Florida Craziness
This is in Florida, a purportedly red state:
- A Florida police union leader blasted prosecutors Monday for bringing a criminal case against four officers
over a 2019 shootout with two robbers that left a UPS driver and a
passerby dead, saying they had no choice but to return fire on the busy
suburban street.
Steadman Stahl, president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, said that by bringing the case, Broward County prosecutors are sending the message that officers could face charges if they fire at shooters while hostages or other innocent people are nearby. That “could have a chilling effect” on how they respond, he said.
“Those officers didn’t pick that location to have that shootout in. It’s the bad guys,” Stahl said after a hearing where the officers’ trial was scheduled to begin Feb. 17. “Unfortunately, two (innocent) people lost their lives out there. Our hearts go out to them. Nobody wanted that to happen.”
The SFPBA president is correct - the cops didn't choose where the shootout would happen. And, like it or not, civil litigation would have been a given in any jurisdiction in the nation. But criminal charges? There seems to be a lack of intent for starters.
And reading further into the article, the prosecutor is the same one who charged and tried the Broward County deputy for NOT pursuing the shooter in the Parkland shooting. Now he's charging officers for actually pursuing?
Any bets on whether Crimesha wanted to institute this here, but just never had an opportunity?

Yeah, you said it right there in the article. Broward County. A blue boil on the ass of an otherwise great state. Just as blue states like Illinois have red jurisdictions, the opposite is true. Methinks the state AG will straighten this shit out.
Have you seen any of the videos of that shootout? Yeah, the bad guys were bad, but did the cops have to use an SUV with a family in it for cover? Also, 4 indicted out of 30+ participating and 18 who fired shots. It's not a screw-job, there is something to look into deeper here.

Florida is red but that country is blue.
It is where politicians have no understanding that criminals are the ones at fault. When will there be an Accountability for what criminals do. Why aren’t they at fault for the whole incident. It’s a chain reaction that they started. The criminals should be held responsible.
A lot of coppers believe Red States are pro police. No, they are not. I'm from South Carolina and I can recall numerous times where police officers were fired in 1-2 weeks and charged for misconduct or excessive force.
The public sentiment wants police officers held accountable for their actions. Conservatives support police officers who OBEY THE LAW.

Like Travis County (in Texas), Broward County (in Florida) is an island of Blue insanity in an otherwise reasonable, red state.
Broward County is filled with clueless liberal New York transplants/retirees who believe anything written in the NYT, and think that voting Democrat in 2024 is the equivalent of voting for Roosevelt in 1940.

Broward County is the cancer in an otherwise healthy State of Florida. As for the citizens of Broward County, you voted for your Chief Prosecutor, and you got what you deserve. For the LEO's involved, we know on a daily basis our split-second decisions in life and death situations not only involve our prudent tactical actions and survivability, but now includes the Broward County Kangaroo Prosecutor's Office. The citizens of Broward County own this mess.
There has to be a lot more to this story than this. Before police start cranking off rounds they have to be conscious of the background. Especially as most rounds fired by police in high stress situations miss the intended target.
Were the bystanders killed by police bullets or offenders bullets? Usually the offender are held accountable for all injuries that occur during their crimes.
Police are now living in the age of accountability. The days of the heart was in the right place benefit of the doubt are long gone.
Using a civilian occupied personal vehicle as cover is inexcusable, needlessly putting the public at risk.

These officers should face civil lawsuits for damages- not criminal charges. Was there a wanton and willful disregard for the public? Maybe. But a civil jury should decide.

Amen brother. It's this kind of stupid shit that gets the public hating on police. I get that obviously the assholes started this gunfight & should be hanged, but don't hide behind some fucking innocent family's car to battle it out.
What I find most annoying about our media is the complete lack of researching both sides of an argument, especially in the realm of law. Ie the Reed case. Ok. We have the family side & their attorneys, but with the officers civil defense - it's an attack or viewed as the anti. A real coverage would explain to the reader that these officers have legal defense based upon case law. Also, a freedom to defend themselves in court against accusations using evidence & reasoning. BUT no such defense is allowed in this town, let alone establishing a foundation of the opposite view. They don't even mention he shot first.
Did Homeland Security put out bulletin that Treda de Aragua green lighted the shooting of LEO's. If so, and I hope that is not the case, there will be more pain and suffering for all concerned. Beware of "false flag calls", ambushes and other ploys. Be smart, use good tactics, protect yourself and your partner. If it doesn't feel right, fork it, call for back up and wait. Remember once you decide to go in, more than likely you are on your own and all actions taken will come under the scrutiny of the sham COPA and Kangaroo Courts.

We looked at Florida its rapidly changing and if you can get home car insurance it has skyrocketed to the stratosphere, plus the insane humidity, taxes hoa fees ( which the new state requirements doubled and quadruple many). So much for sale now in Florida, just not worth it anymore. It sucks here read the Bible end times prophecy,go to a remnant church watch someone like Jack Hibbs for biblical truth amen.
