It’s on you if you were lazy enough to listen and leave your stuff overnight. Anyone on a team should have enough experience to know you should always keep your equipment with you because your assignment can change at any time. And leaving valuables in any vehicle in Chicago is asking to have them stolen. Time spent on beat car with a salty vet would’ve taught this lesson instead of running around with the “cool” kids.

At a minimum, if the equipment had to be removed (which it didn't), they should have placed it on tables in the academy according to vehicle and team. Members should have then reclaimed their belongings only while on duty. The Department and City are fortunate that more Officers didn't place themselves on the Medical Roll and that this DNC nonsense went pretty well, all things considered. The powers that be will take full credit for it, undeservingly. It just seems that sometimes the Mayor and Command Staff have lucky horseshoes up their ass.
It was a "success" because it was a whole lot of nothing. I get it we have to be prepared and all that but what a waste of resources! If only the same effort could be provided week in and week out for the city residents.

equipment was left secured inside locked transportation vans for use on the final day. then the department decided to re-instate days off and not tell anyone until 0000 hours. they emptied the now-unneeded vans at malcolm x college, jumbling everything into piles seen here while 3rd watch people were home sleeping.

OT: Has anyone on the job that is a blue shirt looked at their seniority on jasper? I came on 8 years ago and im at about 4K for seniority. With approx 8k blue shirts, half of the backbone of this department has less than 7 years otj.
