Father Michael Pfleger scolded Trump as Chicago community leaders on Monday called for a city agency to tackle gun violence prevention following the weekend's bloodshed.

Anyone know how much the Catholic Church pays in taxes every year?

And if they don't pay taxes, commenting on expenditures of tax payer funds is generally off limits.
Yes, we're aware of politicians campaigning at certain churches and such, but they don't actively solicit funds. That would - and has - run afoul of IRS guidelines regarding non-profits.
But if Mikey wants to comment on how the government spends tax money, well then by golly, his organization ought to start paying taxes starting with Illinois Property Taxes.
After all, there are pension shortfalls to make up and a whole boatload of untaxed revenue to be tapped.

Allowing this “priest” to stay at St. Sabina’s all these years instead of rotating him out like any other priest was just one of the many inconsistencies within the Catholic church that has made me leave it.

There was no real plan or strategy to stop the violence. Morale on CPD is so low no one really cares anymore. Just a bunch of bodies going trough the motions.
Someone mentioned taxes. In Germany churches pay an 8% tax rate. The practice traces it origin back to the German Socialist Democrat Party in the 1930’s. Yes, it was Hitler who promoted and established the taxing of religious institutions in Germany. The laws have survived the defeat of WW 2, the Allied Occupation, the division of the country, the Cold War, the reunification of Germany and several changes in government administrations. Thru all of that, no one has tried to eliminate the taxing of religion in the country.
Father Michael, the moocher, Pfleger needs some of that free funding to keep his cult going. That parish cannot support itself. Other parishes in middle class neighborhoods were closed even though the parishioners raised large sums of money to try to save their churches. Wasn't enough for the the braintrust at the Archdiocese. It would be interesting to see an audit of St Sabina's.
Pfleger is a horrible representation of the Catholic church. The archdiocese is terrified of him and he pulls out that fake voice when the cameras start rolling. I've been at several of his events for department details, he plays the community and they buy it. Who's the bigger fool?!
He corrected me when I showed up for a shooting by his racket...I mean church. I gave a description over the air of the shooters. He corrected me and said "they're African American, not black". I told him "if I meant African American, I would have said it, they were black. We have 2 African American Chicago Cops, and they're white. We all know it isn't just about politics, far from it, but shouldn't the Fr. be more concerned about finding and keeping lapsed Catholics and filling the pews at many empty churches? And how about the dropping enrollment at so man Catholic Schools? At one time, non-Catholics enrolled in the schools because it was regarded as safer than public, and a source of a good education.
While he's at it, why not just disentangle the Church from politics altogether and focus on saving souls> Unless you prefer to give up all that tax-free status and figure out how to make up the short fall on your own.

While I agree with voting with your donations and giving them elsewhere than the current Chicago archdiocese, I disagree with taxing churches at this point in time. Many will close due to economic pressure. Chicago took Easter off the holiday calendar and added Juneteenth. That move alone turns our backs on G-d and divides us further. Its just not a good time to hammer churches with a broad stroke of taxation.

I've written Cupich & George & the Papal Nuncio more than once citing violations of Canon Law that call for Pflakey to be removed from ministry. They never replied. They allow him to violate Canon Law with impunity.
I've seen videos of services at St. Sabina and they are not in accord with The Ritual. Pflakey needs to be removed from ministry and a new Pastor appointed for St. Sabina to restore The Ritual to the mass.
Catholic Church Archdiocese here in Chicago: free, free, free stuff. No property taxes, no water bills, free fire, police, ambulance, and social services for its clientele.
