- SCC, just so you know, the Inspection Division has been told that all personnel will be conducting Medical Checks on everyone who is on the Medical Roll during the DNC with house visits a regular occurrence, not just phone check-ins. Please remind everyone, any time they leave their residence, they have to check-in with their District of Assignment, notify the DSS and be properly logged. Also, trips out of the City are forbidden without prior approval of the Medical Section, and they aren't going to be authorizing any travel whatsoever.
Failure to follow procedures is an automatic day to start. Multiple violations and you're looking at five days minimum.

A retired copper with 40 years from DuPage County moved down to Florida and made that his primary residence for most of the year in the winter. Because of this, the Illinois State Police REVOKE his FOID card.

If you abuse our medical policy in any way you should be fired immediately. Don’t ever for any reason abuse this policy or jeopardize it. Follow the rules, comply with the medical section. You won’t find this type of generous policy that allows you to get surgeries without authorization by the department, only your doctor. Seriously, medical abusers are pieces of shit and should be publicly lambasted.

The amount of call offs will be minuscule. Most of the department now is a bunch of yes men and women. Bobble heads to their drinking buddy Sgt or Lt, who coincidentally will be the first one throwing them under the bus when something inevitably goes wrong. And come on now team member…:you aren’t calling off either. You and the team are too scary to work a beat car, to answer a domestic or generate a crash report . Plus you don’t want to lose those 2-3 hour lunches everyday.

Not quite sure of the account about the retired cop with 40 years on the job getting his FOID card confiscated after it had been revoked since he lived in Florida. The guy can get the retired carry federal qualification that allows him to carry in all 50 states. And yes you can qualify out of state also. I qualify here in Texas and the only thing I pay for is the range fees. CPD used to charge a C-Note at the academy. In Texas you don't need an FOID card anyway. My guess is Florida is probably the same. BTW...used to be the medical checks could only be conducted before 2200 hours. If the department was so concerned about the well being of its officers they should give you five mental health days. And not force POs to use the medical to keep their fucking sanity....

I changed my DL to Indiana. I contacted FOID before I left and had them cancel my FOID due to moving out of town. In the event I need my IL DL back, it is easier to get a FOID the second time around.

Years ago a guy I worked with went on the Medical. Well the DC (Cough Curtin) sent a Sgt to his house for a medical check. His wife answered the door and told the Sgt her husband was in bed sleeping due to his illness. When the Sgt demanded she get her husband up so he could see him she told the Sgt "My husband works for CPD, I don't!' Then closed the door on his face. Good times
I hate this city and can't wait to retire!
I tell all young would be Officers to go elsewhere but this blue shit hole of a city!

Law was changed that u forfeit your FOID when you change your license. Retired family member moved to Vegas, just for the winter months, like a Florida snow bird. Got better car insurance rate, had to get a Nevadas drivers license.
Came back in May, went to work for Monterey like he did every summer, two days a week. Monterey called him in June and said his FOID card was revoked. Had the IRock card from Il. Was told its no good with out the FOID, now he has to get it thru the State of Neveda. Went to the ISP in Desplains they told him sorry but a new law went into effect.
33 years of service. Also they have a new program where any cop in the state with the leads computer on any domestic must revoke the Foid Card. Also any suburban Nazi can revoke your Foid card, by stating they feel you are a danger to yourself and others….they immediately want your fire arms in 48 hours.

Only ISP’s foid / CCL section can revoke a foid. When someone gets an OOP against you, the courts submit the request to ISP to hit the foid / CCL. If a Clear & Present Danger is completed, that also goes to ISP so they can make the determination on revoking the FOID / CCL. No random suburban copper is just axing foids. And just for additional, when it DOES get revoked, the person is told to bring the foid / CCL & weapons to their local PD BY ISP.
So do the world a favor. Go back to hiding in a corner, dogass. Cause it’s pretty clear you haven’t a clue wtf you are talking about.
The LEOSA is a federal law,. Not a lawyer and not in Illinois anymore, but wouldn't the federal law allowing a retired PO to carry supersede the state law requiring FOID?
FOID cards are only for Illinois residents. If he has his LEOSA card from Florida, he dies nor need a FOID, even if he is only visiting Illinois.
Why? Because they pay your salary when you are off and recovering, and they subsidize your insurance. Just any other job does.

