Well This is Unpleasant

How can you be this unable to complete your job?

  • The discovery of over 50 decomposing bodies in a South Deering funeral home was not the first time its business’ operators were found to have mishandled remains.

Last year, state officials shut down a Chicago Heights crematory, also operated by Clark and Johanna Morgan, amid allegations they had mishandled around 100 bodies at the facility.

That business was permanently shut down by state officials and nearly two dozen lawsuits were filed against the Morgans in the wake of the investigation.

But they continued to operate South Chicago Chapel at 2939 E. 95th St., and now dozens more families find themselves in the same position demanding answers from the Morgans and seeking accountability for their deceased loved ones.

Fifty-six bodies, openly decomposing, infested and being eaten by bugs and rodents.

NOT the first time this couple was caught mishandling the dead.

But somehow they slipped through the cracks, continued operating with out licenses or authorization, exploiting the bereaved and ....

What the actual f@#$?

Years ago, in the 11th District, Leak and Sons had a funeral home on south Sacramento Blvd. Several bodies were found there after the families couldn’t pay for the funerals. Some had been there for years.

$5,000 they were charging for cremation. Money collected, ashes from something, but no cremation. All profits

With all the govermental agencies here in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois that oversee and that are supposed to govern the funeral home and crematory operations they failed to do so. This husband and wife, Clark & Johanna Morgan, owners of South Chicago Chapel, should have been arrested when it was found that they also operated a crematory in Chicago Heights about a year ago when they couldn't account for over 100 bodies. Families still don't know what happened to their loved ones. This funeral home had 56 bodies that were decomposed and now more people are looking for their loved ones. Some of the neighbors said the stench had been going on for a year near the funeral home. Surely some of those families called government officials telling them they couldn't find their relatives.
So now those government agencies are hopping around trying to recover human remains. They all should have been doing their jobs and inspecting this funeral home and crematory. A lot of people need to be fired and prosecuted. The taxpayers will pay a hefty price to unravel this mess. And so this was allowed in the City of Chicago, County of Cook, State of Illinois, what does that tell you? The same scenario has happened in Chicago over the past few years in other funeral homes and this won't be the last! This story is in the national and international news.

Another lack of oversight by a state agency and no accountability. Illinois is over compartmentalized and nobody takes responsibility.

As a retired old timer wagon guy…..most of the funeral homes we dealt with were very well maintained and very professional. But it seems there is a long time scam being run here in Illinois that needs some inspections……

So how do you have any business that is state licensed and have no in person inspections? Let alone close another same type of business to avoid further investigations? Then open another and still not have any in person inspections?

Secretary of State, Illinois Department of professional regulations, Illinois Department of Insurance regulations……how many departments have inspectors? They come out to inspect barbers and hair salons

Here is a suggestion…..just like liquor sales, Marijuana or gambling locations, have spot inspections by local police or State police. We use to do school checks, CTA checks and gambling machine inspections. They have a state license. They need to allow walk through by law enforcement. Sounds like a job for watch lieutenant on days?

See what happens when the owners of these companies die and the business are turned over to the kids. The old AR Leakes used to be good for a fifty dollar "tip" for the wagon crew for every body delivered. They would never allow bodies to pile up since they to get paid from the county. The constant arrival of DOAs would have overwhelmed them if they didn't get rid of em. The kids took over the business and ran it to shit. And the Feds indicting the wagon crews didn't help either..

This is Cook County, Illinois home of the Safe-T Act, the rotten to core Cook County Democratic Organization, Governor JB Pigster, CC President Prekwinkle, Conehead the Mayor.

Just because they got shut down last year doesn’t mean they’ll stay shut down. It’s like expecting a dope dealer to quit selling dope just because he got pinched or car thief to quit stealing cars just because he’s on Electronic Monitoring. If no one is checking on you it’s like asking does a tree make noise if it falls in a forest and no one’s there. Or in this case, if you contribute to the organization are you free to do what you want?

There was also a case like this over 20 years ago. It was a black owned funeral home or cemetary not burying the bodies and just throwing them in a wooded section nearby. Some bodies were double stacked and the headstones changed out and It all amounted to the black buisneses owners taking the money and just not following the laws. As I recall the state was handling that case. Is this one on Pritzkers watch?

Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip.

New Details Emerge in Burr Oak Cemetery Grave Robbing Scandal. Here’s How a Clump of Moss Led to Convictions

It was a scandal that stunned the nation: a macabre story of modern-day grave robbing at a suburban Cook County cemetery, with human remains scooped from their burial sites, dumped elsewhere and the plots resold.

The crimes at Burr Oak Cemetery, a historic graveyard in Alsip, came to light in 2009. Four employees were ultimately found guilty of desecration, among other charges.

The "Babyland" section just disappeared. I felt so sorry for the poor ladies with their sore feet, walking and walking, trying to find loved ones. FBI was out there too, ground-penetrating radar and stuff, drawing grids, planting marker flags, and re-mapping the whole place and trying to match things with what records maybe still existed.

If you own a restaurant or fast food and the city inspectors come in and find food not hot or cold enough they will zing you. If you put out flowers on the public way they will zing you for no permit. But it’s OK to have disappearing bodies and rotting bodies hidden from families in funeral homes and they keep operating. You know these families had to complain to the city. Can’t believe the city doesn’t check these places. The fix must have been in.

One would think that after these mortuary people were uncovered with the horrors of what was found at their crematory (and it was covered extensively on the news) these investigative agencies would put two and two together and check their funeral home. Incompetence breeds corruption in Crook County.

In Illinois, funeral homes and crematories are not routinely inspected. Regulators only show up when someone complains or when police or public health are alerted. Leading to this by people who just don't give a fuck.

In all honesty, physiologically, you begin decomposing the minute your heart and lungs stop. Those people let their "loved ones" sit for a month or two at the ME's office. Then when the funeral home gets it, it's already decomposed. Add to that the famblys don't gots no money, So the body sits and rots further. It's par for the course with those people.
