Conehead Finds Money Tree

Rahm's Magical Money Tree must have bloomed this past week, and Conehead is taking full advantage:

  • Chicago will move ahead with its full $260 million supplemental pension payment, Mayor Brandon Johnson promised the city’s investors Thursday.

Johnson pledged to make the payment — aimed at chipping away at the city’s towering unfunded pension liabilities — during the Chicago Investor Conference. But as he argued City Hall “cannot simply cut our way out” of its fiscal woes, he did not reveal what new taxes or fees he will propose to balance the city’s next budget.

“Let me say that one more time: I want to reassure this audience that the city will make the second budgeted supplemental pension payment this year,” he told the investor crowd. “Because of property tax delays from the county, it’s a question of when, not if.”

The pledge adds another, and possibly final, chapter to the saga of the $260 million payment, which has become a key source of contention between Johnson and the City Council.

Got to love how Conehead claims he "cannot simply cut our way out," without ever making a serious effort to make cuts.

We'll just remind him where there are plenty of cuts that would save a hundred million tomorrow:

And that's from three years ago.

Now find the list of how many employees are actually at each of these schools to serve 3%-18% of students! That’s where the real money is going!

Anyone in the private sector with these underwhelming numbers would be fired for not cutting costs. Here's an idea, start closing and consolidating schools.

Think of savings if every school listed was closed , sold to be developed as housing. Money saved employees, building upkeep and profit from sale of property to developers.

The CTU contract states that they have to maintain a full staff for each school which is a principal an assistant principal, school nurse, counselor, janitorial staff etc.
The last I heard was that it cost 18,500 per student a year but in the schools mentioned as much as 85,000 per student

Kamala for President of Somalia Says:
Money tree? Did someone say Money tree? I love the money tree. That tree has money on it. Trees have leaves, but Money trees have money on them. When autum comes, I will take out my rake and rake up all that money that falls on the ground.. So remember, everybody, to plant some dollar bills in the ground, and a few years later, you will have free money growing in your yard. Then you can thank me and send that money to me, care of, Kamala 4 President, of Somalia, 2030. And always remember, Trump is a big fat weenie, who stole my lunch money, when I was in 5th grade at Ding-Dong School….

I dont care who the candidates are in the mayors election. CPS budget and job proficiency should be the main topic of debate. Reading and comp is still falling. Some of those schools had Zero percent proficient in reading. Cross check that against the graduation rate and Ill bet it is 100 percent. CPD has been graduating kids for years that cant read or do math. And no one seems to care whenever CPS/CTU asks for a raise.

I agree that results matter and teachers are on the front lines, but I also have to say that the policy of social promotion eliminates any incentive for kids to learn in the early grades. They know that ignorant or not, they'll still get promoted and passed thru to high school. Mississippi (!) eliminated social promotions and if kids aren't proficient at grade level in 3rd grade, they're held back until they can read and do basic math at grade level. The state showed drastic improvements, largely from the demographic represented in most of the Chicago schools listed. Kids were more motivated to learn, and mama actually cracked down and made sure they did homework and attended classes.

If banks are required to be closed due to poor investing, poor returns on their investments, or other frauds, why not schools? Taxpayers, as a whole, do not have a choice of becoming a participating victim, unlike individual bank customers.

The problem is that Chicago Public Schools have a requirement to be open, but not a requirement to succeed. They also do not have any requirement to report the truth to anybody. Sure, there’s wailing and gnashing of teeth when the truth comes out, but no changes are required after. Same with City Hall, except there are elections every few years. By then, a “new” candidate promises change, but has no requirement to change anything.

That's the genius of the corrupt CTU system. The media whores keep the lid on this corruption and never go there because they are complicit with the Socialists. The voters are just plain stupid and keep the corruption firmly in place. The CTU is a spreading cancer in this city, and no one cares. The voters pay with their lives, taxes and in every other way.

Out of those 20 schools, you could consolidate all these kids into one school on the westside, and one on the southside, and close 18 of them. Easily get rid of 1000-1500 people staffing those schools.

Voice your displeasure with the buffoon mayor at all public speaking/pressers. Another looser Democrat Socialist whose neck is under the boot of the CTU. The corrupt media based on historic precedent, must continue their cover up of the incompetence of Conehead. Being in bed with a public figure who listens to voices in his head tells you all you need to know about "media truth". By their own words, deeds and actions the media routinely demonstrates its bias. They cannot be trusted.
