Help Wanted
A slick TV commercial created by ICE that is currently airing on NBC Chicago and other local television stations is controversial for several reasons. The ad tries to attract disgruntled Chicago and suburban police officers to work at the federal agency that has ramped up immigration arrests since President Donald Trump took office. The blunt recruiting ad comes as ICE teams are marching through the city and suburbs making arrests.
Also, the commercial takes dead aim at Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is not a fan of the agency or it’s tactics.
The ICE TV spot begins: “Attention Chicago law enforcement. You took an oath to protect and serve, to keep your family, your city safe. But in sanctuary cities, you’re ordered to stand down,” referring to a no-cooperation policy that Chicago has in place. The TV ad offers a solution: “Join ICE, and help us catch the worst of the worst.”
The commercial is a blatant attempt at poaching officers from already dwindling ranks at the Chicago Police Department and puts a bull’s eye on City Hall and Mayor Brandon Johnson.
"Can I just say that it's a horrible way to recruit?" Johnson said on Tuesday.
Um, we don't see the national administration telling people that "law enforcement is a sickness." That's a step up from your failed administration already.
They don't wear cameras. They don't have four or five different oversight agencies looking to put you in prison. They're actually encouraged to enforce the Law. Their pension is system is unlikely to go bankrupt.
Sure, there are downsides, but if you're a young copper with less ties to this blue city blue state shithole and less family tying you down, it's worth a look.
On a side note, has everyone been watching Conehead? We mean really watching him lately. Dude is literally breaking down in slow motion. It would almost be sad if he was a human being, but he's a worthless commie puppet for the CTU and Prickwrinkle. (our insults are slightly more creative than Conehead's)

Had a conversation with a firefighter over the weekend and he related that the panic attacks are quite often and a big deal. On duty command chief must be notified, hospital alerted, radio silence and most communications done by cell phone. Ambulances on the ready and a total hush hush operation. In addition his child has a peanut allergy but likes peanuts and has them regularly causing another headache with on duty command notified, secret communication, hospital alert and hush hush all over. Thoughts are that the kid is a mental case and loves the attention. FF said his company has been involved in a couple of

Look at their pension. Most pensions for law enforcement fed jobs start at 34%. Unless you jump to a high level boss, like top level-executive management, you will get 34% of mid to low $100,000 plus Soc Sec supp. Its about $4500 to $5000 per month.
If you go, put into their deferred comp, max out as soon as you can. There should be a govt 6% match to what you put in.
Bless you if you go, save yourselves…the city hated police for years. But its understood it you stay. Remember, there will be new Administrations running the Fed after this one, and who knows what they’ll do to. They have had cuts for certain positions.

Since law enforcements are a sickness, and taxations are imposed via laws being enforced, is it then not true that enforcing taxations is a disease? And is it also not true that our city, county and state collections of taxations is the very definition of imposing sickness, aka, disease upon our population?
Lets see here...sidestepping every unqualified bosshole in our upper ranks? Stepping out of COPA's stranglehold on this department? Out from under a mayor who should be locked in a padded room and playing jacks? Working for a pension system that is unlikely to go broke? Room for legitimate promotions? If the city treated it's workers well, there would be no one leaving. That is a concept that the CPD and city fail to realize.
It is hard to walk away from the city that you grew up in. But, you can always visit. After a few years, you realize what an excellent decision you made because you watch the decline of the city, you watch your friends getting angrier, and you tire of listening to the same excuses to stay, year after year.
Some people will whine about missing the Bears, many of them will have early strokes from sitting around every weekend, drinking themselves silly. Many will whine about missing “Chicago food” a s if. Chicago is the only place they can get “good” food. Spoiler alert, beef sandwiches, pizza and hot dogs are easy to find in any city, especially since hundreds of those businesses left Chicago and set up in other cities and towns.
Get out. Get out any way you can or you will join the ranks of the miserable Illinois taxpayer.

If you decide to move to southwest Florida, there are several places who serve Chicago style food. Jimmy the Beef Guy is located just north Naples and is in Ft. Meyers is from Chicago. Everything (beef, sausage, breaded steak is from Chicago. His Italian Beef is fantastic. Joey's Hot Dogs has several places in Florida. There are several nice sit-down restaurants who's owners are former Chicagoans in the Naples, Ft Meyers area. Besides, if you are an accredited Police Officer from another State, you get an $50,000.00 signing bonus. I know, a friend of mine just signed on with the Naples.

Im going to try to get hired by ICE. There is very little tying me here in Chicago. I see no reason to have days off cancelled every summer. It's going to be different but that will be welcome. If I hear one more Lackie on this job say "This is the finest department in the country, I am going to vomit. This city is a freaking raggedy circus. Chicago voters cant get out of their own way, and constantly vote for democrats even though they are progressive socialists. Mayor conehead is indeed breaking down. The cracks are showing in his behavior. He has some weird tells, but they are undeniable. It is most apparent when the press asks him questions about crime rates, and the NG referral from Trump. Housing is unaffordable Not a good choice. Yes the state will give you a 5,000 bonus not 50,000. Get your facts straight. I checked into it and am staying where I am. Get the facts correct.
If I knew someone at the agency I’d love to hear from them. Especially if they once were employed with CPD (or any other LE agency). It’s such a risk to take the jump, though. And once a democratic President and/or congress regains power, ICE will be targeted for “reform.”

I try never to get south of Madison, but the occasional trip to 35th/Mich is necessary. Ive also been outside of Illinois. Coast to coast theres no good pizza out there. Enjoy it here while ya got it. Just saying.

They are NOT afraid to lose their employment or be sent to prison. Remember that. Secondly, policing isn’t work, its a service. You clearly have never WORKED in trades, dug ditches or performed any other labor intensive job.
Dems will win in either 2028 or 2032, no question. So you got 3-7 years of employment before you’re on the chopping block. It’s a good starter job but not a career at this point.
I was a contract investigator with ICE for a few years. It is a very good job with good pay and benefits and good promotions. However, you are a federal employee and can be reassigned anywhere in the USA and in some foreign countries.
In these times of phony transparency, feeding the gossip cravings of so many, a wise choice is to not be seduced into joining the hordes of barnyard hens clamoring for information, presuming said information has validity beyond the obvious duplicities abundantly disseminating.
