Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is currently set to receive a pension worth an estimated $3.8 million through the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund and the Municipal Employees Annuity and Benefit Fund.
He qualifies for these benefits thanks to multiple loopholes in the state’s pension code. His pension payout could ultimately be worth far more – maybe $5.53 million – by further leveraging these loopholes after four years in a classroom and his first term as mayor.
Four years teaching - total. That's it....2008 thru 2011. The law says five years minimum, but who follws the law anymore?
Then twelve years as a union toady.
Then one term as the worst ranked mayor in Chicago history (so far).
And the various loopholes and such - almost like concurrent prison sentences - let him parlay assorted employment gaps into a pension worth in the neighborhood of $4 million.
No wonder we're bankrupt.

Mayor CTU claims teaching was the best job he ever had. Ok, then why did he leave the teaching.profession after 3 years at Jenner ES and one year at Westinghouse HS?

I think coneheads salary and pension should be based upon his approval rating. Taxpayers should only pay him 14% of that and even that may be too generous.
In fact why not pay all the elected officials based upon their approval ratings with the budgets determined by the people not the very elected officials themselves.

Records obtained by the Tribune show Lee cast his ballot for the November 2024 presidential election in person on Election Day in Houston, where his voter registration address was listed and where one document indicates he told Texas election officials he lived. But he has also served as Johnson’s senior adviser since the mayoral transition in May 2023 and signed an affidavit that month attesting that Chicago is his permanent home.

MBJ (4 yrs, 2 schools) & SDG (7, 3) have a combined 11 years of CPS teaching experience at FIVE different schools.
Both have been on loan to the CTU from CPS for a total of 26+ years, 13+ yrs apiece.
MBJ was on loan to the CTU on 07/01/2011 and SDG on 09/08/2011.

She went off and started a RECRUITING firm to place Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Principals in these scheister school districts... A RETAINED recruiting firm - so it gets paid about $40-$50K to "locate" and vet a candidate for a school district.
