Underwood Hearing Tomorrow

So tomorrow, there's going to be some sort of announcement at Court about the Underwood v City lawsuit that gives some form of Healthcare to anyone hired before 2003. The latest FOP newsletter has an extensive explanation of the classes of covered employees and amounts.

One question though:
  • If the City is going to be allowed to go back to the 1985 rules and payments, then shouldn't the officers be allowed to go back to the 1985 payments also? After all, what's fair is fair, right?
And if we recall correctly, the Officers share in 1985 was....zero.

We are all going to get Multi-Cultural Health Care.

You get more choices that way. Next time you are sick, you can either get a Communist Chinese Village Acupuncturist, an African Village Doctor, or a consultation with Dr. Kevorkian. These will be your only choices, you jack-booted, fascist police oppressor of the people!

You should be happy with your choices the People have granted you!

I agree with the respondent who said 1985 healthcare rates $0 per month. But is out pension really same with mayor Emmanuel at the helm, I read an article that stated the pension system needed 1.3 billion in pension payment by 2023 and here you have the pompous bold face liar taking money out of one project and putting it into another behind closed doors. God on
Y know what deals he is making now to avoid making pen
Nsion payments. Teachers should be making pension payments of 9% also instead of the current 2% that's BS so they don't have a right to complain about their pension if they won't pay their fair share into it.

Conundrum: Aetna retirement plan is better than what the city's was about the same cost as last year of that plan. It can be cancelled by Aetna at any time since it is not in a contract with the city. Then you are back in the hunt for insurance.

A plan with the city, should we win, will, theoretically, be a CONTRACT that gives peace of mind, even if not quite as good as the Aetna plan.

What to do, that is the question?

Rahmietown
(With apologies to Billy Joel)

🎵So we're living here in Rahmietown
Where they're tearing Cook County Jail down
Up in Lake View there's a surge in crime
The rats from the hood, hop on the Red Line

The pension value's dropping through the floor
Makes you wonder just what you're working for
The connected types keep using their clout
While others without, should get the fuck out

Now we're trapped right here in Rahmietown
Where the lawlessness has doubled down
And it's getting very hard to stay . . .

Well we're waiting here in Rahmietown
For the decent life that we never found
Believing promises the contract made
We did our part, when do we get paid?

All the commendations hang on the wall
But they never really helped much at all
The politicians lie with a straight face
Every single word they say, all in bad faith

And still we're waiting here in Rahmietown
Where the city's about to come crashing down
As the taxpayers start moving away . . .

Last year, almost 4400 people got shot
It's always worse when the weather gets hot
The elite really like to rub it in your face
The white middle class is being replaced

Why are you still living here in Rahmietown?
They keep kicking you when you're already down
And you won't be getting up today . . .

(Guitar solo)

Time to pack up and move far away
It's time to wave goodbye to Rahmietown

The Chicago Way has graduated fully. To combat you being fetal, your insurance is now set up to where your office visits can only be arranged by pulling your doctor over in a street stop. Retirees will have to partner up with someone no the job now to do a Doctor Stop. By golly, they will correct your fetality one way or the other -eve if they gotta mess with your healthcare some more to do it!

Back to reality now.

Do you guys understand that it will only get worse until health insurance its separated from employment altogether? Until what the employer pays to insurance companies is put in your paycheck as pay and you get your own insurance policy like you do for your car or house or motorcycle or boat, it will only get worse.

Imagine the cost reductions there would be if you just got that roughly 2 grand a month in your paychecks, AND the less costs to the City to no longer have have to fool with docking your checks and even ending all these arguments about it all!!!

The funny part? People will get tickets from cops for letting their mandatory health insurance expire due to non payment, and tickets will be written by cops over driving without health insurance. ha ha ha. Yeah maybe insurance industry and isn't the only thing in need of revemaping.
"insurance"

If that was any indication then forget about getting anything for free, unless you're a deadbeat, never earned a W-2, EBT holding freeloader.

Rahm really placed all his chips on obama-hillary to carry him thru the rapidly failing and expensive healthcare pyramid scam.
There's money for Navy Pier, unneeded stadiums, hotels and an entire obama village book house museum infrastructure that is getting zero resistance or scrutiny from City Hall.
Take care of retirees as promised?

so in 85 the officers share was 0. THen the 86 class was the first to begin paying into Medicare? So a group from about 1970-1986 did not pay into Medicare? But cops prior to that did?

My question: the 1965 cops who paid into Medicare, what kind of medical did they get through the city?

There were no cops that paid into Medicare in 1965. I came on 27 September 1965 and NEVER paid into Medicare Medicare was not paid by po's until 1986 and any officer who came on prior did not have to pay into Medicare. I don't know where you got your information but it wasn't like they paid in 1986, but didn't from 1970 to 1986, but paid prior to 1970
The 1965 cops never paid in because Medicare wasn't signed into law until 1965 and we were exempted from paying in

Heard this today: NFL knows most of its players smoke
marijuana, so it lets players know in advance that all
players will be tested, like on June 1st, so they have time
to get clean in advance. Only an annual test is required
unless you tested positive in the past.
Problem is with players previously positive. They can be
tested at random, anytime during the year.
NFL is big business so the yearly test is announced more
than 30 days in advance to give everyone time to get clean.

This is EXACTLY what happened to my family when Obamadoesntcare was passed. Hubs works for a very small business. This small biz used to buy us insurance on the private market (its too small to have its own group plan). Obamacare made that illegal (employer can't pay for private health plans anymore). Now hubs gets the health insurance premium cost as part of his pay, which bumped us up a tax bracket. Now I have even less budget money because the gov't is stealing a chunk of what the employer gave us to buy healthcare plus a bigger chunk of his total pay. To make it even better, the plan we bought isn't ACA compliant (all of the ACA plans had insane deductibles and out of pockets that would bankrupt us if we had to use them) so we also get to pay a $1700 penalty at tax time.

Everytime one of the bloviating gov't windbags starts prosing on about how they are helping the common man I want to puke. They've screwed my family six ways to Sunday with their "help", the two timing mouthbreathing weasels. They all deserve to rot in hell, and I hope they do.

They won't be happy until they have bankrupted the middle class and forced us all into their plantation of gov't dependency.

You are 100% correct, but also 100% wrong. The Aetna contract is held by the FOP and for the 1st time in our careers we dont have the City involved with how it is structured. By the way the City's plan for Medicare that they rolled out is less coverage for more money and is 100% voluntary. The City controls the benefit because and the member pays 100% of the cost with no input on how it is structured. When i was at the membership meeting last year that was one of the biggest things i got out of it. We control as a group the Aetna plan because the FOP is the contract holder.
