Kim is at it again, declining to prosecute certain offenses (click for the larger version):
So anyone caught Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License gets a free pass. And unless they already have FOUR convictions, there's no way to convict them again, so there's no need to actually, you know, go out and get a license, or maintain your license to drive a vehicle. This also means a huge number of arrests are about to go by the wayside, along with Probable Cause for bigger arrests will be negated, and we don't even want to think about Rahm's impound fees disappearing - that's another budget hole that won't be filled soon.
Does this mean that we won't have to present Driver's Licenses during inspections any more? After all, if citizens don't need to be licensed, and there is about to be NO PENALTY for not having a license, it doesn't make sense for us to waste Jesse White's time actually getting a license. Perhaps we can shut down all the Drivers License Facilities and save millions more dollars?

That's not the way I read it. I read it to say that they are no longer going to be prosecuting it as a felony. You can still bring them in and tvb them and impound the car and issue them the tickets for them to appear in traffic court. Just no felony upgrades.

When did the States Attorneys Office become the Public Defenders Office? I thought the SA Office was supposed to work at convicting the offenders?
Note it states: "We will not procequite certain traffic offenses or Felony until there is four convictions". What certain traffic does the the SA Office handle other then DUI, driving without or suspended and revoke DL?
Looks like she's going to shift the burden over to the city lawyers to prosecute as a community - village offense. What no P- ticket ? Better bundle up all the charges at the time arrest.

The property needs to meet certain criteria, be inspected and approved.

I've only seen ONE person in my career so far actually get a conviction in DWLS. They gave her a conviction in that, but dropped the DUI I charged as well even though it was her third. At that time, she had 11 DWLS arrests, no convictions and 2 DUI's with no convictions. This county simply doesn't care to convict anyone or put anyone away. Good luck in actually seeing 4 convictions. If you do, play the lottery that night.

Misdemeanors....driving on a suspended or revoked license is charged under Section 6-303 of the Illinois Vehicle Code as a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum of 364 days in jail and up to a $2,500 fine. ... A second/third violation is a Class 4 Felony and carries a minimum of 30 days in jail.
So Kimmy's rule doesn't say arrest won't be made just that the SA will not approve Felony....but they are still arrested...

Yes they are. Although I've never understood why they have been essentially allowed to dictate the punishments, fines etc for DUI.
I don't agree with it but PC won't be effected. A misdemeanor still gets you PC.
Next week Cook County State's Attorney Kimesha Fox will announce that her office will not prosecute any offender for murder unless the offender has 6 prior convictions for murder.

These are not Disability grade injuries, but just enough to cause discomfort and pain for the rest of your life. And historically, we have tacitly accepted this as part of "Da Job"! Now, everyone in Cook County is about to be "Victimized" like coppers by this selective prosecution. So just as Democrats love Spreading Your Wealth, Ms. Foxx is about to Spread the Pain! The office is also going to start a policy of not charging people with "felony murder" in most cases. It's a bullshit felony anyways.... My neighbors son lost his license for a dui in 1994 at the age of 20..... He is now 42 and just got his license back in October after having lost it. He kept driving to work in the suburbs on revoked license and kept getting pulled over for minor traffic violations or because his plates came back to his name and showed license suspended and revoked. Long story short he has been to the penitentiary 5 times in the last 15 years because it was a felony to drive. And every time he got convicted it added another 2 years to his revocation. He would get out get a job and work for a few months until he was caught again.This is the only trouble this man has had in his entire life. Only 1 dui ever.

She's not saying to not charge him. She is saying she wants the offender charged with a misdemeanor , not upgraded to a felony. ASA does it everyday with felony review. They have the final say on a felony charge. I know u r going to say the deputy can override felony review, but that does no good because the ASA can then just drop that felony at the first or initial court appearance

