Parade Aftermath
So what happened after the parade this past Sunday? A lot of comments pretty much lambasting the command staff:
- You want to hear something funny, turn on your police radio. Car 5 aka Jon Hein running the post pride parade debacle. What a useless moron. The parade ended at 1600, it is now 0100. This dumbass has all the manpower possible with days off cancelled and 12 hours shifts yet after 9 hours still doesnt have this under control. (SP)-Hein-(LESS) will prob continue to follow the people around for 4 more hours too.
- Hein should be dumped after last night. A total disaster with no preparation or leadership. Get some people in there that were the police. Not your side piece and house mouses
- The shit show last night is completely on Chief Hein. We had adequate resources, the problem is he just will not arrest people, he lets them walk around, just like all the protesters. Lack of experience and balls
All that talk about how police "can't arrest their way out of a situation" is just so much bullshit. A couple arrests, even a few dozen, stifles the baser instincts of people who don't want to spend the night in custody.
Regardless, after seeing this photo of the aftermath (thanks to all who sent it in):
....we're more convinced than ever that this and every other parade needs to be moved to Grant Park for neighborhood safety, available parking ($$$), crowd control, equipment storage and clean-up reasons.
As an added bonus, Conehead could bid it out to some connected company and remove the incompetent police supervision almost entirely from the equation. Plenty of opportunity for some profit-skimming in there somewhere.

Why do they call everything that happens down there “price festivities”?
Giant mobs of south side shitheads jumping on cars has nothing to do with “pride”, and everything to do with a free opportunity to put your lawlessness on display.
All of these videos I’ve repeatedly seen of people dancing on/destroying cars, why do they all see to be the same demographic?

I’m surprised no one has said anything about the motorcycle scandal in 007 tact office that has now had a direct domino affect to other tact offices. Now LTs and captains are going into tact offices in 019, 001, and 009 and getting rid of any “trophies” we had.
Long story short, some hot headed POs decided that they wanted to vandalize (cut wires) on a group of motorcycles and steal their helmets, because of a pissing contest. Was anyone arrested? No. Just a lot of talking shit between the officers and the shitheads. But these officers decided to one up everyone and slice wires off these bikes. As if they didn’t learn anything from the DC scandal last year. They also took their helmets (anyone that rides knows how expensive those can be). The cherry on top? They left all the evidence in the 7th district tact office as a trophy. Goes to show what type of teams captain Edwards had.
The guy kissed ass all the way to his current spot. It wasn't police work. He is a yes man. Does what he is told to do. Uses you to get ahead and discards you when no longer needed. Get use to disappointment.
Hein should be demoted back to a Patrolman. Shit for brains and Pedo glasses.

The Detectives were detailed to the beaches starting at 1pm, at 11pm after standing in the sun all day they send everyone to Pride. Our bosses from the beach went home and their phones were off. We get to Pride and every boss was too busy to talk to us, as we tried to check in multiple times. Then, gold star says push them north, 10 mins later a captain says push them south, and on and on confusion in the clown world. Where was the tact teams coming in waves like the previous year, this year they didn’t do that. This seemed like a save money event. Capt said have the Detectives form a skirmish line, yeah right we started at 1pm, it’s 2am we shouldn’t even be here. Finally cut at 3:30. I swear this is the last pride, we all talked about it, medical is the only way they are going to learn.
The bosses can’t comprehend that most ppl drive down their at night, the whole plan is to herd them to the redline but most aren’t going to get on bc they drove. They box them in and herd them around and block them off from going down the streets where their cars are.

The problem isn’t staffing: it’s allocation and leadership.
They had teams with 2000 hours start time for no reason but early teams kept getting held over. Morning hours had too many teams and should’ve been covered by event security.
The real problem was the big bosses not wanting mass arrests. CDTP, DOPW, pissing, obstruction… If 250 people were locked up = a lot of shitheads would have left and thought twice about wreaking havoc next year.

I worked the pride parade for 22 years, and bud billiken for 12 years. I really disliked working both, but I would take bud billiken any day over pride. On the positive side, I retired very happy with tons of comptime! We always had great bosses who had our backs and knew what they were doing. McDermott and Nagode were some of the best.
