New Years Eve Preparations
- With crowds expected to gather downtown for two planned fireworks displays, the Chicago Police Department plans to deploy about 1,300 additional officers across the city on New Years Eve.
The majority of the extra officers will be in uniform to increase visibility, Fred Waller, CPD’s chief of the bureau of patrol, said Monday at a news conference.
“We will also have plainclothes officers at events mingling within the crowds in a discreet manner to watch for public gatherings,” Waller said.
“Many of these officers have had their days off canceled to work on this important night,” Waller added. “Officers from every district and every division will be pitching in this year.”
We will be protecting assorted viaducts across the city right around the stroke of midnight...after all, we wouldn't want those things to fall on New Years Eve revelers.

Progressive policing is giving the community what they want.
If graffiti free viaducts is what they want, allocate manpower accordingly.

So he’s saying that they will have officers mingling at the PUBLIC GATHERING, which is what the events are, to prevent PUBLIC GATHERINGS. How about he says the plainclothes cops are there to prevent the usual robberies, muggings and murder and mayhem that tend to break out among certain members of the public at public gatherings.
I was one of the lucky ones who has New Year's off but didn't get forced to work. When they asked for me to volunteer, lol, no thanks. An extra couple hundred bucks ain't worth my family time and the headache.

I just wanted to say that the 012 District, 011 District, and outside units that responded to the armed robbery/hostage situation at the Dollar Tree on the 29th did a great job. All of the hostages were unharmed. The offenders (all with usual scumbag rap sheets) were caught red handed and a weapon was recovered all before SWAT arrived. It's a shame that this only gets a small blurb in the news while over-promoted dirtbag merit hacks who constantly screw up get an entire cycle.

I just had a response on another blog from a cop in Toronto, Canada after I posted something about being fetal in Chiraq. Up in the land Molson beer they call it "FIDO", "Fuck It Drive On". A nice catchy slogan. Same problems there involving the same demographic.

I’ve said it all along 95% of the hostage situations are decided by the actions of of the first officers on the scene. The beat men routinely handle situations and keep them from escalating into a hostage situation and the need for swat

In recent history the damage structurally done to the police department by Gerry McCarthy is still haunting us to this day. His twisted arrogant hubris set our whole department back 15 yrs with his misinformed and stupid moves. This will pail in comparison though, to the moral cancer of the Eddie Johnson regime. His “Hoodratization” of our former proud department brought it completely into the gutter. Never before has the thug mentality become the norm in the department. His ghetto behavior of Men not being Men and doing the heavy lifting of fatherhood, and a SUPERINTENDANT of POLICE marching arm in arm with Gang members,Anarchists and Anti-American Socialism was mind numbing. We now live in a city where crime DOES pay, the police are the offenders and the nuclear family is irrelevant. I can’t tell you how disgusted we are as the attack continues. Well now that I fired everyone up with my posting about working on New years eve I was only kidding, I wsin a working unit and on New Years eve we always stayed safe until the amateur gun shooters were done then went out to get the serious goofs. Always went in mass, with alot of troops to help us stay safe. Had a new team member who wanted to do it his way, so he did but was gone back to district the next week for being stupid. Happy New Year and stay safe.
