Waaaaay back in 1988, democrat Governor of Massachusetts Michael Dukakis was running for President. In one of the most effective political attack ads in history, Republicans brought up Willie Horton, a murderer that Dukakis freed on limited parole, who went out and continued to commit crimes, including rape. Dukakis never recovered.

A confessed killer institutionalized after murdering a homeless man and eating parts of his body in a Connecticut cemetery could soon be walking among us once again — and local politicians are none too happy about it.
Tyree Smith, dubbed the “Cannibal Killer” by local journalists, was granted a “conditional release” Friday by the Nutmeg State’s Psychiatric Security Review Board — meaning he’ll be allowed to leave Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown for supervised jaunts, WFSB reported.
The decision was made after doctors who’ve been treating Smith said he’s been fully rehabilitated, thanks to medications that quelled the voices in his head.
Seriously? This is a f#$%ing cannibal....and they're going to grant him "conditional release" so that he can eat more Connecticut citizens because he's "cured"?
This type of stupidity seems to always appear in democrat-leaning $hitholes, and we can only hope his next meal on the outside is someone who actually voted for this.

In the general election Republicans cited the problem of revolving door justice but didn't broadcast Horton's name or picture.

These Lee Atwater attack adds that truthfully showed Mike Dukakis to be extremely soft on violent crime, letting a convicted murderer out on an unsupervised weekend pass where Willie did a home invasion, raped and tortured a woman/couple and Dukakis never admitted this was a bad program.
George Bush Sr even won California! Not that Bush Sr was any better on violent crime, I was in New York City 1988-90, we had 2,000 plus annual murders not that President Bush noticed - he was too busy invading Iraq, same as the Trump Admin is now invading Iran.
But, I strongly recommend SCC cop writers, and readers study the Lee Atwater Willie Horton Adverts - these were very effective, the most effective TV political adverts since LBJ’s attacks on Goldwater saying nuclear weapons were just another weapon and having a cute little girl count down with a nuclear missile about to go off.
I wish SCC would update it’s software (Wordpress) so we could attach image files showing other excellent political adverts that helped populist/Nationalist parties in still sane place such as Poland, Hungary and Switzerland win their national elections.
Let’s be honest - American GOP, Conservative Inc, Country Club Conservatives tend to really suck at Political Advertising as they do on pretty much everything that counts. Can anyone here remember a single TV advertisement, street poster from the Bush Jr, Mittens Romney or Bob Dole campaigns? I can’t.
