Members Sue Union

The Chicago Teachers Union is facing a lawsuit by four of its own members for breach of contract because it failed for over four years to provide an annual audit to members, as is required under the union’s rules.
Attorneys for the plaintiff CTU members sent a letter to the union on Oct. 1, 2024, demanding the union release audits for the missing fiscal years. When the union failed to comply, the members filed suit.
The last time CTU released the required document was Sept. 9, 2020, covering the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 fiscal years. While keeping its members in the dark, CTU has raised their dues by 13%, to over $1,400 for its 2024 fiscal year.
This (hopefully) throws a wrench in Stacy Davis-Gates' plans to extort taxpayers (by holding children hostage) to the tune of a few extra billion dollars.
An interesting paragraph in the report:
Those who have dared to question CTU’s finances have been targeted with insults by its president, Stacy Davis Gates. Other members have just left the union altogether.
It’s not a good look for the union: refusing to abide by its own rules, keeping its own members in the dark on union finances and then driving up their dues to pay for whatever the union’s leaders are doing with the money.
That sounds familiar to a lot of comments here over the past few months. Trouble over on Washington Blvd?

I hope this goes beyond self dealing and taking care of friends and family.

All unions, nor for profit organizations have to get audited every year. I think it’s a federal law and GAAP. I’m pretty sure FOP7 has and annual audit and the results are available if we all look. If CTU is not complying with federal audit standards they prob breaking rules if not laws. But this is Illinois and crook county and less are for the little people.

Money corrupts, even the Marxist, Socialist, Communist leadership at the CTU. If Trump wins, the new FBI and US Attorneys Office needs to investigate this organization. We’ve already seen that Stacy Davis Gates shares similar hypocritical traits with Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard and Chicago Gremlin Mayor Brandon “Spike” Johnson. Spend a lot of money and scream racism when questioned. Stealing CTU members money to fund the Democratic Party.

Only 7% of a CTU member's dues ($1400/year per member) goes to representing members.

I saw the email sent out over the weekend regarding this matter. Even if the whistleblower has half of what he says he does all it’s gonna take to make heads roll is a decent lawyer to run with it. And I was shocked, shocked I tell ya to hear IAD is trying to deep 6 it all. Too bad coppers have short memories, shorter arms and deep pockets and are scared to rock the boat, even when the department blatantly effs them.

It’s rather simple to understand as it’s common sense. When your unions (FOP) board of directors votes in lockstep with the president (Cantanzara) because they’re cowards interested only in keeping their captains rank salary plus perks, to keep dues paying members from seeing financial documents that belong to the membership, same financial documents that were never kept from the membership in the past, THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING. And then when the state fop runs interference for their future VP (ALSO Cantanzara) regarding denying members their union rights and privileges to inspect all records regarding union business, the stench gets worse. I’ll bet 90% of the membership has no clue this is going on.