It's a bullshit felony anyways.... My neighbors son lost his license for a dui in 1994 at the age of 20..... He is now 42 and just got his license back in October after having lost it. He kept driving to work in the suburbs on revoked license and kept getting pulled over for minor traffic violations or because his plates came back to his name and showed license suspended and revoked. Long story short he has been to the penitentiary 5 times in the last 15 years because it was a felony to drive. And every time he got convicted it added another 2 years to his revocation. He would get out get a job and work for a few months until he was caught again.This is the only trouble this man has had in his entire life. Only 1 dui ever.
Sounds like he really obeys the law. DUI, revoked,suspended then keeps driving. When your license is suspended or revoked, that means don't drive.
I took the wife to an art fair at North and Wells today. First off they shook you down for $7 apiece to walk on your own streets you have been bleeding tax's out your ass for you entire life. THEN they have one of those no gun signs at the entrance to the thing. Now its a street fair on a public street and if you have a concealed permit WTF would they think they would do to you?
So they got the off dutys guys who look like cops but dont want to look like cops checking bags. I really wanted to ask then who in hell is that nog gun sign for? Is it for the terrorists? Is it for the gangsters that spend their lives shooting up our streets? While putting the sign there is probably some dip shit Liberals little Political statement I'd be willing to bet the real purpose of the sign is to harass some legal carrier, or retired/off duty cop, cause even these artsy Liberals cant be stupid enough to think Abdullah of ISIS is going to give a shit about it.
So I spent the afternoon expecting some Obama refugee to make the place go , or some gangbanger to pull out his 9 cause his homey took the last chicken wing. The fucking city cant do shit about crime so why not put out signs and make everyone feel better. Nothing like 10,000 sheep all packed together to run your Mack truck over with. After going thru the gate I saw one cop the entire afternoon.
And thats when I told the wife no more art fairs, no more ball games, no more concerts, no more hockey, no more any kind of event bigger then a kids baseball game. Fuck this city and this Dept. and the idiots who run both.

Sure Rahm would have a new income source, but it won't work. City can not suspend/revoke licenses of violator, only punishment would be 364 days in county, and Dart would let them out early. The state and other towns would not have to recognize the arrest..... besides you still have the state Misd...
Summed up simply. Don't lock up democratic voters.
The letter reports that they will not be prosecuting them as felonies unless there are already 4 convictions. They are not declining to prosecute them entirely, they just aren't going to upgrade the charge to a felony until they already have 4 strikes.
The "local," Suburban-munincipal private attorney prosecutors will pick up these charges....many now do anyway and have been for decades. Overweights, DUI's and even many retail thefts are prosecuted this way. There are provisions to adopt the State Statutes. Case law is clear on point.

To the poster about the art fair. Retired and living in the Rockford area. The Blachawks #1 farm club play at the BMO arena, formerly the metro center. The no gun signs are on tbe door and metal detection along with bag searches are done at the door. If you are a leo just tell them at the checkpoint and a BMO security cop, usually od cops, will check your id and you are on your way with a "thank you for coming to the game".
The CC ASA do not enforce the sex offenders registration laws. Wait for another child predator get his way with a 4 year old, someone who should have been incarcerated, but allowed to roam your neighborhood, thanks to Foxx. I am retired and take my wife to street fests in the city. The fee is optional and simply say I am not paying. I never had a problem. The no gun sign does not apply to LE so who cares? You need to relax a little and let your wife enjoy the fest. Your stress will affect her and your family. Life goes on and I will not let politics affect my family. I hate this city BUT do enjoy certain activities with my family. You need to think of your family and let them enjoy life, whether it is in the city or suburbs.

They pulled a similar move CPD did regarding hiring: reduce the need i.e. low crime= less officers needed. What the county has done is reduce its operating budget and capital expenses by reducing general population. Think about it. The feds tell them they are understaffed. We see soaring numbers in shootings yet the jail is doing a lot of advocacy saying their population is filled with people (mental health or "victims" of a broken system) who should not be there. Buildings are getting torn down, they are EMing people, helping them make bond and the SAO is not prosecuting cases, which all keeps the daily headcount down. You can't call it the trying to lower my operating budget plan. They threw a social spin on it that any liberal with a soft heart would jump all on. Don't forget, despite being separate elected offices, the SAO and sheriff's office are under the county government. They are doing whatever they can to lower the costs of running a jail. If you really think it's for "the community" I don't know why, it's a ploy to lower expenses and get votes all at once.

I couldn't agree more. I to am retired and take my family to weekly events that the city offers and have never have a problem. Hell sometimes I go to north Ave beach on the week ends, swim and then have a quick one at the Castaways. Won't even mention all the sporting events that I enjoy. This guy has to calm down and enjoy life
