What is Conehead Smoking?

There's tone deafness....and then there's Conehead Tone Deafness:

  • As Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson marks two years in office this week, he talked about his swings, his misses, and why he thinks his poll numbers will likely rebound.

Currently, Mayor Johnson has strong crime numbers to boast about — a 24% drop in homicides since taking office. But his poll numbers are currently terrible, and some of his handpicked leaders in the City Council even say he is trending toward becoming a one-term mayor.

Mayor Johnson is a big basketball fan, and his term is now at the equivalent of halftime of a game. He was asked if he is leading or trailing?

"I think the people of Chicago are certainly winning," the mayor said. "You cannot argue about safety in this city as we drive violence down. You can't argue that we're not building affordable homes, because we're doing that."

Um....cities aren't supposed to build affordable housing. They can remove regulatory burdens, but government can't and never has built anything truly affordable, because it all ends up being funded by taxpayers AND no one ever gets held accountable for missed deadlines, shoddy construction and cost overruns.

That's why Chicago is broke, along with Cook County, Illinois and pretty much the entire country being $37 trillion in debt.

And crime numbers fluctuate. Chicago was on the verge of truly lowering crime back in 2019/2020 until the plandemic blew everything up and numbers skyrocketed. We are merely returning to the trend line established in the 20-teens.

The Tribune has an amusing editorial up that a bunch of people are quoting (sorry about the paywall):

  • We’re halfway through Mayor Brandon Johnson’s term, and the city the mayor described in a series of recent interviews to mark the milestone hardly resembles what we see.

We agree with the mayor that Chicago is a great American city, made so by the people who live, work, play and love here.

But in many other respects — a transit system that continues to perform unacceptably, public schools that cost too much and do a poor job of teaching our children, violent crime levels well above peer American cities and a local economy needlessly deprived of the dynamism that produced our uniquely beautiful skyline — Chicago is ailing.

For all the unfair shots ideologically motivated critics take at the city, Chicagoans who’ve grown up here and made adult lives here know something has gone wrong these last two years. They’ve seen what this city looks and feels like when things are going well. And, judging from Johnson’s rock-bottom public-approval numbers, many of them have concluded he’s a big part of the current problem.

And once the Bears leave town, that's going to be yet another check mark against any kind of positive legacy this moron is attempting to make.

Mayor Johnson should just move on. He has zero chance of getting re-elected. To try is just a waist of time. Superintendent Snelling better get ready to move on too. The next Mayor I'm isn't interested in him or his idiot Command Staff. The rank and file feel they are all clueless.

From the CBS article, May 14, 2025.

“ Mayor Johnson says he's considering a trip to Rome to meet with Pope Leo XIV”

“ Mayor Johnson said there is talk of going to Rome to meet with the new pope.

"There's a desire for me to lead a delegation in the future," he said.

“Mayor Johnson said he is considering going to the Vatican because he is not sure when Pope Leo XIV is coming to America.

"If we can't get him here in short order, I'm going to work with some folks to see if we can go meet the pope," he said.

How quickly could the mayor set up such a trip?

"The summer is one thing, but if we can, you know, figure it out before the year ends, that would be great," Mayor Johnson said.“

Mayor Conehead is a delusional narcissist. So it’s who’s desire is it for him to lead a delegation to visit the Pope? And how many people will be going on our dime? The Cone said, that if can’t get the pope here in short order they will go to meet. How very important the Cone thinks he is by getting the most major religious figure in the world here “in short order”! The Cone is a minor politician in the world order. What makes him think he is so important that he needs to meet up with the Pope and that the Pope wants to see him?

While he is driving the City into the ground he utters statements of buffoonery.

Maybe the Pope could send him a bishop’s mitre to wear over his cone to pacify his inflated sense of self importance!!!

He could win a second term. Political polls are extremely inaccurate. Relying on political polls to gauge public opinion is like trying to rely on a psychic to predict the future.

In elections, turn out is always low for mayoral and local elections. Whoever mobilizes more voters wins. Mayor Johnson has a lot of organizations who are willing to do that.

Just the last two years?!? Try the last two decades.... if not many more. It's just that the last five years have been the final signal to many of us that there is no recovery, no return to normal, let alone return to greatness.

Combined with February voting, one of the shittier months weather wise also means shit turnout. Fuck the weak Republicans party in Illinois for allowing rank choice voting in Chicago. Their subservience ensure there are no real choices in Chicago elections. Chicago is doomed like a dinosaur. Wandering into the tar pit..

You could run to the city of Naperville oh wait a minute this is what Naperville police put out getting that taste of Chicago ruining that area now : don’t forget they voted for section 8 they are city council. Are they getting their own Naperville‘s very own or are they getting the taste of Chicago?

This past weekend, Naperville Police responded to two separate incidents involving large gatherings and unlawful behavior.

The first involved a large gathering of up to 200 teens and young adults being disruptive downtown on Friday evening. Officers issued multiple citations for unlawful behavior and violations of our ordinances, and a 15-year-old female from Aurora was arrested and charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, as well as misdemeanor resisting arrest, littering, and obstruction.

The other incident occurred Saturday night and involved a large meet-up of about 100 individuals, some driving recklessly and lighting off fireworks, on the northeast side of town. Officers were strategically deployed and issued a number of citations during the event. Additionally, a 20-year-old male from McHenry was arrested the following day after an investigation allegedly connected him to several crimes committed during the meet-up. He is charged with reckless driving, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property and mob action.

We spotlight these incidents today as a reminder to citizens that we take our duty to keep Naperville safe very seriously and will not tolerate unlawful behavior and violations of our state laws and/or municipal ordinances.

You will likely notice more Naperville Police officers in our downtown, at special events, and around other highly populated areas throughout the city to help prevent disruptive behavior and encourage a safe, welcoming environment for all. Our officers will be highly visible in areas where people typically congregate and there will be zero tolerance for trespassing, disorderly conduct, fighting, or any behavior that puts others at risk.

Please partner with us to keep Naperville safe and enjoyable for all. As you’re out enjoying all the wonderful businesses, parks, and amenities our city has to offer this summer, please:
• be sure to follow all laws and ordinances;
• report any criminal, suspicious, or unsafe behavior immediately to police; and
• dissuade teens and young adults from attending these large gatherings, which are typically organized on social media and often end up involving criminal or dangerous behavior.

Thanks to all the neighboring police agencies that assisted us with responding to this weekend’s incidents, and thank you, the citizens of Naperville, for your continued support of our work to keep Naperville safe.

The decision to investigate stems from remarks Johnson made at the Apostolic Church of God in Woodlawn, where he highlighted the number of Black leaders he has appointed to senior roles in his administration.

In his speech, the mayor listed key officials, pointing out their race and titles, including deputy mayors, the budget director, and the city’s chief operations officer. He said he was "laying out" these positions to "ensure that our people get a chance to grow their business," according to the DOJ.

The Justice Department said it had reasonable cause to believe a pattern or practice of discrimination may be occurring. The investigation will look into whether similar decisions are being made at other levels of city government.

You can blame Johnson for many failings in Chicago, but if the Bears leave, you cannot pin that on him. That started long ago under Richie Daley and his attitude about a new stadium and insisted on building onto the Soldier Field . That and the issue that these NFL owners feel entitled to unlimited tax money for their stadiums.
