Off Duty Wounded
Trying to save a woman being stabbed in broad daylight:
- An
off-duty Chicago police officer was shot, while attempting to intervene
when a woman was being stabbed on the Northwest Side Tuesday afternoon,
CPD officials said.
The incident took place in the 5600-block of West Leland Avenue in Jefferson Park. Just after 2:20 p.m., an off-duty detective assigned to the Area Four Detective Division saw the woman being attacked, and fired shots at the suspect, police said.
The detective suffered a graze wound to the leg, while trying to stop the suspect, police said.
The suspect remains at large Tuesday evening.
And the woman died, so yet another homicide in a formerly quiet northwest side neighborhood that isn't so quiet any more. How many is 016 up to now?

UPDATE: suspect dead - apparently, the Detective got in fatal shot.

I keep seeing the Mayor and Governor talking bold that they wiil protect the Sanctuary status crap. Yet they would not allow the citizens to vote on it in any previous election. Why, because it would not pass. The majority of people that can legally vote would not want to be a sanctuary city or state. The drain of money and resources hospitals, schools, ect costs tax payers and dimishes availability to actual citizens.

You almost suspect these judges figure that to err on the side of the criminal will keep them safe from some form of retribution. After all, who is more likely to dish out retribution, an ordinary victim, or a violent criminal? And their tendency, over time, is to get safer and safer. Maybe that's what's really meant by "SAFE-T" Act.

The X files. The media, Channel 9 Investigates tonight described that the homicide clearance rates are not all they the city likes to claim. The city talks about total clearances, with the exceptional clearances are in the total. Subtract those x-cleared and the cleared by arrest and prosecution significantly drop. Now if the media would look at actual convictions, they would notice another drop. Maybe 15 to 20 percent of murders actually go to prison for murders in cook county. The funny thing is that it took years for the media to figure the x clearances out and report it. I wonder what the real reason for this story now. Someone with an axe to grind? An agenda? Has the media looked at all these years of building "community trust" to see if there are more homicide prosecutions and convictions? Those numbers would be interesting also.
There was a time, like it or not, you could get away with a lot of things, but have a felony domestic and you weren’t going anywhere. Judges didn’t like that blood on their hands. I worked in domestic violence shelters in my youth. Those DV advocates raised holy Hell to get dv laws and protections in place 35 years ago. Where are all those card carrying feminists now? It truly amazes me that they are silent on this because most of them now are on the side of liberal ideology like the Safe-t act and men in women’s bathroom s. They can’t blame misogyny on this one.
