Chicago Bears President and CEO Kevin Warren reiterated in a letter to fans the day of the home opener that the team is dedicated to building a new stadium in Arlington Heights.
"The Chicago Bears belong to more than just Chicago. We belong to the entire state of Illinois," Warren said. "We are at a pivotal juncture of the Chicago Bears franchise to build a new stadium, our future home in Arlington Heights, which will require zero state money for construction. This is the year to finalize our stadium plans so we can officially bid to host a Super Bowl as soon as 2031. This is the moment to begin moving toward that future, and we want you with us."
This will be one of the defining moments of Conehead's legacy. He didn't start the process, but he was there at its low-point.
Illinois and Cook County don't care - they'll still get their tax revenue. But Chicago won't.

When the Bears bought the Arlington Heights property in 2023, that was a statement. Now a move nets them significant property tax, infrastructure, mixed use, and location benefits that makes sense for the business. As a prior model, the NY Giants/Jets moved to Rutherford NJ in 2010, and have reported significant financial benefits as a result.
Ten of thirty-two NFL teams play in home stadiums outside of their namesake cities (e.g., NY, Dallas) for similar reasons the bears are moving. No surprise.

Force them to change their name to the Arlington Heights Bears, and have them change all of their publications and logo's etc., or fine them daily for the unlawful use of the City's name, images and likeness without contractual authorization. Or maybe they'll offer a one-time payout of 2 billion for continued use of the copyrighted material. The City could invest that for future growth. Oh, wait.... Well, we may have to settle for a a small check to conehead's private revenue stream.
Also the convention business will follow, new hotels, new meeting rooms. All of this just to get away from our murderous youth.

Senior friend of mine, a retired Lt was with his daughter last night at Soldier Field and sent a couple fabulous selfie pictures. He and his daughter lost their wife/mother recently, and impact from that loss puts a new spin on life, family and what really matters. Despite the Bears loss, they-just the two of them-had a great night out.
So, to each his own. Just change the channel if it’s not what you like. Don’t go to any sports event. Or delete the post if you don’t like the comment. It’s really just that easy.
