Windfall Vote Coming?

Only a week left to push this through:

  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday he’s “doing everything” he can to try to pass legislation that would enact some Social Security reforms before Congress ushers in a new class next month.

Schumer said at a rally the Senate “is going to take action on the Social Security,” telling union members, “you’re going to find out which senators are with you and which are [against] you.”

It's a lame duck session, a bunch of senators have been absent from the December business and it's still something that might benefit the police, whom democrats hate. We still have our doubts.

A friend of mine who's a used car salesman once told me that the first thing you got to do to make the sale is to create a sense of urgency. Time is running out. While supplies last. Sale ends on...xxx. I don't know if the car will be here if you leave and come back later. A Lotta ppl been looking at this car

AND...

THE BUDGET DEADLINE IS NEAR WE DONT WANT TO SHUT THE CITY DOWN WE'LL LOSE MONEY...Yeah right. Shut. It
Down no tax increases they get this tax increase the CTU tax increase is next for half empty schools and failing students f.u

During Friday's city council meeting, Ald. Jason Irvin called for a motion to recess the vote until 1 p.m. Monday, which passed 32 to 16. But the move caused shouting and chaos, NBC 5 reporters at City Hall said, with some aldermen disputing rules that would allow the recessed vote.

Soon after, Johnson quickly left the floor.

The city faces a Dec. 31 deadline to get the budget over the finish line, or risk a reduction in its bond rating. City leaders would also need to agree on the budget to keep necessary programs running and avoid a shutdown.

“We have to get this thing done so that we don’t close the city down… if we do close the city down, we lose money," said Ald. Walter Burnett, 27th Ward.

The city needs a forensic audit to see who goes to jail over the years for misappropriation of millions in funds. They have been robbing from one fund and shuffling it to another for friends grants or made up plan to take care of some made up positions. It probably will never happen to protect each other. Just look at all the made up positions in this administration. The game is rigged and were not in it.

The following is a statement from Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget:

It is truly astonishing that at a time when we are just nine years away from the trust fund for the nation’s largest program being completely exhausted, lawmakers are about to consider speeding that up by six months. And add on top of that another $200 billion in new borrowing as a result. We are racing to our own fiscal demise.

Even worse is that repealing WEP and GPO does nothing to address the windfalls they are intended to eliminate – instead, it just restores windfalls for folks who have other government pensions. What an incredulous set of events.

Hastening Social Security’s insolvency will only make its consequences worse; benefits will be cut by an additional 1 percent while reducing lifetime benefits for a typical couple by $25,000. We should be talking about how to prevent this cut, not make it bigger and happen sooner.

The Senate should reject WEP and GPO repeal. Instead, they should come together to try to fix the issues with WEP and GPO as part of a comprehensive package to strengthen Social Security, prevent insolvency, and make the program’s finances sustainable over the long term.

Read what it is. It is for people that are fully paid into SS. That means if you had another career before CPD or worked side jobs your whole career. If I am entitled to $2,000 per month, they will only give me a percentage of that, even though I have fully paid into it to receive my $2,000. They penalize us for receiving a pension. This doesn't affect everyone and we will not start paying into SS via our paycheck.

Are you dense? This has nothing to do with CPD paying into SS.

Did you work a job before CPD?

Did you work a non CPD job while working for CPD?

Did you work a job in retirement from CPD?

If you did then those monies paid into SS from non CPD employment is what this addresses.

Don’t be dumb and don’t be stupid!

Dozens of part time jobs over my lifetime and those jobs I paid into SS. CPD pension and lost 65% of my SS benefits which would have been around $300.00 a month. 1st check after 62 when filing for SS my monthly SS check was $4.00 due to additional reduction for taking SS @ 62. Worked for 20 yrs all part time after retirement while paying into SS and now I get $49.00 a month after Medicare is paid for. Woo Hoo!