YT recently did a Facebook live post stating how she appreciates everyone for showing up and doing their job. So don’t worry she and the Supe will make up for tbe CL# with an “Officer Appreciation” celebration. YT will host the event again.
Inspectors should be auditing and inspecting the bogus equipment we’re about to go into the DNC with. Why are they harassing officers, when a number of Tier 1 officers don’t have helmets, gas masks, etc? Isn’t that a part of the uniform? Some officers were never issued a gas mask. Other officers have broken/unsafe helmets, and the department is not ordering new helmets or repairing any. Were in the last hours, before the DNC…there are other things inspectors should be concerned with like available equipment and supplies: (ensuring that all department bicycles, beat tags, segways, riot shields, body worn cameras, radios taser holsters, etc are accounted for. But don’t let that stop you, go ahead and write the officer for the tinted windows he has to keep from being followed home from work and court by criminals.

This is another example of promoting unqualified and undeserving personnel into positions of leadership and affording them the opportunity to get preferential treatment, while you drop the hammer on everyone else.
Ask GP in k9 about running from the inspector at 26/Cal back in the day. one of the funniest stories I’ve heard on this job.
Between inspectors, days off cancelled, bullshit training on the opposite shift from the one you work and the normal stress of the job what could go wrong? Why do you think so many of the coppers that left the job for a greener Pasture are begging to get rehired? There are hundreds of them because they found out that they don’t get the generous medical time they get maybe five days plus they have to be accountable for everything and a lot less money. Lastly, they have to wear the same uniform. they have to look alike in their uniform unlike here.

I don't know where you got that information but that is completely untrue. Only a handful of officers have come back to work for this department. To further support this the link to the rehire program has been taken down, its dead program.

Law was changed that u forfeit your FOID when you change your license. Retired family member moved to Vegas, just for the winter months, like a Florida snow bird. Got better car insurance rate, had to get a Nevadas drivers license.
Came back in May, went to work for Monterey like he did every summer, two days a week. Monterey called him in June and said his FOID card was revoked. Had the IRock card from Il. Was told its no good with out the FOID, now he has to get it thru the State of Neveda. Went to the ISP in Desplains they told him sorry but a new law went into effect.
So, family member claims to live in another state - while only spends the winter there - to get a lower insurance rate? That’s called fraud. Big dummy did it to him/herself!

Between inspectors, days off cancelled, bullshit training on the opposite shift from the one you work and the normal stress of the job what could go wrong? Retired for a few years, I’ve had Inspectors back me up on in progress calls and traffic stops more than once in my 30 year career.
Back in the day they were Lt. Rank not Captain? When and why did that change. Always thought it should be position for a Sgt.

Yes, take it from direct prior experience, that the rumor of hitting the medical can warrant getting a number because it’s an attempted work action to disrupt department function. If it’s true, don’t hit the medical. I was part of this in 2007 where out u it did it. Our thinking was how can they prove I wasn’t sick.. well, the rumor leaked before detailing the plan, the dates and what was going to happen. 36 of us hit the medical according to plan. The number was documented prior to the date we hit the medical just like this. Boom, they got us. 90 days. Grieved it and we got 90 days.. they didn’t take a single second off the initial recommendation. Out of the 36, 27 took ALOT of time like myself. I wouldn’t screw around with it.
Inspectors have been Captains the last 15 years or so.
They negotiated the deal in their contract.
Take home car. BULLSHIT job.

Area Detectives don’t have to go on the medical to screw things up, they are in charge of the entire arrest process which include juvy and adult arrests. They can slow the process down. They can show up, screw things up and get paid overtime while doing it. Tread lightly Chief Talley.
