at every beach. The wilding have run havoc over the beaches for far too long from the drinking, cars on the grass, bike paths and beaches. Oh but “they” need some safe place to act like animals.

Civilian here, FOID holder here since age 18 (decades now). Never bothered to get a CCL when the law finally passed for exactly this reason - all places where I would actually want to utilize conceal carry are explicitly forbidden under the Illinois law:
-Commuting back & forth to work across 011, maybe stopping at a supermarket in 010 on the way home?
*No gun allowed at workplace or the grocery.
-Taking a formerly chill CTA train line which since 2020 has been packed with psychos, just to see a movie in the Loop without paying $50+ for parking?
*No gun allowed on CTA or in the movie theater. [Guess who loses my ticket money?]
-Parking my car at home after work, taking a sketchy CTA bus line on a 3-mile straight shot to meet old friends for Friday Happy Hour, to be A Responsible Citizen & not DUI?
*No gun allowed on CTA again, or in a tavern.
-Circling Bucktown - where as we know robberies/carjackings are up 162% since 2020 [per CWB] - searching for a rare parking spot, perhaps blocks from the wife's favorite Date Night restaurant?
*No gun allowed in the restaurant, thanks to Beretta sticker on the door.
So basically the only time, as A Law Abiding Citizen, I could ever really use my CCL would be walking the dog around the block, consciously avoiding the many schools & parks in my neighborhood, or - may the gods forbid {we're open minded here} - confronting some asshole harassing my wife while she gardens in the Parkway, which Crimesha might consider to be off of my property and therefore beyond the bounds of simple FOID usage.
