Some just don't get it. Being fired for doing as ordered is not progress and not all macho like you want to pound your chests about. And don't start with the "they should have known better". Start thinking about your job - all the protocols, directives, and orders you are forced to follow as an everyday matter of your job. Now, a new mayor of Chicago gets elected, appoints out of nowhere some hack who has never worked law enforcement a day in their life to run CPD and another know-nothing podcaster to be first deputy. Their first move is to start firing every PO left and right - no rhyme or reason. You worked here 10, 15, or 20 years: too bad, you're gone, just because they say so. That's what is going on here. You think these guys at the lowest agent level decided what to work on or had a choice? Your are naive. And use caution - what goes around comes around. It doesn't take that long for things to change yet again.

The FBI needs a COPA like organization accepting anonymous complaints and other frivolous citizen complaints. This anti police organization then can publish their findings providing your body cam captured video and audio on a website dirtying up the agents while recommending hefty unwarranted suspensions and terminations with their amateur opinions. And then a federal consent decree monitor nitpicking your every move justifying their existence by publishing their findings year after year ad nauseum. It takes a fed to monitor a fed. Put fear of God in the agents doing their lawful duties so they experience a day in the life of local law enforcement, who by the way, do all the heavy lifting. And fear getting fired in the court of public opinion advanced by marxist leaning civilians after doing everything right.

As far back as I can remember, In the early 60's when O.W. Wilson, non-police officer and up to the minute, former academy gym teacher, leader who was never the real police. Can you name more than 1 or 2 that were the real police. Not that just rode around in a squad for a few years before the meteoric climb to the top. I bet not.
As for following orders, oh, some were stupid and possibly unlawful, BUT, not treason and sedition. Attempting to overthrow a duly elected President like they did. They had a choice! There is always a choice. If you are afraid to confront an illegal order that's on you. Grow a pair or GFO!
