A Bad Example
Three months after he was sentenced to probation for threatening to kill a fellow Chicago police detective, CPD homicide Detective [MT] has been charged with harassing a third officer in an attempt to keep her from testifying against him.
As he faced charges of assaulting a female detective in 2024, prosecutors at a hearing Wednesday said [MT] allegedly called another detective and tried to persuade her not to testify in the case, using a prepaid “burner” phone.
[MT] was charged with simple assault and battery of a third detective, with whom he was having an extramartial affair, during an argument in front of his house in 2023.
[MT] last year was found guilty of the assault charge and sentenced to one year of probation that includes a provision that he is not allowed to carry a gun. As that case was pending in May 2024, prosecutors allege he called another detective, identified by prosecutors as “KC,” who was a police academy classmate and mutual friend of [MT] and the officer he assaulted.
So, violated one of the Day One rules at the Academy - BBB will get you in trouble.

Continued to contact someone involved on the periphery of the initial instance via a burner phone - which is not as untraceable as you think....something a detective ought to know. That is a rather large No-No.
Sorry to say, at this point the involved Detective is what is known as "an example." As in, an example of what not to do. As in, an example of continued bad decisions. As in, "They are going to make an example of you because you didn't learn from previous mistakes."

I saw the article and read the lawsuit awhile back. I actually thought that it was fake news, because no one that I know knew anything about it. My neighbor brought it to my attention first, after seeing the Suntimes article a few months ago. I asked around, but everyone played dumb and then I was told by a friend of a friend (union rep) that knows one of the two, that the Area One D-Unit Commander Watson was in charge of this investigation when she was a Lt. in the IAD Confidential and she and Chief Talley dropped the ball and cover everything up. I was told that they actually put the initial victim’s life in danger. I was told that this guy threatened to kill the initial victim a while ago, lawsuit says in her department email and BIA Chief Talley did nothing about it. Then this guy supposedly told a witness that he was going to have his commander (Watson) to get her fired, if she testified for the victim. This dude has some real balls. It’s all on the internet now. It’s public information.
I’m sure he is.

Correct. Emails and screenshots of threats made were sent to Watson and Talley. Everything was ignored and the attempt to sweep everything under the rug was done by detailing the female Det to another Area. Things progressed and the lawsuit was filed. Talley gets another promotion to 1st and Watson will more than likely be bumped up to Dep Chief before the end of the year.

The sergeant merit selection on the AMC indicates that Commander Watson is still over the Area 1 Detective Division. She should’ve been demoted behind all of this.
Superintendent and Chief Ursitti, MT was arrested twice associated with an investigation that Commander Watson covered up. When is Commander Watson going down? Or is she better than the recently dumped Commander Barz? It’s all public information.
