We won't even try to describe what we're seeing on various feeds, but the order to mask up has been given and numerous columns of cops are headed to the UC,
Are we going to see tear gas deployed?

UPDATE: Four arrests so far, perimeter is re-secured and the media is saying it's just a small group of the thousands marching.

They didn’t deploy gas when the city was burning to the ground in 2020 they sure as hell ain’t gonna do it under this soft ass administration. We can’t even mobilize our platoons properly…These bosses had a panic attack when BDU officers in riot gear stood in front of POs in Unifrom as things came to a head at union park. Officers were ordered to return to their vehicles and take off their pads “too scary” for these soft liberals. Protect yourself and each other, no one has our backs, but us!

Please let me tell you a story. I retired a few years ago, like so many of you I vowed I would leave that city and not look back. I did. I fled to another state and don't miss it a bit. I don't miss the poor bosses, the bullshit, the cut and paste orders, the merit, etc. etc. I miss the people, I miss the good bosses, I even miss the work itself. The one thing I didn't plan on, was that I still worry about you guys, kind of like a parent worries about a child no matter how old they are. You are a magnificent people and you will do an incredible job. I know this, because this is what you always do. Please don't consider this a rah-rah speech. It's not meant to be. Let me tell you a story to demonstrate what I mean. In the late 90's a young policeman was shot. His name was Michael Ceriale. He and his partner were doing a drug surveillance on the South side. He was observed by the dealers and was shot just below his vest. He was rushed to the hospital where he remained in critical condition for about 6 days. Throughout that terrible ordeal, Michael Ceriale became the talk of the entire department, The first question at roll call was "How's the kid doing? Any change with Ceriale? Quickly, the watch commanders were giving updates without anybody asking. The whole department was really pulling for this kid. At one point there was an All Call message requesting blood for Michael Ceriale. It said any members wishing to donate blood go to any area hospital and tell the personnel there, it was for Officer Ceriale. Watch Commanders were to allow one or two members to donate while on duty as "Time and Manpower" would allow. About 45 minutes later, another All Call message came out stating that there was enough blood for Officer Ceriale, and members are reminded not to block emergency room drives with squad cars.
That's who you are.
The second thing I want to remind you of, is that there is NOTHING in that city other than another Police Officer, Firefighter or Paramedic that's worth getting hurt over. it's simply not worth it.
The other thing you need to know is that there are people across this entire country praying for you, in the Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, in peoples homes after Bible Study, at kitchen tables before meals and at the foot of a bed at days end.
Please be careful and get home to your families.
Reports are 100,000 anti-Israel protesters are in Chicago or on their way. Not one Chicago Policeman is worth confronting these "A" holes.

From watching video streams of the 'action' outside the UC so far, it appears that the only way the protests turn into full blown riots is if the Policemen and others in charge of security 'let 'em in' like the US Capitol Police did on J6. No sense anyone in uniform getting injured. Not worth it plus it will make for great television for those of us living in the Land of Sanity.
The ironic part is, not one of those pu$$ies would step foot in Gaza now.
Been watching on TV. Protesters dislodged 3 sections of fence and carried them to the park. I few protesters breach the opening causing 4 to be arrested and the remaining pushed out by CPD. Thats been it. CPD emptied the park

One thing I will say about the news coverage, is the respectful manner in which Channel 32’s Nate Rodgers spoke of the performance of law enforcement in the midst of the violent protestors breaching the fence line. Mr. Rodgers ensured the story was fairly reported by clearly reporting the actions of law enforcement and the unlawful actions of the protestors. Mr. Rodgers deserves our thanks!

I was there just after the breach, just there to watch not protest. I'm not a cop, will be voting for Biden. But I have to say I was really impressed with how well the police handled the whole thing - overwhelming force, calmly pushing the crowd back. When a few wouldn't move, one of the guys in charge talked them into moving. The crowd was taunting and confrontational, it would have been easy to respond with violence. But by not taking the bait, by calmly pushing people back until the park was clear the whole thing was defused. Eventually most people got bored and left. Yeah a couple of arrests and maybe I didn't see everything but what could have turned into a huge news disaster was not that big of an incident. I have to hand it to you - I couldn't have shown that much patience.
Don’t give them too much credit. If this were the RNC and not the DNC the media would be attempting to embarrass the police and convention at all costs. The only reason they want to offer praise is bc they want this thing to run smoothly. I’m sure even the paid protesters have been given their instructions from the overlords.

