McCormick Place Field Hospital

  • McCormick Place will be converted into Illinois’ first field hospital to handle 3,000 coronavirus patients as the state braces for a possible surge in cases in the coming weeks, officials said.

“We’re not waiting for the worst. We’re preparing ourselves for the worst,” Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Saturday at his daily briefing.

The governor’s remarks came a day after Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite said he hoped to complete the work by April 24. The Chicago Department of Public Health said 500 beds are expected to be ready there in the coming week.
And not just McCormick Place:
  • The United Center also will transform into a logistics hub for Chicago’s coronavirus response — used for food distribution, first responder staging and collecting medical supplies.
Police station lobbies remain open to any and all who want to come in, make reports and cough all over officers and staff.

How about City Hall and the Aldermanic offices stay open instead of Districts? Then, the open mouth coughing, drooling, wash the scrotum in the water fountain scoundrels can have somewhere to go while supporting their favorite democrat.

The shit storm is coming. Not as numerous as NYC, but probably in proportion. They have 30,000 cases now. Chicago will have 10,000. If they have 100,000, we'll have 30,000.

Bad optics if The Police actually have any

There's not a lot we can do to stop this virus. Overreacting wont help. It's going to run its course no matter what we do. We are dealing with a pathogen that goes where the wind blows. Filling up hotels and exposition centers seems expensive. Isn't Cook County Jail largely empty now? Our mayor already thinks were going to involuntarily "detain" these people against their will. Wouldn't the county lockup be a better place to do that?

Where is the next "Interment" camp going to pop up? What are the next "executive orders" going to be written? Which of out freedoms are going to be trampled upon by our already overreaching government? They are going to have a lot of "civil disobedience" on their hands if they continue in this fashion. What then, Martial Law? Double Secret Probation?

And I am equally certain that Gov. Pritzker, Mayor Lightfoot, their families, political allies and friends (Party members) will never be “treated” at such places. Its just my feeling that they will get the ventilators are Northwestern, UofC, UIC, Loyola or Rush without a “universal DNR”.

If you go to McCormick Place I wonder if you will be allowed to leave, have visitors, or have communication while you are waiting for “treatment”?? Will you be allowed to leave??

Not sure if I’ll voluntarily go to these facilities. These facilities are sounding more like gulags than hospitals. But of course you can trust the government, can’t you?

It’s the best thing to happen to MacCormick, it’s hospitality and trade venue business was going down the drain for decades. Once that MacCormick’s ventilations system gets a good dose of viral spores, no conventioneer is going to want to attend anytime soon after.

With a start up of 3,000 beds at the going city-rate of $175 per night and a 15 day minimum could prove better than the dwindling Windy City trade show convention bidness.
Guess MacCormack Place beat out the newly rehabbed Old Cook County Hospital Hotel, but they’ll only have 200 rooms...if they even open in the next couple of months.

Wow, ol’ Rahm the community developer had sold off and demolished Shortshanks billion dollar Reece Hospital Olympic Village dream scheme a couple years too soon. Democrats will continue to exploit the pandemonium and possibly created a whole new industry - gubmint subsidized sanitariums.

Now looks like MacCormick’s Place going to turn into both CookCo St.Roger’s and Cermack’s Hospital East. Even Pacific Gardens will be getting a dedicated a wing.

I guess it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it the old saying, now that the mayor has just announced that the schools will not be going back until at least April 21 so they’re gonna have to probably go to school longer, does that mean the teachers are now sitting on their ass is at home getting about two grand a week There going to get extra pay for doing this if they have to work extra during the summer which would be totally ludicrous because you’re basically on vacation again!

On another note the speaker of the house Pelosi stated clearly on the news this morning it was CNN I wasn’t watching it but another person in my house was she said for the second stimulus she’s going to make sure that the money is there to take care of the pensions I hope the mayor pays attention to this and the union president maybe make a call to the White House to make it happen for the Police Pension fund which is rapidly depleting! You say you support the first responders now put your money where your mouth is make the call. FOP President Graham do you have the inside track you were at the White House talking to the president sitting right next to him maybe make that phone call at least this would show that you have done something during your career to help the coppers instead of sitting there saying nothing but see what you do now can you handle this?

Instead of having the Corps of Engineers build out a hospital, why not have the National Guard set up on of their actual “ready to use” field hospitals inside McCormick Place? Field hospitals are supposed to be ready to receive patients within 48 hours of being deployed. And, when they’re not needed any more, they pack up and move in another 48 hours - to demolition needed.

So, whose beak is getting wetted by this project? Follow the money!

So the grandkids, wives and husbands are all out saying goodbye to their loved one. And to top it off, if more then 10 show at cemetary, the workers are ordered to stop the service. So as people are losing jobs, businesses and having no contact with family, now you can't even say goodbye to a loved one. That will help with the stress. Just shows Groot and JB don't give a shit. And after ZERO of these 3000 extra beds are used some fucking genius politician will say let’s use it as a homeless shelter, it will be like the super dome after Katrina filled with the homeless hypes, crazies and the piss bums. The city and the state will pay a shit ton of money and then it will take 2 years to get the fuckers outta there.

Man am I glad I had it out with SMG supervisors and quit same day, a year before this virus chaos got started. The thought of still working there, getting sick, medical people sending me THERE and dying looking at the elephant door in B hall with no family able to visit makes me shake. Retired CPD. since 2013
