Standardized Tests are "Racist"
Stacy Davis-Gates of the CTU (Indiana Division) has a message for all the minority students and parents about how poorly their kids are doing on standardized tests: (paywalled article)
Chicago parents have been wondering when Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates was going to address the disastrous reading and math scores in Chicago public schools. Now she has.
In an interview in early August with Chicago radio news station WVON 1690, Ms. Gates was asked to respond to the union’s critics who are concerned that so many of Chicago’s students aren’t reading or doing math at grade level. Her novel answer: The tests are racist so they should be ignored.
“The way in which we think about learning and think about achievement is really and truly based on testing, which at best is junk science rooted in white supremacy,” Ms. Gates said.
Not that teachers suck - it's the testing.
On a completely unrelated note, you've seen the last of CPS minority graduates advancing to Johns Hopkins University, one of the top medical schools in the world:
Johns Hopkins University will resume requiring ACT or SAT scores for undergraduate admissions to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering, starting with applicants seeking entry for the fall 2026 semester. For students applying to enter Hopkins in fall 2025, who may face time constraints preparing for or accessing the SAT or ACT, the submission of test scores will be encouraged but not required.
Hopkins adopted a temporary test-optional policy in 2020 due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, including severely limited access to testing. The submission of standardized test scores was made optional for applicants through the entering class of fall 2026.
So we can assume that Johns Hopkins University is now the most racist higher education establishment in existence.....so far. You can be sure other universities are re-implementing standardized testing to find actual qualified candidates for their degrees.

Yes tests are racist. So meritorious promotion will fix it. It works so well, look at our Merit promoted 3-4X over
Always the lowest testing students turn out to be CEO’ s Titans of industry ect. Does that mean that only a racist can pass a standardized test?
You do no kid any good by having them totally unprepared for the real world, but as we speak they are trying to push this DEI agenda into every facet of adult life. Just look at who the DNC presidential nominee is. She didn’t even get it legitimately based on any policies she offered up to primary voters.
Her kids go to private skool are the private skoolz using standardized testing? If so won't that make Stacy a hypocrite? Wouldn't prove she a liar? If some are wondering why I mispelled skool it in honey of my misedumacasion.

OEMC training department is way ahead of this. During LEADS certification they leave a stapled cheat pamphlet next to the computer. Mr. Clean’s ugly twin brother should be looked into for supplying test answers. Why is a dispatcher assigned to the training department the interviewer for call takers and dispatchers? What his track record? Hiring people that would scam PPP loans?

Many of her ilk do not want to be part of Western society. They are now actually saying it out loud. Recall a couple decades ago they floated the idea of "Ebonics" because black kids couldn't speak the English language appropriately. Wouldn't be surprised to see that debacle resurrected.

Who's to blame for SDG being president of the CTU? It's the 10, 000+ CPS teachers that choose NOT to vote in the last CTU election. Over 25% of them went MIA. None of them pushed for absentee voting or voting online or by-mail.
Who's the blame for BJ being mayor? It's the 2/3 of Chicago voters that choose NOT to vote and those 66% of voters didn't even attempt to mail-in their votes either, which is easy peasey.

Why does CPS even bother to use standardize tests for anyway, especially as teachers continue to get handsome raises with each school's academic numbers in the toilet and principals and teachers not being held accountable either.
Principals bounce from one school to another and when they finally wear out their CPS welcome, these shitty principals end up in predominantly Black school districts in suburban IL or in other states.
One shitty CPS principal to keep an eye is Trista Harper. Harper has been forced out of multiple CPS schools as their principal, yet, she was recently hired as principal at Hancock HS. This aftetr the Simeon LSC refused to extend a new principal contract to her and after former CPS OIG Nicholas Schuler recommended her firing from Manley HS for grade, graduation, and attendance rate padding.
Harper was caught fudging stats even as Manley HS had equity grading (students receive no lower than 40%-50% on all graded work) intact and absences and tardies weren't figured into each student's grades. This along with mounds of extra credit and unlimited remakes on quizzes and tests.
Not only does the CTU want to do away with standardize tests, they want CPS to get rid of teacher evaluations as they're racist too!!!
So no accountability by administrators, teachers, and students, but 9% raises every year for teachers, regardless of production.
Keep an eye on Hancock HS principal Trista Harper as she's about to be outed by WBEZ and the Chicago Bum-Times.
Do Catholic schools used standardized tests the same as Chicago Public Schools? If so how do these students test out versus those in public schools? The same for Charter schools in the city. Also how do these students score on ACT and SAT tests?

why does Law School require the LSAT and why does Medical School require the MCAT? Because if you successfully graduate from medical school but fail to pass the licensing tests afterward you are out about $300k and you are not a doctor. And you cannot take the MCAT repeatedly until you pass.
How can a test be racist when CPS students cant even read well enough to understand the questions??? Either way, I see them lowering the standards again. It wont matter too much, as they will get hired under the new DEI standards to meet their quotas...
Genetics influenced by environment is the main cause of low test scores. We are not created equal. Equal under the law but not biologically equal.
I think for English it's a little unfair to be honest. From school to home it's two different languages. I fail at it a lot, mostly because I write like I speak, which is learned. Yeah, you can break the habit, I know. As for math though, no way. It's as neutral a subject as you can find, it's universal.

Standardized tests only seem to be "racist" toward one race. Asians blow the doors off those tests, and are discriminated against by colleges in favor of whites and blacks with lower academic achievements. But .... "white supremacy."

I went through 8 yrs of Catholic grade school 4 years of Catholic high school and 4 years of college and the people that were not good test takers were the ones that didn’t know the material period. It had nothing to do with race only individual knowledge of the test taker.
Kamala just said that America will lead in A.I., not China. Good luck with that when CPS graduating seniors cant do the math of a 6th grader in China. CTU should be focusing on teaching math and science instead of how to line their pockets, give kids IPADS to do math on, and how to get rid of standardised tests that way no one can measure how stupid the teachers actually are.