CPD had tier 1 guys assigned to the protest at the UC, but their acces route was locked with a padlock and no one had the combination. Took them 20 minutes to get over there. They were mere inches from running into the secured perimeter.

The US Capitol Police are solid, and we can thank them for being a large part of the reason the protestors couldn’t get all the way through the perimeter.

1) Snelling ordered the Capitol police to take off their gas masks. Mad optics I guess, but the USCP was about to gas them. wtf?
Larry’s plan failed, Tier 1 was nowhere to be found, and the protesters were about to make entry
2) While debriefing the incident, the USCP supervisor was praising his guys and giving them a pep talk, and he distinctly said to his troops “we can’t do anything about the indecision of Chicago’s chain of command”.
If Larry was out negotiating with the hamas supporters, who’s really running the show
Monday was their test run. See where the weak spots are. Find out what type of response we will have, how many and how quickly. They know how easy these fences come up now. Joe and the Hoe made their appearance today so when hell breaks loose on Thursday they will already be back in DC. Tuesday and Wednesday will be less than to day as they rest and prep for an all out assault on Thursday.

Much to do about nothing. Standard March with some loudmouths. A small group got past the first fence around the UC. Was secured and they were pushed out fairly easily. The Palestinian protest we had down on wacker a few months back was way worse than this today. So far so good. If we get protests like this we will be in good shape. We can handle the small group of morons mixed in with the march. Many from the march were all for us getting the trouble makers out of their group so it worked out.

I say all the officers on the front line are making us look good...but still have 3 more days to go..anything can happen. I do have to say, after watching fox news coverage, i see a couple of women and a guy, with a pad of paper, right in front of the officers on the front line, trying to read officers names and stars and writing them down and god knows what else....fuck these assholes!

Capital police blasted their asses one good time last night. Protesters went home and we got released on time. End of story. Day one was a success.
That’s true. On the other hand every man and woman on the medical shouldn’t be applauded. During NATO with the exception of the truly injured or ill came OFF the medical, not wanting to leave partners and coworkers hanging. Cowardice within the department is ALWAYS remembered. Maybe it’s time for those on the medical to cut and run OFF the job, it’s clearly not for you, nor could you ever be trusted to have anyone’s back.
There were several access areas blocked for removing arrestees.

Who in the hell was in charge of logistics. Officers couldn’t get to arrestees for removal streets were blocked. Access sounded impossible. This was just a test run. The real shit show is yet to come.

Above post is well stated and appreciated. I too, am retired from "Da' Job" after four (4) decades of working the street. I'm proud to have served with some of the 'finest' men and women in blue, never having a bad day...some were just better than others. On a topical note above, 21 August 24, marks the 26th anniversary of when Mike Ceriale finally lost his fight for life. His friends at the time from 'the Duece" still remember him annually in contact with each other to this day. I remain proud to have served with one of the greatest fraternities on earth, the Chicago Police Department. May our good God bless and watch over ALL our fellow first-responders (and military) past and present. You will remain forever in my personal thoughts and prayers.
Took 30 minutes for officers to arrive and no agitators arrested. Just the ones breaking the line after officers arrived. The brass is a bunch of chicken poop especially poppapeeepee. All lies on tv by meritorious to look good. You don’t care about your troops. Failed on day one

Protesters removed 3 small sections of dense and a few entered they were immediately stopped and forced out. The fence opening was small and it was hard to push them out
Why wear gas masks when there is no gas or tear gas
They were never anywhere near breaking thru the perimeter. Breached a small section. TV had a picture off a small woman and a man carrying this small section of the fence to the park. Total exaggeration
