Fines by Mail?

You can bet government - especially broke blue state $hithole governments - are exploring ways to make this happen:

  • Ford is trying to patent a way for its cars to report speeding drivers to the police.

A patent application from the automaker titled “Systems and Methods for Detecting Speeding Violations” was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Jul. 18 2024, and was originally filed by Ford Jan. 12, 2023.

In the application, Ford discusses using cars to monitor each other’s speeds. If one car detects that a nearby vehicle is being driven above the posted limit, it could use onboard cameras to photograph that vehicle. A report containing both speed data and images of the targeted vehicle could then be sent directly to a police car or roadside monitoring units via an Internet connection, according to Ford.

And just to make sure you hesitate to buy a Ford again, they're also selling your info to insurance companies in order to raise your rates:

  • Though some of you may know this, many owners will not, so consider this a "Public Service Announcement".

Ford is now selling your driving data to a company called LexisNexis. This company is a New York-based global data broker with a “Risk Solutions” division that caters to the auto insurance industry and has traditionally kept tabs on car accidents and tickets. However, it turns out that LexisNexis is using your driving habits (acceleration, hard braking, speed and how fast you take corners) and forwarding this information on to insurance companies that then increase your insurance rates.

Remember when corporations weren't trying to be stooges of the government?

Every manufacturer sells your info to LexisNexis. All the insurance companies use them. If you have a car that is able to connect to any internet connection your driving info is being uploaded. Even if you don’t pay for ford sync or GM onstar, or whatever your car uses, your info is being sold.

Sadly, all the newer cars are spy mobiles now. Spying on everything you do and say in your own vehicle and selling any data they like. Remember when your car was your own, without all this spying. Anything for more money. I have little faith the government will fix this problem.

"They track everything from geolocation data and driver behavior to potentially sensitive biometric information like heart rate or facial expressions. Groups of Tesla employees internally shared videos and images recorded by cameras in their customers’ private vehicles. These days, a single car can collect up to 25 gigabytes of data per hour. Learn about your vehicle’s capabilities for data collection, especially via cameras and microphones". The NYT article linked to above, is an article I had already bookmarked a while back. It’s not only Ford providing this data currently to LexisNexis so I saved that article and to figure out which automakers were doing it. I’m in the market for a new car, current one is 2005 before all this shit was even dreamed of, and I’m hoping I can find something that doesn’t do it.

I became aware of LexisNexis years ago when I got a ticket in Orland Park. When I went to pay the ticket online (to Cook county) and opted for online traffic school and supervision so it wouldn’t go on my record), it was a payment company owned by LexisNexis. A few months later I got a letter from State Farm telling me my renewal premium had been negatively affected by information provided by Lexis, So I took advantage of the free report you are mandated to get for negative information they keep about you and it was the ticket. So supervision might save you from points towards losing your license, but now the insurance company finds out about it using private data gatherers. Maybe if I paid the ticket by mail to the court it might not have entered the LexisNexis system , but last time I did that back in 2004 the slugs at the clerks office sent me a letter saying my bank rejected my check with a reason of “no such account” so I had to go downtown and pay in person to get the supervision.

In Orland Park if you want to get a police report you have 2 choices. Go in person to station and file a FOIA and wait, or you can go online for a fee and get it instantly from LexisNexis. So by providing this “service” to local governments they’re hoovering up the data and since they’re not the government they’re free to sell it.

We are already in the grasp of Communism. They are telling us we have to buy electric cars. They are banning fossil fuels. They want to ban gas stoves. They want to control our electricity. They want to control our diets. They want to control our speech. They want to tell us what pronouns to use. They want to control our children and take away the rights of parents to determine control over their bodies. The list goes on and on.

Now Ford wants control over what we do in our own cars and report us or others to the government. You know the government is behind this. There needs to be a massive boycott of Ford products.

We are sinking deeper in the quicksand of the far left Democrat control of our lives. The problem is the hundreds if not thousands of laws that are created each year by the politicians that we the people never asked for. Get rid of the lobbyists and special interest groups and the government bureaucrats.

Long, long ago, in a land right here, not now, there were things called motor vehicles. Fueled by gasolne, carbureted rotating crankshaft pistoned engines, ignition via points distributor, so simple even a caveman could maintain them.

Then came the electronics, first replacing the points distributor, with pulsing spurts of fuel into a still simple cabureter type assembly, followed by individual cylinder inje tion of fuel.

Still not yet digital controlled, but rapidly getting to it.

Even when digital circuitry became the default control of individual cylinder fuel injection, amongst many other functions, still remained as stand alone equipment, no wireless devices, thus, no wireless connections.

Works well, reliable, lasts a long time, as my 1993 will attest.

