Google-me Goodbye (UPDATE)
- The head Chicago police spokesman sent a letter of resignation to Interim Superintendent Charlie Beck Friday that declared his intention to leave the department when Beck does.
Anthony [Google-me], CPD’s chief communications officer, started at the department in 2015, and at the time, he “had only committed to staying in Chicago a few months to help develop protocols to enhance the function and scope of the traditional News Affairs office," according to his letter.
“While the wind and weather gave me strong encouragement to go home, it was the amazing people of CPD and Chicago that led me to stay,” he wrote.
Yeah, and the completely out-of-proportion six-figure salary for being a political mouthpiece for an already politically run department. Google-me never said anything that wasn't personally approved by a mayor and the mayor's handlers. He spouted politics, not police work (as his work history never contained anything resembling hands-on policing.)
Just another one of Rahm's carpetbagging assholes scamming taxpayers for well over half-a-mil, doing a job that a patrolman could have done for way less money.

This is because his name was brought in during the IG investigation of Johnson. Google me was a big part, of not the biggest part of the cover up as he instantly “got ahead” of the story by putting out a statement first thing in the morning after the incident. He had the medication story out by 10am. There was a brainstorming session and it was put out. A PO and Sgt from news affairs were interviewed for the IG investigation and told that the information to be put in the release was given to them by google me who had just met with the supe. It doesn’t show a direct “cover up” by google me but leaves a ton of circumstantial evidence that would look bad for him and I’m sure ultimately led to his resignation anyways. He’s been looking for a new job ever since the IG started the investigation. This has nothing to do with all of a sudden missing his hometown.

Seriously, let the guy be! Anyone at news affairs is supposed to spin what we do so it will be accepted by the media and the community. Yes he has been here longer than any other person in News affairs . As politics change so does the mission of the department. All and all he is a good guy. He helped get the Department their first Award for social media recognised by outside agencies. He attempted to humanise the badge by sending his people out into the public and highlight the good that officers do. He also tried to report the news through social media rather than play catch-up to the media. Remember public relations positions mean you have to relate to the public and in doing so you have to work with the media, the mayors office , outside agencies to craft statements that best reflect our department. He made Commanders pay or above because that’s what he was in civilian rank. Also of course he did what the mayor wanted . The position of mayor is his boss! And not doing any police work - how could he? He is a civilian. He used his Sgts MM , RA, CG to tell him what police would do in certain situations because he is not the police .
Is it really true that CPD Inspectors are writing people up for haircut violations? Don’t they realize that most barbershop and beauticians are closed because they are deemed non-essential businesses!!!!!

Well it's nice to want to help but for the sake of your health and your family stay away. If you have spare rubber gloves, surgical masks, Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer you should donate them and drop them off to the district station of your choice (the city is still not supplying us those things). I don't think you realize how bad this department has handled this crisis. I'm sure you don't realize what the CPD has turned into in the last 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if some young officer wrote you a ticket or did an ISR on you after you donated medical supplies at the station. Our civilian desk personnel might very well curse at you for not bringing them free food or just ignore you thinking you're there to ask for a report. You can make us all proud by taking care of your family and moving out of Illinois. Don't sacrifice yourself and enable the system that wants you dead. Enjoy retirement.

I hope he didn't arrest anyone-him being a civilian and all.
If I get hit by an inspector for any grooming violations, I will immediately go out and get dreadlock hair extensions. I will declare my religious preference as rastafarian. You can't enforce rules for some and then completely ignore another group for their violations. Everyone know the rules when you chose to become a police officer, the constant pandering sickens me.
Put Robin Robinson in the position soon to be vacated by the Googles.
Then we might see video of her peace circles, wisdom chants, incense burning with incantations and interpretive dancing. I am told that on occasion Robinson is able to summon Harry Houdini and he materializes and does some entertaining slight of hand.
