Chicago police say a man sexually assaulted a woman as she walked through the Loop on Friday afternoon, but the attack took an unexpected turn when another woman allegedly stabbed the assailant in the eye before officers arrived. A second man who intervened in the confrontation was also cut during the chaos, according to police.
Crime scene tape surrounded the entrance to theWit Hotel at 201 North State Street, where the attack unfolded shortly after 4 p.m., according to witnesses.
Police said a 24-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when a 31-year-old man sexually assaulted her. The suspect then became involved in a physical altercation with a 25-year-old man who intervened, CPD said. As the two men fought, a 36-year-old woman at the scene allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the suspected assailant in his right eye. She also cut the other man on his left wrist, according to police.
We're going to go out on a limb here and say the guy who got cut across the wrist was probably a Good Samaritan who got in the way of the woman wielding the knife. If true, maybe he'll refuse to cooperate and everyone can just agree the shitbag who got stabbed in the eye is the only offender.
Hopefully, the first of many instances for the Summer of 2026 - the year Chicagoans just got fed up.

Vice President JD Vance condemned the murder and arrest of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, a British university student stabbed to death by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, in a social media post Friday.
“Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit,” Vance wrote, responding to bodycam footage of Nowak’s final moments. Digwa accused Nowak of racially abusing him and called police to the scene under that pretense, according to Judge William Mousley’s remarks at Digwa’s sentencing. Nowak was handcuffed and arrested by responding officers at the scene and died that night.
Digwa fatally wounded Nowak with a kirpan, a dagger carried by some Sikhs. Nowak was unarmed...

I demanded he return the book to the library. Protect your kids from negative ideologies, from others who want to harm them, etc...

The only thing you did there is provide a forbidden fruit. Instead, you should have provided a point by point refute of the central points of socialism stressing how many millions of people were murdered by starvation and how poor the quality of life is under socialism.

While I understand your wish to protect your family, I have to say that demanding the 16 year old return the book on socialism may not have been the best course of action. Why not instead engage in a conversation about the realities of socialism - counter what the book said with facts from history. I read "Mein Kampf" and "Das Kapital" when I was younger than 16, and understood from talking to my parents (gasp) and reading non-revisionist history accounts why both books were full of sh*t.
Brotherman, what you did has virtually guaranteed your son will soon be your daughter, doing fentanyl and protesting capitalism. You don’t make them return the book and ban discussion, you win them over to your side and counter argue the points in the book. My dad wanted to move in 61, it took the place he worked closing in 71 to get my mom to leave her family. Once in Florida he kicked herself for waiting so long.
