A couple of people sent us pictures of receipts from Cannabis Dispensaries and all we can say is, "What?"
And the taxes? We're aware this is laboratory controlled material and such, but is this supposed to be like a craft been bar? Or a boutique chocolatier? Gourmet dining? The government has just priced a sizable portion of the market out of being able to smoke legal weed, which is going to lead to what exactly?

The local neighborhood weed dealer is not going to lose his gig.
So the taxes are about 33% ? $225 in merchandise and a $300 bill. At least that other guy earned a couple of reward points. The state is betting on this making them big bucks? They’re high (pun intended).

Want the legal stuff gonna cost a lot of money. However there is a much more affordable option. See those black guys hanging out by the weed store, that can help you out. Double the amount of less than half the price. Just recycle that legal weed container and no one will know the difference. It is that or go broke supporting your new habit. You will be dealing with them sooner or later so why wait.

That $301 receipt for a couple of afternoons worth of dope got me thinking. How much Jack Daniels could I get for $301? Recently read something on California and their legal weed problems for the year. The main points were that the legal weed was so expensive that the street weed sales were still 70% of the market. Seems that having to pay more for taxes, rent, utilities, employee benefits, etc. was just too much for most people. Besides, if it de-criminalized, what wrong with buying it on the street?

Not that the prices are good but several of the items listed are not weed per se but “specialty” items like live resin and shatter. They are way more expensive and taxed higher because of higher THC content. However, $65+ tax for an 1/8 oz. (3.5g) is about triple the cost of what your local weed dealer would charge.
Never ever used the stuff, but am being told the dealers are out in full force and are laughing at what people are paying!

I remember back in 2006 I was assigned to the CAPS office and had to take a DARE training class. in the class we learned the evil pitfalls of cannabis and how it is a gateway drug that will lead the user to crack or heroin. We were taught to tell the kids it is called dope because it makes you a "dope." It kills brain cells and causes cancer etc.

Just be careful saving up those loyalty points. The ISP WILL have access to those records (you have to show your DL to enter he store) and too many loyalty points will tag you as a habitual user and your FOID and CCL will be revoked. How many of us trust the state of Illinois?

You are right on ! No real scientific research evidence that the THC in marijuana has any curative effect on any medical issues. THC has been available for a long time in pill form. The medical marijuana hoax was just to get the camel's nose under the tent on the way to legal recreational use. But, what the scientific evidence does indicate is long term damage to the brain and IQ. FWIW: Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug, no different than cocaine or heroin, under the federal Controlled Substances Act. The federal swamp critters, who exempt themselves from these random drug tests, are "thinking" about removing it from the list, but until then, it is a federal felony to either recreationally or medically use marijuana, EVEN in states where it is now legal to do so. If you already own a firearm, or fill out an ATF form 4473 to buy a gun and state on that form ( question 11a) you do not use a schedule 1 drug and in fact do, you are defacto guilty of a federal felony under the 1968 Gun Control Act (10yrs and $10,000 fine). Federal law supercedes state law on this. Would they put you in prison? Probably not, but they would LOVE to fine you and take away your voting rights, as well as confiscating your guns. There is NO minimum quantity or medical Rx exemption on this as well. You might want to factor this into your decisions regarding this, and warn your friends as well. I am CERTAIN I am correct about this. I have warned my friends to be careful while out hunting and thinking they can now sit around the campfire in the evening passing a joint around and celebrating their new freedom given them by their liberal swamp critters in the state legislature. It just may be a clever trap....