Then they commenced the infestation of digital wireless devices, making each individual vehicle a wireless signal slave to thread of transmit/recieve/controlled by same technologies.

The bastards.

Tesla also has the ability to monitor the speed rate of acceleration, and breaking of its cars. The info is reported back to Tesla . Musk wants to provide insurance to Tesla owner with the rates based on how safe the vehicle is operated. He opines that rates should be based on how the vehicle is driven so that hot rodders with their jackrabbit starts (a little 50s slang to confuse the kids) pay a higher premium than we more reserve drivers.

I think this is a good idea. One of the reasons I only buy a new car (new to me) every 20 years or so is because of the higher insurance rates.

I wouldn’t buy a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily) because Ford owns the Lions and supports taking a knee when national anthem is played. They also moved their assembly plants to Canada and Mexico.

Of course Government Motors will never get a nickel of my meager savings.

Now SCC you and the bandit might be concerned that they will, or already do, have the ability to determine how long your car is parked in front of those adult beverage emporiums.

I don’t speed. I don’t drive like an asshole. I’m annoyed by how bad people drive. But it doesn’t surprise me. It’s criminal how much of your data is sold everywhere. I pass up the discount from my insurer every time to track my driving. And I’ll gurantee they’re doing it anyways, because just about every insurer has you download an app now just for the premium payment. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not running the tracking in the background. Almost every new car you buy has an app it requires for the onboard GPS to work.

Just wait until we confirm that Google is selling the Maps data to insurance companies, law enforcement, etc. They have the data on a huge percentage of motorists — and if you are not paying for the service, then they can sell your usage. Not hard to compute who was speeding from GPS point A to point B, even in real time.

Plus the data from insurance companies themselves where we get “discounts” for good driving. Every one of them tracks speed.

To those inquiring about red light tickets....I work in a burb and a couple of months ago had this exact conversation with the commander who handles red light tickets. He told me NEVER pay the tickets and take it to the shredder. There is absolutely no recourse for them to collect, suspend registration, or do anything. He has told everyone he knows the same thing. You might get a few calls from collections but simply block them after you tell them you will report them to the local police for harassment. With that being said he told me the future for the red light companies will be speed enforcement cameras on every major street in this state.

I bought a 23 Toyota Corolla and my insurance rates went way up after the first six months, I received a letter from them stating “excessive speed, hard breaking, etc…” and that was the reason for the rate increase. Further investigation with Toyota, I authorized them to track these things and sell my data when I accepted the terms to use the Toyota care app and apple car play. I was able to opt out but the damage is already done. To add insult to injury, the car salesman was adamant that he set this up in my car before I drove off the lot and doing so was tied to his commission. F Toyota, never buying one again.

It's only a matter of time before they come down, anyone who drives through Oak Brook knows that insane amount of cameras on the corner of 83 and Cermak was torn down because the damn FBI caught the Oak Brook mayor with 50k in cash and in bed with the Red Light company.

Just wait for the next mayor/politician to get caught, they'll tear them down more than anything, no one is asking to put them in, only tear them down, these cameras are a joke and unconstitutional, that's why they make them into ordinances non-movers(no points on your driving record) because they couldn't go bat in court as a "stop"/mover with the amount of legality and financial risk it comes with.

President of that company is an old official from Washington administration, she was I believe in charge of the board of elections. They sued oak brook when oak brook took the cameras down and claimed it was a rogue official doing the bribery and they do nothing illegal. This story came out a couple of years later. Amazing none of them have been indicted. Maybe some have but I would’ve noticed is she was.

SafeSpeed and its president, Nikki Zollar, have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, characterizing Maani as a lone wolf and saying they were completely unaware of his illegal activities.
But the 35-page search warrant affidavit obtained by the Tribune shows that Zollar and another top SafeSpeed officials were working with Maani in 2017 as the firm was pushing Presta to boost how many tickets his cops were approving so SafeSpeed could rake in more money.

Omar Maani, who was co-owner of SafeSpeed LLC, could see bribery conspiracy charges against him dismissed as part of a deal cut with federal prosecutors, attorneys revealed in court on Sept. 4, 2020.

At the same time, Zollar was caught on a federal wiretap telling Maani she’d been “told to write a check” for Presta’s campaign fund and arranging for it to be delivered, according to the affidavit. Maani was not cooperating with investigators at the time and did not know the FBI was listening in.
While the SafeSpeed officials are not identified in the affidavit by name, other details provided in the document show that the person referred to as “SafeSpeed Official A” is Zollar, a clout-heavy public official-turned entrepreneur who built SafeSpeed into one of the area’s biggest ticket generators.

Fuck them, fuck Ford, fuck 3rd party evaluations
