Some of the most infamous killers in history, including John Lennon assassin Mark David Chapman and “Son of Sam” serial murderer David Berkowitz, could soon be freed if Albany passes a pair of woke parole bills, critics warn.
The Elder Parole bill would let violent criminals dodge their minimum sentences, regardless of how heinous their crimes, and be granted early parole hearings after they’ve turned 55 and served 15 years of their sentences.
A second lefty measure, the Fair and Timely Parole bill, would require the state parole board to release convicts regardless of the severity of their crimes unless they are a “current” danger to the public.

The morons proposing this are "progressives" and avowed socialists.
At this point, it's probably safer for the killers to remain in prison for the rest of their lives anyway, because there are still plenty of surviving family members who'd appreciate the chance to extract their own revenge on these murderers.
Can you imagine getting a chance to take out the "Son of Sam"? It might become a tourist draw.

Here is a link of to six justice involved individual who can be released if the proposal becomes law. The progressive argument is that it is expensive to keep these animals in a cage. Maybe the progressives can push for the death penalty as a cost savings measure.

Wow, 55 is still young. Especially for such brutal cases. IMO both cases had more than meets the eye but I digress…other “Sons of Sam” died violent deaths back in the day.
Criminal pension, serve 15 years and 55 years old and you are out of jail
Gotta love the Orwellian naming of the bill, "Fair and Timely", as if requiring a murderer to serve out their entire sentence is somehow unfair. It reminds me of a saying: "Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent."

If we solved the problems of crime and poverty, the left would put themselves out of business. Violence and destruction is baked into their cake. It's how organizations like the SPLC keep themselves in business.

This is entirely about the state of NY trying to dodge the expense of healthcare for elderly inmates. Think of all the taxpayer dollars efficient use of the death penalty would save instead... All those decades of food, lodging, & healthcare for the Son of Sam & his ilk haven't been free.

Had the convicted murderers received the death penalty, aging-out or prison wouldn't be an issue.
