Shooting
- An armed suspect was shot overnight by a Chicago police officer in Brighton Park.
Police said just before 12:30 a.m., officers were investigating a call of an aggravated assault and a person with a gun inside a business in the 3900 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
The responding officers encountered the man who displayed a firearm. When officers tried to take it away from him, police say he fired his gun. One officer returned fire, hitting the man.
This is the second time in a week or so where the reports are that Officers were attempting to "take away" a gun on a suspect. We're pretty sure we weren't taught that way and most safety protocols don't advise wrestling over a gun.
Glad everyone important is okay though.

Bless the police. F÷×k anyone on the street, with a gun, other than concealed carry people.
Most of them are trying not to be a victim.
First thing they do, raise arms, identify themselves .
Thanks to Barry and the anti police movement it’s nearly impossible to use proper force without having to constantly worry about getting locked away for life if the shooting don’t look good on video or it gets twisted by the media and shithead politicians. And I mean shithead shitbird ghetto rat politicians. So they’ve accomplished their goals to totally fuck with the police.
This is over 20 years pushing a car answering calls talking. If I have to do I’m ready but this is why you have police trying to wresting a gun away from offender instead of just shooting.
Now they have one more defense against hostile anti police establishment.
Times have definitely changed. And not enough spots for all of us to hide inside avoiding police work. Someone has to answer the calls.
Trying to take it away ... no softball snow flakes.. order them to drop it and put their hands up and step away from the gun, take into custody and then recover the weapon.. and if they fail to comply with any of the above.. u find cover and radio for a sgt, swat, da chopper, and a violence interpreter, all while gaining distance and shielding ... aka run forest ruuunnn in the opposite direction.
Maybe not the best tactics but a good result.

Protective pat downs inevitably lead to the discovery of loaded firearms, so unless your partner is at the gun ready position the fight is on to control that weapon...

Doing these types of disarming tactics may not be the wisest. Remember the kangaroo courts are designed to punish you not to ensure justice.

The video from the local news story shows the exterior of a building that used to house Wyman's Tap. Not sure if it's there anymore, but I spent many nights there after a "victory lap" when I worked in the old Area Three (39th & California).

There’s no good way to do a stop nowadays. The old tactics have been deemed illegal. The bad guys have no fear of the police or court. It’s a no win for the police.

If you are in arm's reach of an armed opponent, it might be more effective to go hands-on rather than draw your own weapon...
